OOrez TsangThis is my first leisure trip in 2025. That's a vey good experience trip with my wife. A modern and comfortable lobby lounge area provided a nice coffee area for a easy breakfast before my day trip. On the final day, i enjoyed the full buffet breakfast and staffs were really helpful with that gave people nice day beginning. Onsen provided me an refreshments daily and made me energetic, also relaxed me as happy ending. I forgot the female staff who received my fruit on 14Jan night. She and her colleague assist us to prepare the fruit which purchased outside. It was my nice dessert that night. Another memorable gentleman on 13Jan overnight, i was handling some business during overnight in sudden. Therefore, i went down lobby to complete it. He approached me for assistance and offering me help for wifi service. For the design of lobby, this is very great to locate the front desk towards the main entrance and the most front line to welcome guest. The FO team need to perform the most professional and consistently services. Especially the cold weather, they keep a good image to maintain professional. The shuttle bus driver was nice to take care us every evening back to hotel. For the room reservation, we selected the room with beautiful view Sakurajima and i could enjoy my drip coffee myself to see the sun raise. I will highly recommend this hotel to my friends.

OOlga TarAmazing hotel, truly. Conveniently located near the airport shuttle stop and tram stop. All the combini nearby, lots of restaurants and cafes. It is situated at the corner of the arcade quarters, so it is very comfortable to walk almost anywhere under the roof that protects you from both sun and rain. Walking distance from ferry to Sakurajima and toppy/rocket port to Tanegashima and Yakushima (sadly, no arcades on that stretch of distance). The rooms are nice and clean, with comfortable beds and pillows, amenities are amazing (bath salts and coffee drips even!). The service is top-notch! They even provided a shoe drying machine and helped us on several occasions. Probably best value for money in Kagoshima if you're looking for an affordable but comfortable stay.

AAnonymous UserI often travel to Japan, and Dormy Inn rooms always seem to be in high demand. The 20+ sqm twin rooms, perfect for two adults and one child, are usually impossible to book. So, when I saw this room type available in Kagoshima, I decided to book it for one night. Overall, my experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, neither adult could enjoy the onsen (hot springs) for personal reasons, which is arguably the hotel's main highlight – a real shame. The room itself was a bit small, and while cleanliness was decent, the toilet emitted a persistent garlic-like odor. On the positive side, the dining options were excellent. Breakfast featured Kagoshima's special black pork shabu-shabu and a type of sashimi. Complimentary ice cream and Yakult were available all day in the lounge on the hot spring floor, and free soy sauce ramen was served after 9:30 PM. Given these amenities, I'd say it's best suited for adults who plan to fully utilize the onsen facilities. What truly made the stay less than ideal wasn't just my inability to use the onsen. More significantly, during check-in, the front desk informed me that my reservation did not include a 3-year-old child, resulting in an additional charge for the child's accommodation and meals. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and honestly, I'm not sure who to blame. I distinctly remember booking for two adults and one child, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong in the process. Perhaps Dormy Inn and I simply weren't a good match this time. I'm well aware that Japanese hotels charge per person, so I always meticulously enter the correct number of guests and compare prices across different platforms when booking in Japan. Having visited Japan over a dozen times, this was the first instance where I was charged extra at check-in due to a discrepancy in the number of guests. I was quite surprised when informed about the booking error. Checking my Trip.com confirmation on my phone at the front desk, I saw it indeed only listed two adults. I can only fault myself for never reviewing the confirmation after booking; moving forward, I'll be sure to check them carefully to catch and correct any issues promptly. After reporting this to Trip.com customer service, they responded quickly and later reimbursed me half of the additional cost. During this trip, both hotels I booked through Trip.com had unexpected additional charges at check-in. Besides the Dormy Inn incident, another hotel in Fukuoka charged a separate accommodation tax. Interestingly, I booked a different hotel in Fukuoka on another platform, and its price already included this tax, so I didn't pay anything extra upon arrival. Moving forward, when booking hotels in Japan, I'll have to carefully consider if the lowest price offered on certain platforms might be due to hidden fees.

LLinuswangI've always preferred staying near JR stations for their convenience. Due to the heavy rain, I couldn't take the Kirishima train, so I opted for a day trip to Kagoshima instead. However, the surprise that morning was an earthquake – I was on the 8th floor and it shook me awake. The hotel was worth the price, but checking out at 10 am was really tough. I was woken up by a phone call to come downstairs to check out… I need to be more careful next time.

ZZheyanIt's about a 20-minute walk from Kagoshima Chuo Station. The Takamibaba tram stop is right in front of the bath. The large public bath is great. There aren't many washing areas, so I don't know when it gets busy, but I didn't have to wait long. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of food. It was a buffet of Japanese, Western and Chinese food. I would have preferred if there were more desserts. It was a shame that there was no cereal. The yogurt was delicious. It never gets full, but as rumored, there is quite a long queue from 6:30. The staff are not bad at all. It felt like they were doing the bare minimum.

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is near Kagoshima Station. It takes 5 minutes to get there by taking JR from Kagoshima Chuo Station. It is very convenient to walk a few hundred meters after getting off the train. The view from where I live is very good. I can see the mountain when I open the window. The big supermarket opposite the building is good. There are discounted sashimi and various rice in the afternoon. The hotel has a microwave to heat the rice. We bought some food and ate it in the hotel. It was very good. It takes only one stop to Senganen. It takes a few minutes to get off the train and arrive.

二黃What a surprisingly wonderful old ryokan! Operating for a century, its interior boasts a rich Showa-era charm. It definitely feels historic but is spotlessly clean. The true highlight was breakfast, which unexpectedly featured pork shabu-shabu. The broth was made with genuine, high-quality ingredients, and the yuzu kosho was locally sourced. Paired with the black pork, it was absolutely delicious! 😋

GGuest UserPros: The hotel locates near the west exit of Kagoshima Central Station. It takes less than 3 minutes walk to get there from the station. However it would take 8-10 minutes walk to reach the airport bus terminal which is close to the east gate of the station. Space of a double room is satisfactory and average in Japan. Cons: Breakfast is very simple so we just ignore the breakfast on the the third day. No USB sockets in the room. One should not expect much facilities and services with reference to the price.

GGuest UserEven though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book: This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options. The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors. Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor. There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.

KK Hoffman (Canada)It was too far away from Kagoshima-chuo Railway station to walk. Have to take the bus. First city in Japan that I could not use my SUICA card on the buses. Make sure you got small change. However, it's only about 10 minutes walk to the Tenmonkan Street, the shopping/eating area in Kagoshima. Nice kitchen if you want to do your own cooking. There is a vending machine on the 4th floor with beer and vodka on the rocks. Also, there are 2 laundry machines and dryers - one set on the third floor and the other on the rooftop. The rooftop had a gas dryer which is much better at drying clothes.
