"Booed through trip.com. Made a mistake in my booking and booed a room that required disabled access. This was pointed out by a very helpful young lady called Laura (I think?)   She amended our booking and very gratefully gave us a sea view room!  We had stayed in Paignton the previous night in the Travelodge down the road as it was a bit cheaper. If/when we come again I’d have no hesitation in paying the extra and staying here again.  Please thank the wonderful Laura from us! 👍 Mr & Mrs Joyce"

"Myself and my wife stayed at the guest house from Monday to Friday. From the minute we arrived we were greeted by Chaz, he even came to my car and was extremely friendly. The hotel was perfect location to all the amenities in Paignton. Information given to us about the guest house and about things to do, places to eat and public transport was exceptional. The guest house was extremely clean and well presented, the daily duties carried out were completed every day. The entire place was lovely and we will both be back. Don’t knock this guest house until you’ve payed them a visit. Kelly and Chaz, you’ve done yourself proud. Best Guest house so far. 🥰😀 Abbie and Leanne"

"Just got back from an Easter stay at St Edmund's Guest House and couldn't be happier. Linda and Roger are so warm and welcoming, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The breakfast each morning was superb with lots of options to choose from - and we saved a fortune not eating out each morning at an expensive café! Our room (number 9) was immaculate and beautifully decorated - as was the place as a whole. Location is perfect too, as just a stone's throw from the beach. We've already booked our next stay with them for the summer holidays!"

"Second visit here since James and Christine took over. It's great. It's clean, well organised and really comfortable. Recommend James' breakfasts. It's nice to feel really well looked after, and it's great value. Also - 2 minutes from the lovely Preston Sands, slightly less busy than Paignton main seafront, and great for a paddle in the evening when the heat has gone!"

"Lovely warm, clean, tidy and friendly B&B - highly recommended. Set 'out of town' in a quiet part of Paignton but a short walk to the harbour and a bit further on into town - perfect for us. Also a short walk to Goodrington Beach- where we viewed the Train of Lights on the Saturday evening. We were lucky to be the only guests over the weekend so literally had the place to ourselves. 3 parking spaces out the front so we took our pick. It was pouring with rain and we'd arrived a bit early but Peter came out and invited us in, such a warm and friendly welcome. Showed us the breakfast room and our room, which was ground floor and warm. Gave us keys to both doors so easy for us to get in and out when we preferred. Nothing was too much trouble for Peter and his breakfasts were amazing (especially the fried bread and scrambled eggs!). He loved a chat, and so do we.....perfect! We will be back Peter. "Dirty hotel with dust visible climbing the stairs to the second floor around the banister. I stayed in room 12 a double. Shower had lots of mould around the base of the shower cubicle and the shower head was broken with water spraying out at all angles, with the shower head breaking off in my hand. The small sink in the room appears blocked as water takes a while to drain away. Bedside light (not above the bed) doesn’t work. Toilet roll holder came off the stud wall! No plug points by the bed. Notice on the wall in reception for guests to contact staff out of hours for any issues so I rang mobile number to advise about the shower head, but It went to voice mail. I left a message but no reply or text back to acknowledge. All in all very shoddy even at £40 odd quid a night. Wouldn’t stay again and certainly wouldn’t recommend."

"Although the standard twin bed room we occupied is quite small, it is well decorated, has modern furniture and is spotlessly clean. There is a recent shower unit, a TV, a fan, and tea and coffee making facilities. There are twin electrical sockets and 4 USB outlets adjacent to each bed. While the window looks along the coast rather than directly out to sea, the view is very pleasant. The English breakfast was good, and the manager, Adam, very helpful. There is parking on a hard-standing at the side of the hotel. The sea and pier are close by, and the main shopping area is walkable. Overall we enjoyed our stay a lot. Two constructive suggestions are (1) a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries which won't stand on top of the curved sink, and (2) provision of a toilet brush."

"It's hard to review this time because booking was moved to the Mercure next door. I understand why but I do prefer the Ibis. NOTE this review relates to Mercure Paignton. Staff friendly and welcoming and though room had everything I needed it was dark. The privacy panel on the window and the dark furniture made it too dark for me. Am not a black and gold person, prefer light and bright. That being said facilities were great, bed very comfortable and show hot and powerful. One downside was TV remote, had a nightmare and needed to 'Google' to work out how to use it. I didnt eat onsite."

"In early January I called Chaz at the Bella Vista Guest House, a place I have used a few times and told him my Mom was unwell and I was flying in from Spain and needed accommodation. Chaz and his wife Kelly are more like family and I was told there would be a room ready when I arrived. I was warmly welcomed, dumped my bag and Chaz took me to the retirement home. It was later I found that Chaz & Kelly were on break with the house actually closed for business. I had a few days with my Mom who sadly passed away and Chaz put up with me in total for three weeks. The room I had was spotless, as usual with the towels and bedding changed regularly. Chaz & Kelly were amazing in their caring for me, nothing was too much trouble and I give them a very heart felt thanks and would recomend them to anybody looking for accommodation in the middle of the shops and bars of Paignton"
