"We booked directly with Lal via his WhatsApp number - he responded quickly and it was a quick and straightforward way to arrange the stay. Lal and his family were the perfect hosts for our stay in Sigiriya. We arrived with vague ideas about what we might do, and Lal quickly turned this into an itinerary that squeezed as much as we could into our two short days. Lal arranged tuk-tuks to key sites, meals and a safari to Kaudulla National Park. He also helped us organise and catch our bus to Kandy. Lal’s local knowledge and recommendations made our stay incredibly enjoyable! A highlight of our stay were the fabulous dinners and breakfasts prepared by Lal’s family. We enjoyed a range of Sri Lankan dishes and were extremely well fed our entire stay. The room itself was very clean and had all the basics for a comfortable stay. The room was private, peaceful and air-conditioned. The veranda at the front was perfect for relaxing after a busy day. We would recommend a stay with Lal to anyone - it was a real highlight of our trip!"

"Dhanu-san was incredibly kind. I asked him to handle everything, from tours to transfers for my mountain climb. Thanks to him, I had a wonderful trip. There's a hairdryer available, but if you have long hair, I recommend bringing your own. The delicious breakfast was also a lifesaver."

Hungry Lion Sigiriya

"Very near to Sigitiya Lions Rock. But the service quality is extremely poor. We four people checked in on 15.09.24 for two nights. Rooms are quite big but the Sit Conditioners installed are not enough for such big rooms. No or absolute little cooling effect. Also no telephone inside the room to call for room service. Everytime you need to visit ground floor if you require something which is really inconvenient for a guest checking in a hotel. We ordered two chicken noodles and one egg fried rice for dinner which are astronomicallu over priced. Moreover they served small portions of chicken fried rice and kept us on waiting over an hour. Later we came to know there are no stock of egg fried rice and they have sent someone outside to bring the same. Just poor service. The breakfast served on 16.09.24 was sumptuous and tasty. Sumdun is a very cunning person as they will always try to fool you. While checking out they were trying to cheat us by adding 8 bottles of water at 150LKR instead of 130LKR which is the MRP. Moreover they charged 10% service charge without providing any damn service. Absolute bunch of cheats. When we confronted them they revised the bill and falsely charged us that we have broken their electricil kettle. Also threatened us with dire consequences by call the police. Again when we protested they backed off. Never book this hotel.Never ever."

Lions Gate Homestay

"Terrific hotel, scrupulously clean and comfortable. Bernard was a superb host and could not do enough for us. For example, after we checked out (to go to Lion Rock) he kindly offered use of his lovely pool afterwards, knowing we’d be very hot after 3 hours there. Really couldn’t fault it."
