"We stayed here for 3 nights and what a lovely place to stay! The staff are very accommodating and will make sure you have everything you need to have the experience in Sigiriya! They offer trips and tours from the hotel which we didn’t know so booked separately but they came to the rescue when our second day tour was cancelled! The owner quickly got a service running to show us the ancient city of Polunuwara! The breakfast is lovely! We got a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast on our second day which was lovely and eggs, toast fruit etc the other days which was perfect for us! We did loose electricity one but this was due to the scared day and needing power elsewhere for celebrations! This was no problem as the owners made sure to have everything up and running for us by the time we returned from our first day trip! It is only a short walk to restaurants and the lake so is in the best spot! Would 100% recommend here to stay in sigiri!"

"Our stay at Fresco Water Villa was very disappointing. The room had a lot of mosquitoes and insects, which made it very uncomfortable to stay in. The condition of the room was poor, and the furniture was old, damaged, and not properly usable. The food was another major disappointment. There were almost no vegetarian options available, and the quality was so poor that we chose not to eat there at all. Overall, the hotel did not meet our expectations, and I would not recommend it based on our experience."

"One of the best hotels I lived in Sri Lanka, running by a local family. They are very nice and hospitable and even provided very delicious local breakfast with wild honey and welcome coconut water. The room was a quite big with high ceiling, clean and all the stuffs were available. The hotel is in the closest location to climb the rock mountain called Pidurangala to view panorama view of Sigiri and sunrise and sunset and very close to Sigiri Lion Rock as well. The hotel can provide car and jeep services. Jeep safari to see a herd and other wild animals were quite an experience to feel the wilderness and nature. This hotel is 100% recommended when you are in Sigiriya. If you need a car service for city to city travel, here is the service provider, called Danu and his contact number is (0774) 642 805. He is a nice and humble guy with certified local guide. We got his service from Sigiriya to Kandy to Yalla to Colombo, the trip went very smooth and we are happy that we covered all the attractions places with his assistance. Highly recommended!!"

"The hotel is a bit off the main road, nestled in the jungle. It has a large, beautiful property with a decent restaurant that served tasty food. In the room, there's a concrete bed and concrete countertops, and the outlets are inconveniently located under the nightstands. Maybe the design was cool initially, but now it looks a bit tired. What I didn't like was the lack of soap (though they brought some when I asked), and the shower gel and shampoo bottles were already half-used. Also, the toilet seat didn't fit properly. The hotel staff, in general, were willing to help with any issues within their power."

From the minute we arrived at Amaara Forest, the welcome we received and how our every need was catered to until we departed, was truly exceptional. The staff believe in traditional Sri Lankan hospitality with their welcoming smile & warmth. For us it was a getaway with buddies to unwind and enjoy serenity in the midst of a forest, which we did to the maximum. For those who love & value nature, this is a "hidden gem" !! The attractions or our heritages such as the majestic, Sigiriya is a short drive and so are the mature reserves that include the famous Minneriya Nature Reserve, where elephants can be observed in their natural habitat. When we left Amaara Forest, after a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast at their famous "Tree Tops" which is built halfway up a tree on a sturdy platform, we were serenaded by a flutist as well. We soaked in the peace and the sounds of nature with gratitude for having stayed in a wonderous place. We left with the promise of returning for a similar experience in the neat future. "Magical treehouse jungle stay! Amazing to listen to the birds, rain and nature as you go to sleep and wake up. A real nature retreat, outside treehouse. Clean (of course some bugs as it’s outside, but not many), friendly staff and loads to do! An amazing experience to stay here. All you could need for a basic outdoorsy stay, shower/bathroom, bedroom etc. (no fancy bits eg hair dryer, but that’s not why we booked) a real Eco / nature experience! Loads to do in the are, walks/views, safari, bird watching, temples etc. Breakfast there’s tea/coffee, fresh fruit, toast and eggs and for lunch/dinner lovely vegetarian restaurant 2min walk next door (we went 3 times!) Overall worth a visit for the experience which we throughly enjoyed."

As it's located in the middle of the jungle, I recommend it to those who are comfortable in the jungle! And the food prepared by Danu's wife is exquisite! Breakfast has a different menu every morning, and dinner can be prepared upon request (for an extra charge). They also provide transportation to and from Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala Rock, as well as check-in and check-out transfers upon request."

"A wonderful family hotel in a wooded area. It's like a piece of heaven with its small pool among cashew, lemon, cinnamon and jackfruit trees. The room we stayed in was even better and more quality than 5-star hotels. It had a 50 m2 room and a huge bathroom. Right next to the hotel, wild elephants came and went from time to time, squirrels and monkeys were playing with each other in the garden in front of us. The owner of the hotel personally helped with every subject for the tour. I can't think of a better place for a wonderful hotel room, spotlessly clean and surrounded by greenery. I highly recommend it."

"The hotel is generally good, but overpriced. Due to its proximity to nature, be prepared for monkeys running on the roofs of the buildings and wild elephants in the surrounding area. The views around are breathtaking. On the downside: weak breakfasts (wide selection, but not much tasty food) and insects in the room."
