11390131****I'd heard so much about this place, but staying here truly exceeded all expectations! This 'fairytale' hotel on the China-Vietnam border boasts a prime, central spot overlooking the stunning Mingshi River pastoral landscape. The environment is absolutely perfect, with beauty at every turn – it's like stepping into a living landscape painting of the Karst topography. You have to experience it to believe how breathtaking it is.
The atmosphere is incredible, enhanced by the warm hospitality: singing folk songs from enthusiastic Zhuang aunties, hot oil tea, embroidered ball welcoming ceremonies, and evening folk song rituals. Our butler, Nami, provided exceptional service throughout our stay – thoughtful, attentive, and incredibly responsive to all our requests. A huge thumbs up to her! Every staff member we encountered greeted us warmly. Room service was excellent; they even cleaned the hot tub with disinfectant before filling it, which made us feel very secure and relaxed.
The food was a delightful surprise: Liuzhou river snails rice noodles for breakfast, Zhuang-style pizza for dinner, and sweet soups for a late-night snack. The fusion menu at the 'Yun Zui' wine cellar was also beyond expectations, and the wine list had some fantastic surprises. The room offered complete privacy, and waking up to the panoramic mountain and river views right outside was simply magical. It's a photographer's dream – every shot turns out perfectly. This was truly an experience that surpassed all our expectations!

GGuest UserFrom the moment I stepped into this guesthouse, I was captivated by the lobby's decor: minimalist and elegant, rustic yet stylish! A quick chat with the charming owner immediately conveyed her warmth and trustworthiness. The room, equipped with two single beds and one large double bed, is perfectly set up for family travel – they truly understand what families need! Breakfast was nutritious, healthy, and deliciously varied. The 'auntie' serving it was incredibly warm, making us feel right at home, like part of the family! There's also a self-service laundry room. All in all, this is a guesthouse that is absolutely worth looking forward to and can be completely relied upon. 👍👍👍

CChe WilThe hotel facilities are excellent, and the heating works very well, keeping the room warm and cozy. The balcony offers a great view of the mountains. The staff are very professional and helpful, assisting with luggage. Breakfast is served individually, and it was different each morning during our two-night stay.

The hotel owner, Shaowei was there to help us in every possible way. She brought us to see the panoramic view of Mingshi Tianyuan with her own expenses. She also took us to another place to watch native people’s dance, sing and bonfire after dinner. She also helped me to catch a local bus to another town. Her kindness was simply beyond my expectations. If I come back to Mingshi, the reason will be not the town itself, but Shaowei.
2. Flawless cleanness
Everything looked to be built just now. Clean, comfortable and tidy. No smell of cigarette or whatsoever.
3. Decent breakfast
Breakfast is simple but the taste is good. You can enjoy rice noodle, rice porridge and fruits with good tea and soy milk.
4. Great location
The hotel is located close to the bus station and you can get on any local bus passing by easily. Good restaurants are everywhere nearby as well.

TTravelwULove at first sight. The view from our rooms was beautiful. The rooms were tastefully furnished. The beds were very comfortable. Clean sheets and towels. Modern amenities. The automatic toilet bowl was amazing. I wished I had one at home in Malaysia. We enjoyed the breakfasts. I am good with the healthy options and free flow of soy milk. I suggest using the ceramic bowl for the hot soy milk instead of the plastic bowls provided. Do bring your own hot water flask. Hot water dispenser available.We had all our meals in the hotel. The food was delicious. Do try the free range chicken with mushroom soup. Very comforting. Our morning walk in the village was lovely. Plenty of vegetable farms. Mr. Wei, the manager was very attentive and friendly. He offered to ferry us to Detian waterfalls for a fee as there were no taxi or e-hailing. Overall, we had a pleasant and wonderful two day stay. Highly recommended.
PS. Do close the two small windows behind the curtains for better noise insulation.

EEatPrayTravelLocation of hotel is very convenient for travelers who take the tourist bus from either Chungzuo, Nanning or from Detian waterfalls scenic area. The room we booked had a nice view of the fields and karst mountains. What a beautiful sight to behold indeed. During the day, it can get noisy with all the comings and goings in the village and all around but at night, it was very quiet. The rooftop terrace was very nice and not busy when we were there. Breakfast was enjoyable with steamed buns, corn, soup noodles and boiled sweet potatoes- a healthy start for a very busy day. The very nice lady in charge of breakfast offered us breakfast on our check in day (we arrived at 10:30) and made sure we had enough to eat before sending us off to explore! We had never met a B&B operator who was so caring and generous. On our check out day, even though she was still busy with guests, she rushed out to bid us a fond farewell and a safe onward trip. Front desk and cleaning team were all very friendly, always smiling and helpful. All in all, a very warm and pleasant stay at Mingshi Scenic Area.

GGuest UserThe hotel is perfectly situated within the Mingshi Garden Scenic Area. Apparently, there are only three accommodations here: this lodge, and the Mingshi Villa (which boasts its own pool and is just across a small road from the lodge). The surrounding environment is excellent, offering a private feel amidst rolling mountains. Compared to nearby guesthouses, this is a more dependable option if you're seeking a reliable stay. Yulinba Weir is just a 3-minute walk away, and bicycles are available for rent to explore. Before check-in, a dedicated staff member thoughtfully provides a map, hotel information, shuttle service details, and even information about the evening bonfire parties. You can also enjoy a scenic breakfast with beautiful views. On days with good visibility, electric carts are available for rent at the entrance (around 30 per hour); I recommend renting one to tour the entire Mingshi area.
However, the drawbacks are quite apparent. The hotel rooms are rather dated, though styled in the local Zhuang ethnic tradition. The toiletries provided are very basic, so bringing your own is advisable. The books piled on the table had a stale smell, and the room itself carried a similar mustiness. I had to use mosquito repellent; being a two-story building in a relatively humid area, mosquitoes were quite prevalent. Furthermore, the food was quite average. For instance, grilled sausages for breakfast seemed to disappear quickly if you didn't arrive early, sometimes leaving only a couple of slices of bread. If the internal quality and offerings could be improved, I would gladly pay more to stay here.

GGuest UserThe area is beautiful. The tent and tent area are very nice. My kids loved it! The receptionist Li Lin 李霖 and the rest of the team are very nice and helpful. Beds are comfortable. The pillow was too high for me, but my husband didn’t complain. If you are light and sound sensitive when sleeping, then bring earplugs and sleeping eye mask, because is a tent, of course. The tent I booked was very comfortable in size for two adults and two kids. It had two queen beds and one single bed. There is tv and amenities (shampoo&Co, toothbrush, shaving kit, hair dryer). Breakfast was Chinese style buffet, which we are happy with. The restaurant belongs to another hotel in the same area (there are several hotels in that park). You can order bbq set. Nice quality meat and veggies. I would recommend this camping area for any family with kids. There is a playground area as well and is nice to walk through the trees.

AAnonymous UserReally lovely guesthouse in the Mingshi scenic area with very warm and welcoming owners. The area is quite peaceful and rural. They make delicious home-style cooking using rice and vegetables grown in their own fields, which you can see at the back of the building.
We stayed here during our visit to Detian Waterfall, and also explored the Mingshi landscapes. The bus to Detian Waterfall passes through the village every morning at 8:30, so you can save some money on transportation to get there.
Our hosts got us free entry to the Mingshi Tian Yuan park in the evening to watch the Zhuang ethnic minority performances. Usually it costs ¥80 entry. They lent us bicycles and it was an easy 5-10 min cycle there.
Overall, highly recommend this place to other travellers!

GGuest UserThe hotel is a little far from Chongzuo but you can hire a Didi for about 380RMB from the chongzuo train station. The hotel is located in a beautiful park where you can take a walk and see the 100 doors (I think it was called) and walk all the way to the border post 3. It's was surreal. Across the river you can see Vietnamese house and people. we waved. a drone showed up we left. To go to the waterfall we walked from the hotel to the tourist center. About a 45 minute walk. Not bad once you get there.
The hotel is old and starting to show the tear. You can tell it was once great but no renovations have been made in forever. The carpet had stains on it. not tiny ones. The little mini balcony was dusty. The bed was big but on the hard side. The towels are frazzling it was unbelievable. The breakfast , if you are not full on on Chinese breakfast its a no no. AND no coffee EVEN though the COFFEE MACHINE looked like it had just been plugged off. sign sating being fixed. come on .It's a 4 diamond rating but it felt more like 2. It's also smaller than it links in the video and pics. There's an awesome restaurant at the entrance on the right. It made a whole lotta difference. Highly reccomend eating here. And we did!Twice. Food was not bad. definitely order the ribs. The staff is nice especially the restaurant lady.
