My partner was coming down with a cold and got some ginger soup to drink. Additionally, when we screwed up our schedule and almost couldn't make our train out of Shaoshan, with no train available to reschedule, the couple arranged for the husband to drive us to the station for little more than gas money. It's up a slight hill from the other inns and allows one to get a bit of peace and quiet, again, even on the busiest day of the year, when Shaoshan is very worth a visit for anyone interested in Mao Zedong's legacy, given the number of Chinese people who show up to sing, dance, wave various flags and give speeches. A family of four took advantage of the holiday to visit the birthplace of Chairman Mao in Shaoshan. We were able to book a 1.5-meter twin room, which is rare in other cities. The environment is good, not far from the core scenic spot of Lushan (Mao Zedong's former residence, the Great Man Statue Square). The room and bathroom area are quite large and clean. When we stayed, it was the off-season for tourism. The farm was only four of us, a bit deserted. Plus the air conditioner is not very powerful, and it feels uncomfortable for those of us who are used to living in a place with heating in winter. The farm has parking spaces, free of charge.
