Five out of five stars, highly recommended! The hotel is very close to Shanghai Railway Station, just a 10-minute walk away. The Suzhou Creek is right behind the hotel, which is also a great area for a stroll.

A special shout-out to Joyce and Orlando! The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The front desk staff were warm, polite, and handled check-in efficiently and smoothly. The facilities were well-maintained and comprehensive, and the cocktails at the lounge were excellent. Our overall experience far exceeded our expectations, and we'll definitely choose to stay here again on our next trip!

I booked two rooms for one night using a voucher. During our stay, we had executive lounge access, which included breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hour. We were also offered a late 4 PM checkout, subject to availability.

We arrived around 2 PM on the check-in day, but were told our rooms weren't ready. We didn't get to check in until 4 PM. Luckily, we enjoyed a simple afternoon tea at the executive lounge while we waited. The afternoon tea selection was just okay, but they refilled items promptly. Coffee was from a Nespresso machine, and soft drinks were self-serve and unlimited.

Our room was on the 10th floor, near the executive lounge, with a view of the walkway between exhibition areas 5 and 6. The size wasn't too small (though it didn't have the chaise lounge shown in the pictures). The king-size bed was truly huge, and on the softer side. The minibar had a separate charge (with a price list provided), but bottled water, Nespresso capsules, and tea bags were complimentary. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and a large bathtub. The wall between the bathroom and the room was fixed, not a movable partition. There were speakers in the bathroom connected to the TV. The shower stall was a bit small, and water tended to spill out. I also have to complain about the wall-mounted toiletries – I wanted to use some shower gel for a bath but couldn't find any.

The hotel pool is on the 5th floor, and the water quality was pretty clean. It's also open to the public. Next to it, there's a hot tub. There were three lifeguards on duty.

The executive lounge area isn't very large. Breakfast is also served here, but the variety isn't as extensive as the buffet restaurant on the first floor. The upside is that it's much less crowded. Happy hour, however, gets incredibly busy. There wasn't enough seating in the executive area, and the food selection was mediocre. Hot dishes were gone within minutes, so fast I couldn't even take pictures. There were mostly flour-based items. For the cold dishes, I managed to snap a photo at the very beginning, but the presentation was never like that again. The food items changed, and the soup of the day was served at our table. Cocktails (including non-alcoholic options) were available during happy hour. The staff were all very friendly and attentive.

Side note (no comparison, no harm done): The other room in our booking was upgraded to a premium room, which was noticeably more comfortable. It had three large closets, an ironing board, a chaise lounge, and a movable partition between the bathroom and the room. The shower area was also significantly larger. Unfortunately, bookings made through third-party platforms do not qualify for IHG points.

During the Dragon Boat Festival, I brought my family for a trip nearby. The Shimao Wonderland InterContinental, though I'd heard mixed reviews online, I decided to experience it for myself. After confirming our check-in time and our preference for a quiet room, Hanna from the front desk proactively added me on WeChat. She reminded me that because it was a holiday and there was an amusement park nearby, parking might be tight, advising me to inform her 30 minutes in advance so she could make arrangements.  We checked in on Dragon Boat Festival noon, and I was surprised to see the lobby's seating area packed with people and a long queue at the front desk. However, thanks to Hanna's foresight, our room was already reserved, making the check-in process quick and efficient.  Our room was arranged away from the elevator, and the soundproofing was remarkably good. We couldn't hear any plumbing from the adjacent rooms or the floors above/below, whether it was the shower or the toilet. This undisturbed experience is a rare find, whether in hotels built years ago or newly constructed ones, a truly effective soundproofing is hard to come by. There was a minor issue with the sink drainage during our stay, which was promptly resolved, showing their attentive service. However, I have to complain about the sink's design; it was a square basin, which easily splashed water, and water tended to accumulate near the faucet – not very practical.  Our stay included a complimentary travel photoshoot with three free photos. The photographer was excellent at creating a lively atmosphere, and our family portrait turned out vibrant and natural, boosting our mood significantly! Online reviews for the Western restaurant were mediocre, but the Chinese restaurant, Cai Feng Lou, received many positive comments. I spontaneously decided to try it, worried about not getting a table, but Hanna immediately helped us book a table for that evening. The standout dish in the set meal was the diced wagyu beef – a true test of a chef's skill. Each piece was large, yet perfectly tender, flavorful, and didn't get stuck in your teeth. This mastery certainly justifies the numerous trophies and prestigious brand accolades at the entrance!  At the restaurant entrance, there was also an introduction to the Shimao Quarry Hotel's background and construction history. Indeed, many aspects of its design were quite visionary, considering it took 12 years to build! The cliffside light show at 8:30 PM featured stunning opening audio effects, and the fountain design added a lot to the visual impact of the mythological story. The Chenshan Botanical Garden, included in our hotel package, was even more amazing. I felt like I could spend two days there, enjoying nature, the charm of the vast lawn, the beauty of the dawn redwood forest, and the tranquility of the camphor forest. Overall, it was a good experience, but the price was just too unfriendly. Even without it being a major holiday, it was so expensive. Given the current economic climate, a more affordable price would be needed to maintain sustained market demand.

Great hotel with amazing friendly staff, this was my fifth hotel I booked in Shanghai during our long 3 weeks stay and it was the best location.  The management did everything possible to make our stay more comfortable and accommodate all of our needs.

The hotel's location is excellent, just a few steps from the riverside promenade, perfect for cycling, jogging, or a leisurely stroll. Although the room facilities aren't the newest, they are well-maintained and convenient to use. I especially loved the double vanity in the bathroom. The room also offered a nice river view. The hotel's fitness center and pool were quite busy, and the 1188 restaurant on the ground floor was even more crowded for the evening buffet, which offered a decent variety of food and drinks. Outside the 1188 restaurant, there's an old villa district that used to be the Shanghai Alcohol Factory dormitory. It's now preserved and converted into an English-style pub, though I'm not sure if it's currently in operation.

Now for some areas that could be improved: The young lady with glasses at the front desk during check-in spoke in a very soft voice throughout, almost mumbling, and showed no enthusiasm. This was a stark contrast to my previous experiences with InterContinental hotels. I wonder if they treat business and non-business guests differently.

Location: Superb, right in the heart of Shanghai's central business district. The architecture and gardens have an antique charm and are quite upscale. Service: Excellent service, InterContinental standard. Hygiene: No issues with cleanliness, everything was spotless. Facilities: The room facilities were probably very luxurious back in the day, but it's clearly aged. For younger guests, it might feel a bit old-fashioned, perhaps more suited for those with a 'old money' taste.

I booked this themed room to visit the planetarium, and it conveniently included three tickets for the next day. However, checking the mini-program beforehand, it seemed the complimentary tickets couldn't be used to purchase movie tickets directly; I still needed the hotel's assistance. During holidays, it's definitely best to go early, as it gets extremely crowded in the afternoon.

The hotel isn't actually on the island, and my room was on a lower floor, so the constant bus noise was quite disruptive. There were no disposable slippers or bathrobes provided. The room and hallway had a strong, lingering smell of new renovations, and the amenities were pretty basic.

Excellent location 10 minutes from the Dubai Mall and most places of interest.
Super clean variety of foods, excellent service from the staff who attended us.

This is our second stay at the InterContinental Shenzhen OCT, and once again, it brought so much joy and pleasant surprises to our entire family!

The hotel's Utopia Wonderland is simply a paradise for children. The diverse handicraft and cooking classes provided an excellent experience for the kids, and the fantastic outdoor water park kept them so entertained they didn't want to leave. They simply couldn't tear themselves away.

I especially want to thank our dedicated service butler, Jason, the Guest Relations Officer. He proactively contacted us before our check-in, carefully understanding our needs in advance. His attentive care throughout our stay made us feel incredibly well looked after and warm. Having such professional and personable butler service truly enhanced our trip.

Whether it's the facilities, children's entertainment, or the hospitality, this is an excellent choice for a family vacation. We will definitely be back again!

I usually love staying at InterContinental hotels, but this trip was truly the best in terms of both my personal experience and the environment! I was fortunate to participate in a training session thanks to Teacher Daqi's team, and that's how I ended up staying at this hotel. The hotel Teacher Daqi chose has been my favorite among all my travels so far. It was supposed to rain those days, but miraculously, the rain stopped, and the weather was beautiful. In the afternoon, I enjoyed the sea breeze on the beach and spent a long time just relaxing. It was breathtakingly beautiful and I'm so grateful. The hotel also offers yacht experiences and other recreational activities, and the food is delicious – I highly recommend it! I rarely write reviews voluntarily, but I'm truly grateful. If I have another chance to visit Shenzhen, I'll definitely stay here again! In fact, I'm very thankful for this hotel. It's clean and comfortable, and I'm very grateful to Teacher Daqi and everyone at the hotel. Thank you 🙏

This InterContinental is my top choice when visiting Shenzhen. Its location is absolutely superb, just a short walk to the exhibition center, making getting around incredibly convenient. The lobby is grand and elegant. Alfreda from Guest Relations was polite and thoughtful throughout, and Diana handled check-in efficiently. The room was spacious, with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offering expansive views. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the bathroom was stocked with Byredo toiletries – attention to detail was exceptional. Breakfast offered a wide variety, and the made-to-order noodles were delicious. The indoor heated pool and 24-hour gym are excellent facilities. Overall, it exudes understated luxury with professional and attentive service. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time!
