The Sokha Beach Resort is an old fashioned 5-star resort hotel in colonial style, situated at the beachfront in Sihanoukville. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are well maintained and are spacious with a balcony . There is a nice nice swimming pool with sufficient sun beds. A good continental breakfast is served. WiFi was working flawless, even at the pool area.
However, there are points that made us shorten our stay. The private beach of the hotel is clean daily. Unfortunately; this is not the fault of the hotel, waste water of the city is discharged untreated into the bay so that the water is yellowish, probably contaminated with human waste. There is an unpleasant foul smell everywhere. During day time, permanent noise from a big construction site right next to the hotel is incommoding . In spite of the pleasant big park that belongs to the hotel, the surrounding next to the resort is spoilt by high rise buildings of which some are still under construction or are half-finished. They intend to be mostly casinos. We found this environment unpleasant. No good, typical restaurants could be found in walking distance. Altogether Sihanoukville is a dire place for vacation, unless the visitor is in gambling and casinos.
Good option for a short stopover with a sea view.
We stayed at the hotel with our family for one day. It's a quiet place, with its main advantage being a wonderful sea view directly from the window. It’s ideal for those who primarily value the panorama and tranquility over a beach holiday (the hotel truly doesn't have its own beach).
What we liked:
· **Friendly staff:** We were greeted warmly, and all our questions were resolved promptly.
· **Cleanliness:** The bed linen and towels were absolutely fresh and impeccably clean.
· **Location:** The sea view from the window is simply captivating.
· **Value for money:** The price per night fully matches what was offered.
Areas for improvement:
· **Breakfast:** A bit monotonous. Although everyone can find something they like, more variety would be appreciated.
· **Renovation:** The furniture in the room is a bit outdated and could use an update.
**Conclusion:** The hotel leaves a pleasant impression. We got exactly what we paid for: a clean room with a sea view, a modest breakfast, and a friendly welcome. For a short stopover, it’s an excellent, affordable option.
The hotel is very clean and the waiter is very friendly. Although a bit remote, it is very quiet, free shuttle bus three times a day can take you to the beach and the city. The building is very Cambodian and the pool and gym are great.
It is a perfect place if you want to relax in a great beach. Some kind of wilderness is part of the experience. The bar and restaurant has everything you need. If you want to join more noisy places you can rent a scooter. People are friendly and most of them speak English. The bungalows are enough for two people. A nice terrace is in front of them. Everything is open to nature. The sea is perfect for swimming not for snorkeling.
