There's plenty to do nearby, with Zhongwei Drum Tower, Xiangyang Street Night Market and Zhongwei Tengger Desert Star Tribe Camping Base all within a short distance. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. This Zhongwei hotel offers parking on site. Our guests consider this hotel to have excellent service. "This desert hotel is really worth it! Before bringing the children, I was worried about the difficult conditions, and the result was completely beyond expectations.
The child went crazy as soon as he entered the desert. The sandboard was borrowed by the hotel for free. The big sand dunes in the hotel were not tired after sliding down more than a dozen times. Attending a bonfire party to watch fireworks in the evening was very lively.
The sand view room, smart home, 180-degree glass windows, open the curtain to the sand view. The bedding is clean, the air conditioning is strong, and the night is very quiet.
The hotel restaurant is good for cooking and barbecue.
I really recommend it to families who want to bring their baby to experience the desert. Children can remember this trip for a long time!"

"Of all the camps in the area to choose from I highly recommend staying at this particular one. The manager Wang Shiquan and his team are incredibly good hosts and made sure I had everything I needed. As a foreigner I felt incredibly welcomed and included.
The tents are of really good quality and very roomy. The beds are really comfy too. The activities are also plentiful with quad biking, camel riding and sandboarding. Shapotou is very close by too with much to do.
Ningxia is definitely an underrated province and I highly recommend anyone to come and see it and experience the kind hospitality of it's people from this camp.

"This time I stayed at the desert tent hotel, and its facilities were far beyond my expectations! There is a viewing terrace outside the tent, equipped with comfortable lounge chairs, allowing me to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the desert sunrise and sunset. The interior of the tent is no slouch either, and it stays nice and cool even on a scorching desert day. The independent bathroom is separated into wet and dry areas, with a stable supply of hot water and high-quality toiletries. There are also a lot of entertainment facilities, including desert motorcycles, sandboards, etc., which satisfy my pursuit of exciting experiences. "My recent stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Zhongwei was a delightful surprise! Amy Yumi, the front desk attendant, greeted me with such a warm smile, and Coco had me checked in within three minutes. They even upgraded me to a larger room for free, which was spacious and bright, and came with a complimentary fruit platter. The bathroom's separate wet and dry areas were a thoughtful touch, and the Hilton-standard cleanliness put me completely at ease.
The breakfast buffet offered local specialties like the incredibly flavorful and chewy Aocai noodles. The self-service coffee machine made a latte that was just as good as anything you'd get at a cafe! The location was super convenient too; it took less than half an hour by taxi to get to the Shapotou Scenic Area. In the evenings, I could unwind at the gym.
The free laundry room was a lifesaver for travelers needing to refresh their clothes, and the printer in the lobby's business center was free to use. I even discovered that the room's power outlets had built-in USB ports!

"I knew it was off-season, but I didn't expect it to be this quiet. In the middle of nowhere, in this vast desert, it was just us and guests from one other room. There were even more staff than guests! We had to park our car in the lot and rely on the hotel's shuttle. The room was great, very clean, with AC and a private bathroom, and they didn't restrict water usage. We couldn't see any stars at night due to the weather, but the hotel put on a firework display and even gave us sparklers. Overall, it's pretty good value for money. I might come back in the off-season to enjoy the solitude again. 😂"

"As someone who pays attention to every detail, I couldn't find a single fault with this B&B in Zhongwei! The desert environment is quiet and beautiful, the air is fresh, and the views are spectacular. It's incredibly therapeutic to be away from the hustle and bustle. The room layout is well-planned and functional, with a smooth flow and thoughtful storage, making it very convenient to stay in. The facilities are comprehensive and well-maintained, with plenty of stable hot water that comes out quickly and maintains a consistent temperature. The bathroom was spotless. The bedding was brand new, clean, crisp, soft, and gentle on the skin. Both the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable, ensuring a deep and restful sleep. We played in the sand and went sandboarding during the day, and enjoyed a bonfire and fireworks display at night – the atmosphere was incredible. The owner was very punctual with pick-up and drop-off, and the ability to shower in the desert was a pleasant surprise. The photos were amazing, I'll definitely come back!

Taking advantage of the off-peak season, I came alone to experience the Yellow River Homestay. Each homestay has a different decoration style. I chose Xipo on the recommendation of my friend and was very satisfied. The facilities and services corresponding to this price are really worth it. The price of two nights in the off-season is equivalent to the price of a normal night. The hair dryer is Dyson, and the toiletries are all from the laboratory. There are also beer + drinks in the mini bar, freshly ground coffee, and freshly made bread (forgot to take a picture). The sea salt rolls are super delicious, and the scones are also good, not sweet at all, which suits my taste.
The whole homestay is very quiet, close to the Yellow River, and there are trails. If there are many people at night, you can drink, eat barbecue and watch the stars by the Yellow River.
The service of private butler Xiaoying is really excellent. She will contact the guests about three days before you check in and help arrange some matters, such as car pick-up, introduction of food, drink and entertainment nearby, food, drink and entertainment in Zhongwei, and travel photography needs. She will also recommend it. After check-in, she will also take meticulous care of the guests. She deserves 100 points. Such a niche place is highly recommended for family and couple travel. If you go to Zhongwei, you must stay at Huanghe Suji to experience the local traditional customs.

GGuest UserAs the pinnacle of luxury desert resorts, Diamond Hotel truly redefined my perception of a desert getaway. Venturing deep into the Tengger Desert, past the bustling cabins of Desert Star Hotel, a futuristic, diamond-shaped hotel came into view. This time, I stayed in room 9209, a Star Diamond Room, which was the closest to the hotel's central axis, offering a direct view of the hotel's iconic landmark – the Star Chapel. The in-room amenities were top-notch: a SMEG kettle and coffee machine, a Dyson humidifier, Acqua di Parma toiletries, and even electric toothbrushes. If it were just about the hardware, it wouldn't quite reach 'pinnacle' status. I believe what truly sets Diamond Hotel apart is its butler service – responsive to every call, and no request is too much trouble. I distinctly remember the significant temperature difference in the desert, and I felt a bit under the weather. I asked the butler if they had ginger tea, and they immediately arranged for the kitchen to brew some and deliver it to my room. While drinking it, I noticed a unique flavor and discovered it contained not only ginger but also local goji berries, which was truly excellent. The hotel's price point is indeed on the higher side, but with airport transfers, transportation within the scenic area, and the meticulous butler service, it's definitely worth the experience.

GGuest UserI absolutely loved this place! I’m writing this as a foreigner who went with 4 other foreigners for a special birthday weekend. First, the service. We have good Chinese proficiency, but those with limited to none will be fine. Most of the communication and coordination is handled via WeChat - which can auto translate. 东 “Dong” was our main contact. He rocked and gave us a real experience. He shuttled us in the sand jeep, gifted me a cake for my birthday, and was just an overall cool guy. Thanks! Second, the location and accommodations. If you stay near Desert Star, there’s a lot of people and campsites - that area seems like a bit of a tourist funnel. This area is located in the REAL sand dunes area. Further North, you actually cross into Inner Mongolia. The separation and distance is worth it. Makes for brighter stars and a more authentic experience. Third, the food. They were able to coordinate a whole lamb to be roasted for my birthday. It was absolutely extraordinary. The sides for it were some of the best I had on the entire trip - they have some skilled chefs there. This place has great reviews, and it’s worth it. I do recommend this to foreigners, and I hope I can return one day.

It is pretty far away from the Zhongwei's downtown, and Tengger Desert is actually already counted as Inner Mongolia.
We came there at the low season, and the weather was quite freezing. Luckily the owner had informed us about the weather, so we changed our booking in time.
Even with a heater the room was still pretty cold. I can't imagine if we booked a tent.
The scenery was beautiful enough. Not too many events because there were not many tourists, thus we had a good relaxing time there.
The breakfast was simple ane satisfying. We enjoyed the meals.
The owner also gave us some souvenirs when we left the camp.
Note: We wished that there were a sweeper in the room. We would carry some sand in every time we got into the room. It would be great if there's a mat in front of the bathroom.

GGuest UserThe room environment feels comfortable, the hotel is in a good location, and the transportation is generally convenient. Duoduo at the front desk said that there is Hengdian Cinema nearby. We went to the snack street in the evening, which is not far from the hotel and can be reached in a few minutes on foot. The room is comfortable and sanitary, the front desk and room attendants are happy to provide all kinds of help, the facilities are very smart, and the price-performance ratio is good. It is the first choice for next stay.

The heating and air conditioning are sufficient, giving southerners a full sense of security. There are also many types of breakfast, and in order to avoid waste, they are very considerate and cut into small pieces. When breakfast is about to end, they will knock on the door of each room to ask if you have eaten breakfast. The service was very good and enthusiastic. The air conditioner was already on when I checked in. The lady at the front desk also helped to deliver the luggage to the room and explained the precautions very considerately.
