Mercure Paignton Hotel
"Very nice room this room very comfortable … I like this hotel .. very good very nice"
Ibis Styles Paignton
"Had a lovely weekend stay at the Ibis in Paignton, this is our third stay and the hotel is very clean, comfortable and affordable. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will return again soon."
The Esplanade Hotel by Compass Hospitality
"Awful, avoid. Gutted I booked this hotel. If your staying in Paignton just don't book here. Check the reviews on this hotel for yourself. The team there doesn't care so why should you spend your money staying there cheap or not. Pay a bit more and stay somewhere a lot better."
The Queens Hotel
"Bathroom sink had hairs on it otherwise the rest of room was fine."
Marine Hotel
"Good views, rooms clean, but biggest issue is no wifi coverage at room. Dinner also quite expensive."
St Weonards
"Absolutely loved our stay here, Leigh and Vicky are so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is spotless and clean. Beds were comfy and the rooms have all the amenities you could need. Breakfast is fantastic and the hotel so well located to town and the beach. Will stay again and again."
Torbay Court Hotel
"Good points: 1: Efficient housekeeping. 2: Great location. 3: Generally friendly staff. Bad points: 1: The shower in room 102 is a risk. It starts off scalding, remains scalding for a few minutes, then you get pleasantly hot for a while, then it turns scalding again. I mentioned after my first morning, requesting a room change. On my return I was told it had been fixed. It hadn't, I had the same problem on all eleven mornings. I didn't bother mentioning it again. Someone will get scalded though. 2: I arrived late and after checking in arranged for a friend to visit me for a while. The night porter point-blank refused to admit my friend who was only visiting for a short while anyway, not staying overnight. Most other hotels this is not a problem. They mentioned fire safety but if they take a note of the additional guest visiting, that's not a problem. I understand it's the hotel's policy but it felt rather antiquated and like I was staying at my parents' house, not a hotel. The attention I was given throughout my stay leaned towards the intrusive with comments like 'a late start this morning then' as I walked out past reception. 3: A more minor point but there is no hand soap provided, only the shower gel dispenser in the shower. So to wash your hands with soap, you have to twist, lean and stretch into the shower to get soap for your hands. I wouldn't book again."
The Palace Hotel
"We only stayed for one night, we went out to eat and have a drink, we came back to the hotel, we went to the bar for drink, sat at the bar for 10 minutes with no service so we to our rooms, we thought it would be nice to have a drink at the hotel."
Travelodge Paignton Seafront
"Location was fantastic 2 minutes walk to the beach , 10 minutes to town. Looks very tired on the outside and the parking is 1st come 1st served basis. So if you’ve paid £16 for your stay for 2 days, you’ve been out, come back there may not be a space to park. So we paid £8 just in case there was no space when we had been out in the car. Staff were lovely, smiling, helpful & always willing to help. Downsides - bed was really uncomfortable, pillows were really hard ( but this is as personal preference) .The towels are bath sheets which was brilliant and they were immaculate & the shower gel & hand wash was a lovely scent and did not dry my skin. There was only one double plug in the whole room. There is USB chargers on both sides of the bed but one did not work so had no plug socket next to the bed to give me an alternative option to charge my phone. I can’t speak highly of the staff, smiling, interactive & helping with local places to go or things to do. They were very hot on security and room cards which was reassuring."

Cherwood Guest House
"This is an excellent guesthouse. My wife and I stayed for 6 nights and it was great. First of all, Martin and Jo are lovely hosts, friendly and welcoming willing to please. The rooms are spotless and a reasonable size. The bed was very comfortable indeed. The breakfast was high quality, cooked to order, not buffet style like some places. It was plentiful and varied. The coffee was good. Martin also offered a discount car parking permit for the nearby victoria car park, even though I had forgotten about this during the booking. Thank you, Martin! Now I do have a few negative points but they are extremely minor and did not detract from our stay at all. The ensuite did not have an anti-slip mat. We asked for one and Martin provided one immediately. Perhaps these could just be put in each room as standard. The hook on the door for coats uses double-sided sticky tape, so unsurprisingly this did not hold and fell off. We reported this to Martin right away and he seemed surprised that it could not bear the weight. He didn't charge us. I suggest that coat hooks are screwed into the door. We found that the breakfast procedure involves filling in a form to say exactly what you want. The form is quite detailed but luckily we only had to fill it in once, since we wanted the same thing every day. This is quite an unusual procedure, but it's ok. There is a little board on the entrance to the dining area where you have to put room number to indicate if you want the 8am or 9am breakfast sitting. We remembered each day. I don't know what would have happened if we forgot. This too is a slightly unusual procedure, but again, it's ok. Now about the room. It was a good size and tastefully decorated, clean and fresh. You could also open the windows fully if you want, which is not possible in some places, so that was welcome. There was a modern TV which with a decent screen size and which was a recent enough model that it worked with our nvidia sheild that we brought with us. There were tea and coffee facilities as standard including an option of oat milk for the tea. There was only one pair of small biscuits so we just bought some more from the nearby Tesco express. The shower was rather feeble and it took a long while before it would run hot. That was a bit of a disappointment. Also the size of the basin in the ensuite was extremely small, so having a wet shave was awkward. I have never seen a basin that small before. The ensuite had a pair of high quality dressing gowns and had good quality towels. Shampoo and conditioner were supplied via dispenser attached to the shower wall. These emitted a rather tiny quantity per squirt but we brough our own stuff with us, so we didn't mind. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and we thoroughly recommend the Cherwood despite the few minor issues mentioned. It was the well appointed spotless room with very comfortable bed and the great welcoming and helpful attitude of Martin and Jo that really made it a pleasurable stay."
The Clydesdale
"Really enjoyed our stay with Diane and Tommy. Our room was brilliant, very very clean and the breakfasts were also very good. Both Diane and Tommy are very knowledgeable about the local area and we parked the car up for the week and used the local buses for touring round Devon after Diane's advice. The bus services are first class. Regular and on time. Tommy seemed to know the location of all the Wetherspoon's in Devon. They were brilliant host's and the highlight of the day was always breakfast - get down early because the cabaret starts first thing. Would highly recommend and revisit. Come on England"
The Haldon Guest House
"Very nice traditional guest house run by a lovely couple. Situated in Beach Road and a few minutes Walk to the beach and bus and train stations. Good choice at breakfast time with full English, fruit cereals etcetera. Really enjoyed our stay so much to do in this area"
Ambassador Guest House Bed and Breakfast
"Arrived in the evening and was met eventually, as the door bell wasn't functioning, by Marc. Who was very apologetic as they had only taken over that day! The room was very clean with everything you would need for our 3 night stay. The tea and coffee tray was excellent with lovely tasty biscuits too. After a comfortable night's sleep we were greeted by Sarah and Marc. Breakfast was so nice with good quality products and well cooked. Good choice of food as the continental breakfast was just as scrummy. We were so impressed that they had just taken over and definitely worked hard, even though they must have been shattered, to make our stay perfect. Would strongly recommend them as sure they will go from strength to strength. Wish I them well in their new venture."
Rosemead Guest House
"Rosemead guest house, Keith+Margaret, great hosts, very good breakfasts, whole of the b+b spotlessly clean and tidy, anything to do with a happy stay for their guests is not a problem. This is why we return to them year on year. With our love to them for all they have done for us. From, Graeme, Charlotte and son Jacob."
