11387****The hotel's breakfast was excellent, and the hot springs were incredibly relaxing. The room was spacious, the lobby was beautiful, and the service was outstanding. Taking a walk along the river next to the hotel was very pleasant, and the view of the volcano from the riverside was spectacular.

HHoshLet's start with the pros. This hotel is basically joined to the JR Kyushu Shinkasen / Kagoshimachuo station which is joined to the AMU Plaza shopping mall and it also has a tram stop right outside the mall (Kagoshima-chuo eki mae tram stop). So in terms of location I think this hotel ticks all the boxes. The lady at the front counter who was checking me was very friendly, however, we both had to use a translator to communicate 😂 . I believe that is it for the pros. Moving on to the cons. This hotel is starting to show its age (and not in a good way). The room was small, the bathroom is vintage, it felt dewy and it gave me an allergy attack. The 3 gripes I had: 1) The fix AC near the ceiling was blowing directly onto the bed which was really uncomfortable. I believe this contributed to my allergy flare-up. 2) The bed and the pillow was not very comfortable. I did not sleep well for the couple of nights. Or it could've just been the AC. 3) The hotel didn't offer any bottled waters. I would rather they take away the cheap plastic toothbrush and comb and offer the bottled waters instead.

GGuest UserI booked this hotel on Trip.com for my summer trip to Japan, and my stay was excellent! Self check-in is available from 3 PM. The hotel boasts a convenient location and pleasant surroundings, though its facade is quite unassuming and easy to miss. Our connecting family rooms (two rooms) weren't particularly spacious but were clean and well-equipped, featuring an air purifier and an LG clothes dryer. Guests can also enjoy a public bath on the 12th floor. Located just 1.4 km from Kagoshima-Chuo Station, the area around the hotel offers a plethora of unique dinner options, such as the famous 'Wagaiebi' izakaya, specialty soba noodle shops, and a wide array of other local delicacies. Furthermore, drugstores, bakeries, and supermarkets are all conveniently accessible. While summer prices tend to be a bit higher, the hotel offers very reasonable rates during off-peak seasons.

AAnonymous UserI often travel to Japan, and Dormy Inn rooms always seem to be in high demand. The 20+ sqm twin rooms, perfect for two adults and one child, are usually impossible to book. So, when I saw this room type available in Kagoshima, I decided to book it for one night. Overall, my experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, neither adult could enjoy the onsen (hot springs) for personal reasons, which is arguably the hotel's main highlight – a real shame. The room itself was a bit small, and while cleanliness was decent, the toilet emitted a persistent garlic-like odor. On the positive side, the dining options were excellent. Breakfast featured Kagoshima's special black pork shabu-shabu and a type of sashimi. Complimentary ice cream and Yakult were available all day in the lounge on the hot spring floor, and free soy sauce ramen was served after 9:30 PM. Given these amenities, I'd say it's best suited for adults who plan to fully utilize the onsen facilities. What truly made the stay less than ideal wasn't just my inability to use the onsen. More significantly, during check-in, the front desk informed me that my reservation did not include a 3-year-old child, resulting in an additional charge for the child's accommodation and meals. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and honestly, I'm not sure who to blame. I distinctly remember booking for two adults and one child, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong in the process. Perhaps Dormy Inn and I simply weren't a good match this time. I'm well aware that Japanese hotels charge per person, so I always meticulously enter the correct number of guests and compare prices across different platforms when booking in Japan. Having visited Japan over a dozen times, this was the first instance where I was charged extra at check-in due to a discrepancy in the number of guests. I was quite surprised when informed about the booking error. Checking my Trip.com confirmation on my phone at the front desk, I saw it indeed only listed two adults. I can only fault myself for never reviewing the confirmation after booking; moving forward, I'll be sure to check them carefully to catch and correct any issues promptly. After reporting this to Trip.com customer service, they responded quickly and later reimbursed me half of the additional cost. During this trip, both hotels I booked through Trip.com had unexpected additional charges at check-in. Besides the Dormy Inn incident, another hotel in Fukuoka charged a separate accommodation tax. Interestingly, I booked a different hotel in Fukuoka on another platform, and its price already included this tax, so I didn't pay anything extra upon arrival. Moving forward, when booking hotels in Japan, I'll have to carefully consider if the lowest price offered on certain platforms might be due to hidden fees.

__ucweb1366136****The hotel is located in the Planetarium area, with an airport bus stop directly diagonally opposite. It's also just over a 10-minute walk to South Pier. Our twin room was a decent size, with enough space to open two 28-inch suitcases. The room offered a good view, but unfortunately, the windows don't open. In the bathroom, the water pressure was strong and the drain worked well, but the water temperature was a bit hard to adjust, fluctuating between hot and cold. There's a lip into the bathroom that felt a bit wobbly, so care is needed when stepping on it. The bathtub's material and design weren't ideal, which older guests should particularly note. The surrounding area offers plenty of shopping and dining options. Sukiya is right next door, and there's a well-established unagi (eel rice) restaurant nearby that serves delicious food. The hotel's cleanliness was alright, but I did find some hair. It seems the standards aren't quite comparable to what they were years ago when local staff were responsible for room upkeep, a difference perhaps influenced by the increasing presence of foreign workers in many cities. The front desk is on the second floor, and most services are semi-self-service, with self-service luggage lockers available.

LLinuswangI've always preferred staying near JR stations for their convenience. Due to the heavy rain, I couldn't take the Kirishima train, so I opted for a day trip to Kagoshima instead. However, the surprise that morning was an earthquake – I was on the 8th floor and it shook me awake. The hotel was worth the price, but checking out at 10 am was really tough. I was woken up by a phone call to come downstairs to check out… I need to be more careful next time.

KKingPhilipWe ended up in a magnificent corner room with a view of Sakurajima - possibly the best room in the hotel - but only after a struggle. On arrival, we were told that our Standard King room was double-booked and we would have to move after one night to a smaller room. The hotel blamed the mix-up on Trip.com. Since we had booked almost two months prior and had arrived first, this didn't wash. We pressed our claim and the result was good. A lovely, modern room with exceptional facilities - including a private sauna - and magnificent view. But it speaks poorly of the hotel's customer service that it took some determined push-back to achieve this result. The hotel's initial attitude was that the we should lose out over a mix-up that had nothing to do with us. A first-rate place, if you can trust the booking.

ZZheyanIt's about a 20-minute walk from Kagoshima Chuo Station. The Takamibaba tram stop is right in front of the bath. The large public bath is great. There aren't many washing areas, so I don't know when it gets busy, but I didn't have to wait long. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of food. It was a buffet of Japanese, Western and Chinese food. I would have preferred if there were more desserts. It was a shame that there was no cereal. The yogurt was delicious. It never gets full, but as rumored, there is quite a long queue from 6:30. The staff are not bad at all. It felt like they were doing the bare minimum.

GGuest UserPros: The hotel locates near the west exit of Kagoshima Central Station. It takes less than 3 minutes walk to get there from the station. However it would take 8-10 minutes walk to reach the airport bus terminal which is close to the east gate of the station. Space of a double room is satisfactory and average in Japan. Cons: Breakfast is very simple so we just ignore the breakfast on the the third day. No USB sockets in the room. One should not expect much facilities and services with reference to the price.

HHuiyouyongdeyu_hhIt's very clean, and the bedding and toiletries are brand new. On the first floor, the lobby offers a variety of DHC cleansers, toners, and makeup removers, so if you're not too picky, you don't even need to bring any toiletries. It's right next to the Tenmonkan shopping district, which is very convenient, and the 'Woa Ren' restaurant there is delicious. I'll definitely go back again; I really enjoyed the food in Kagoshima, and if I return, I'll stay at this hotel again.
