Spacious, bright, and quiet, with convenient public transportation – the bus stop is 5 minutes away and the subway station is 10 minutes. The night view from the window is beautiful. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful, there's plenty of hot water, strong air conditioning, and a smart toilet. My stay was very comfortable, especially my child loved it! This was largely thanks to Kitty's thoughtful service; she was responsive and friendly. Definitely five stars!

Stayed at the InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland, also known as the 'Deep Pit Hotel,' during 'Xiao Nian' (Minor New Year). Located 88 meters below ground, it's a truly unique architectural marvel, recognized as one of the world's top ten architectural wonders – a definite must-see! The check-in process was incredibly smooth; we were able to get into our room before 12 PM. Every bed in the room faces the deep pit, and the balcony is spacious. From there, you can see a waterfall, a pool of water at the bottom of the pit, and the Ferris wheel, skywalk, and bungee jumping at the Deep Pit Shimao Wonderland amusement park across the way. You can even lie in bed and enjoy the waterfall view. The room amenities are excellent, with a shower and bathtub, and a well-designed wet/dry separation. Overall, the facilities are top-notch, and the breakfast is plentiful. The real-time cliff light and shadow show at night is particularly impressive and spectacular. Drawing inspiration from the 'Classic of Mountains and Seas,' it showcases unique oriental mythical stories. The butler service was outstanding. I lost my ID when I visited the Wonderland park the day before, and our butler, Bruce, was incredibly proactive in helping me search for it. He found it the very next day, which was a huge help. Many thanks to Butler Bruce!

The room was quiet and comfortable, and the separate toilet and shower in two individual bathrooms were very practical. The marble hard furnishings in the bathrooms were well-maintained and didn't feel dated. The room layout was also very sensible. Breakfast was extensive, with both Chinese and Western options being excellent. The pan-fried buns and youtiao (fried dough sticks) were especially delicious and served piping hot. On the first day of Chinese New Year, there was even a professional lion dance performance during breakfast, which added to the festive atmosphere. The executive lounge offered a cozy environment for afternoon tea and dinner, with good food and service. The service at all stages was excellent, professional, attentive, proactive, and enthusiastic. Even during the Chinese New Year period, most requests were met, making for a very pleasant stay.

During the Chinese New Year, twin room options in Shanghai were limited, but we needed to book two twin rooms, and importantly, we didn't want sealed windows. The InterContinental Shanghai Pudong perfectly met our requirements. Located right in the heart of Lujiazui, the hotel boasts an excellent location with convenient transportation.

The service, as always, was outstanding. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, and the restaurant and room services were also impeccable. Even with a minor issue, the hotel was quick to respond, truly making guests feel respected and valued. I highly recommend booking your room with breakfast included. The variety is rich and comprehensive; booking it separately at the front desk costs 186 RMB, so including it in your room rate is a great deal.

I must commend both InterContinental and Trip.com here. I initially forgot to add breakfast to my booking, and it was a non-modifiable, non-cancellable reservation. Thanks to the hotel and Trip.com for providing a perfect solution that allowed us to enjoy breakfast smoothly.

My only small suggestion is that it would be even better if the breakfast offered a few more Shanghai local specialties, such as 'shengjian' (pan-fried buns) or 'suji' (mock duck).

The environment is excellent, with the hotel comprising several charming villas. The garden area is very spacious. The front desk staff in the main building were very enthusiastic. Because our child wanted a bath, they upgraded us to a room in Building 3, which has a bathtub, and also gave us a souvenir. The only downside is that it's a bit further from the main building, closer to the Maoming Road entrance, but you can request a shuttle service. Actually, the rooms in Building 2 looked good too, but apparently, they don't have bathtubs. When checking out, we did so in Building 1, and the staff member there was also super friendly; I just forgot to catch his name.

The hotel's buffet breakfast was pretty good, with a decent variety and tasty options.

I bought some pastries like 'hadou' (a local pastry) and butterfly crisps from the patisserie at the hotel entrance. They all tasted great, but the packaging was very simple. I wouldn't recommend the coffee, as it's just the same coffee from the hotel breakfast machine. There are so many better coffee shops on Ruijin Road and Nanchang Road nearby; this one was really bland.

Stayed here with my parents during the Spring Festival, and it was a great hotel. They upgraded us to a river-view room, and the package also included a dinner. The 890 yuan package offered fantastic value for money.

**Environment:** As seen in the pictures, you can capture the 'three-piece set' (referring to the iconic Shanghai skyscrapers) from the river view. The environment is indeed excellent.

**Service:** The overall service was commendable, as they arranged for a room upgrade and late check-out. A small suggestion: as an established five-star hotel, it might be beneficial to introduce a butler service. They could contact guests a day in advance to prepare for check-in, and then all subsequent communication could be handled directly with the butler.

Specifically booked the InterContinental for Chinese New Year to watch the fireworks show over Dishui Lake. I heard the National Day and CNY shows are special 12-minute versions, so I definitely went for it. After booking on Ctrip, a private butler added me on WeChat. Our private butler, Linda, was incredibly attentive [smiley face emoji], explaining all the details, including the best spots to view the fireworks. She even sent videos from two directions, and honestly, the pool view seemed the best. We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade, so after watching the main fireworks, we could enjoy a second round from our balcony with some late-night snacks. The bathtub 🛁 is really great and a must-try. Linda, our butler, even sent us some disposable bath liners, which were very useful.

Just got back from Shenzhen, and my stay at this InterContinental was really comfortable. The room had a great view, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city skyline. The bedding was just the right firmness, and I slept soundly all night. The slippers were especially thick and soft, very comfortable to wear.

The beef ball noodles at breakfast were perfectly springy – I had two bowls! The location is convenient; it's about a 20-minute drive from the airport, and the Exhibition Center is within walking distance.

I particularly want to mention Linda. When I was checking in, she saw I was carrying a laptop bag and proactively chose a quiet, high-floor room for me. The next day, when I asked for directions, she helped me look up the route and even drew a small map, which was really thoughtful.

I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shenzhen.

The staff's service attitude was really good, especially the outdoor kids' club staff, who were excellent. Breakfast was the most satisfying part. However, the mattress in the room was absolutely terrible. I've never experienced a five-star hotel mattress where the entire bed shakes when one person turns over. Considering that most guests at this hotel are likely families booking this 2-meter king-size bed, those who are light sleepers should seriously reconsider. My husband and I barely slept well.

Also, the Utopia kids' club is split into indoor and outdoor sections, and the fact that the indoor part costs extra is quite off-putting. It feels like an in-house hotel facility, yet guests have to pay an additional 200 RMB to use it. I suggest either using different names or clearly stating that the hotel room only includes access to the outdoor play facilities. In fact, the outdoor section was already great and more than sufficient; even the carousel was free, and there was a building block house. The indoor play area feels like it's purely designed to annoy guests.

This hotel is our top choice for family vacations with kids – the experience was absolutely fantastic! We got a complimentary upgrade to the Executive Floor during check-in, which was much quieter than the main building.

The Executive Floor has its own breakfast area, so there were no long queues. It was spacious and comfortable, and the food was exquisite, which made the kids very happy. The hotel also has a private beach that’s clean and not crowded, with soft sand, so the little ones could play and dig without a worry.

The family-friendly facilities are in the main building, with a well-equipped kids' club and plenty of activities to keep the children entertained and burn off their energy. Overall, it's a peaceful and relaxing place. I highly recommend coming during off-peak holidays for a wonderful beach vacation vibe, a great alternative to Sanya.

Our overall experience at the hotel was excellent. They tried their best to accommodate all our requests before check-in, such as a quiet, non-smoking room near the elevator. As soon as we got out of the car, staff came to help with our luggage and took it directly to our room. For all 8 days of our stay, the room was cleaned impeccably every day. The view of Tokyo Bay from the window was stunning. What truly stood out was how seriously and incredibly quickly the customer service team responded to our calls for deliveries, always completing our requests promptly.

Room and bed were very comfortable, immaculately clean and modern. 2 mins walk from train station, if you need lift access to train then a 6 mins walk, we had a stroller.  

Breakfast was a bit of a zoo, we went during Christmas, very busy! But tables were spacious so even though there were so many people you don’t feel cramped. Good variety of food selection. We had dinner at the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. Delicious, especially the tuna salad. 

I found the lobby staff a little lack of personality, at check in, no mentioning of where breakfast will be, what time check out is. Just checked you in and that’s it, no personal notes in the room. When I expressed I’ve lost my phone at the shop in Tokyo, no sign of empathy (it was a western male staff) no gesture of helpfulness, very cold and robotic. This goes for concierge also, he is an older western gentleman, he needs to use Google translate also which is frustrating cause I could do exactly the same research with Google translate. 

Overall, hardware is solid, need to fine tune the staff, sprinkle a little bit of personality in them.

A true five-star hotel.

Pros: Convenient location, just a five-minute walk from Shinagawa Station via a skybridge. The facilities are new, the rooms are spacious (for Japan), clean, and the service is excellent. Drinks in the minibar are complimentary, and you can check out at 12 PM or even a bit later. The price is a little on the higher side.

Minor drawbacks: The bathroom sink area is a bit small, and the breakfast selection isn't very extensive.
