GGuest UserThis time I went to the niche country of Oman 🇴🇲 and chose the Palace Hotel, which should have been used by the royal family in the past. It is magnificent and has a private beach. 🉐Thanks to Ctrip for communicating with the hotel and giving me the MASIRAH ROOM sea view room on the 6th floor facing the sea. During the few days I stayed, there were very few Chinese people, and most of them were white people. The hotel's Al Khiran Kitchen buffet breakfast was very rich, with a variety of fruits. Unfortunately, the Chinese restaurant China Mood was closed due to the Spring Festival. The sea view Western restaurant The Pavilion was expensive, but the taste was very good and the environment was beautiful.
The only flaw is that Oman is not a tipping country, but the waiters here intentionally or unintentionally give people the feeling of asking for tips. This was not found on the Internet before coming here. Perhaps it is because there are more white people here and they are used to it, so I went to exchange the local currency for this purpose. After a week in Oman, I stayed in a total of two hotels and learned that the porters would 🈶 ask for tips, and when paying the bill in the restaurant, you may need to tip the cleaners, but if you don't care about them, it's OK not to give them, because it is not a tipping country. Girls must experience SPA, amazing~
GGuest UserDisappointing week in a disappointing hotel. From the moment we landed in Oman, the intercontinental hotel was not helpful. When we asked for a taxi, they wouldn’t help us and we had to arrange ourselves. When we asked if we had a sea view, we were told “we had a partial sea view” which was actually a car park and a loud generator which rattled on all through the night. The generator was so loud we had to keep the balcony doors closed all the time. However, one night, even with the doors closed we were kept awake until 3am with loud bangs and clatters from hotel staff loading up vans with furniture after an event at the hotel. When we asked about booking the onsite restaurants, we were told they were all closed apart from the main one. Multiple times when we went to the main restaurant we were told it was too busy and we had to wait and come back later. When we did get into the restaurant, we often had to wait long times for food to be replaced or we given paper cups because they’d run out of glasses! When we tried to get the WiFi at the pool, there was none. When we tried to use the creams in the room, they’d run out. The staff were lovely and the food was nice but altogether, we didn’t feel looked after and definitely don’t feel this is a 5* hotel.
GGuest UserSimply amazing! We loved every second of our stay at The Chedi! The staff was really, really friendly and attentive and we felt 100% welcome and seen. The architecture was stunning, the three different pools left us breathtaking and breakfast was outstanding as well. We would definitely return and can 100% recommend to stay here, relax and unwind :)
GGuest UserThe hotel is nice, but it is being reconstructed. Half of the services are not provided. The pool is closed. That is the only reason we wanted to go there. But no one warned us in advance
GGuest UserNice location in quiet residential area near beach. Hotel has limited parking on site. Public areas and rooms were clean. Receptionist tried to reduce to a single room from the double that I had booked. Pointed this out and was given a double ...... next to the lift, despite the hotel being practically. Poor soundproofing meant that I could hear every conversation in the corridor.
Tried the pool which is on the second floor in the middle of the hotel. No towels available. I did ask a member of staff but none were forthcoming. Restaurant was empty and no bars were open as it was Eid. Service was polit and there was an extensive menu. Additional guidance on the menu explaining the dishes would have been helpful.
Bar and restaurant downstairs also closed.
Breakfast service staff were helpful and offered alternative options which were not laid out on buffet.
