My first time in Shizuoka Prefecture, and I spent the first night at the Nihondaira Hotel.
Walking into the lobby, there's a huge glass curtain wall directly ahead. If the weather is clear and visibility is good, you can see Mount Fuji in the distance. Even every room faces Mount Fuji. At the foot of the mountain are Shimizu City, home of Chibi Maruko-chan, and Miho no Matsubara.
When I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, it was overcast, and Shimizu City wasn't visible due to heavy fog and humidity. I was really hoping for clear skies the next morning. And my wish truly came true! At 5 AM, a thought flashed through my mind, I woke up, pulled open the curtains, and although the sun hadn't risen yet, a blush appeared in the southeast. Looking straight ahead, in the distant sky, a massive silhouette appeared – that was Mount Fuji.
Alright, I'm content. Hahahaha~
Staying at this hotel, you can completely, completely relax. You can lie in your room and zone out, or stroll on the huge lawn in front of the hotel, watching the shimmering lights of Shimizu City at night.
The booking price included dinner and breakfast. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Dinner was a French set menu (Menu in pic 7). For an additional 1600 yen, I upgraded to Japanese-produced Wagyu beef, which I highly recommend. It was grilled perfectly, locking in the pinkness, and the texture was tender and fresh both inside and out. For breakfast, I recommend choosing the Japanese set meal, as online reviews say the Western breakfast is terrible.

This hotel, being a new build next to the long-established Nakashimaya Grand Hotel, is naturally very new and clean. It's also functional and easy to use, providing a pleasant contrast to the more traditional and understated Nakashimaya. The front desk staff are efficient and professional, yet also warm and welcoming, which is a nice touch. The front desk is on the top floor and the exit is on the ground floor, offering convenient and unrestricted access. For breakfast, guests share the underground restaurant with Nakashimaya, and the menu is extensive, featuring local静岡 specialties like black hanpen and wasabi pickles.

I regretted booking only 3 days 2 nights. It was so comfortable staying at Nihon iro. Staff was nice, amenities were complete. They even provided some discounts vouchers for nearby eateries. We can even enter the spa for free. Too bad we had such a short stay, we managed to spend time at the beach enjoying some craft beef with some cherry beans fries. Life was great for 3 days. Thanks for sending us to mochimune station using tuktuk. Definitely will visit again and again and again!

A traditional Japanese inn that welcomes solo travelers. The breakfast and dinner are very rich. I didn't feel uncomfortable eating them. The portions are large. It's close to Miho-no-Matsubara and only a five-minute walk to the beach. The coastline here is very stunning and you can see Mount Fuji. Although the clerk is also a foreigner, the service is excellent. The hotel has a historical background and is not as old as imagined. The amenities are of high quality. It's a pity that I don't know how to get into the garden. It seems that people outside are not allowed to enter, and there are no outdoor shoes left in the house. Then if you have two meals, there is basically no time to play around. You should come earlier. It is recommended to take a boat from the Shimizu Fish Market. The scenery along the way is good. The weather has been bad recently, and the snow on the top of Mount Fuji has melted, so the scenery is not so transparent. The disadvantage is that after all, it's time here. Some places are aging and there is dust in the corners. There is no 24-hour front desk. The minibar is charged and there is no free water. I will come again next time when I come to Shizuoka. The price is right.

Guest UserI stayed at the hotel with my wife as a stop between Nagoya and Atami. We chose the hotel due to its very close proximity to the train station. We found the hotel room very clean and recently renovated. The utilities, including lighting and water supply, were good. The breakfast was acceptable though we needed to queue for a while. The services offered were indeed good since we managed to retrieve some left fruits in the refrigerator through the help of hotel staff after we have checked out.

陳查禮Excellent location within walking distance to major tourist locations and shopping and dining districts as well as public transports. Carpark is available across the road at 1100 Yen for 24 hours. I chose room with breakfast for 2 and it is well value for money. The spa, though small, but is well kept and much undertilized. In fact, I am the only one using the spa. Environment, services and facilities are all up to good standards. Guests can also have free access to the coffee and soft drinks machine around the clock.

The Quest Shimizu Hotel is conveniently located near Shimizu Station and popular attractions, offering excellent transportation. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a simple and warm design, perfect for both long and short stays. The staff are friendly and responsive. With numerous dining options nearby, it's an ideal base for exploring the Shimizu and Dazaifu areas.

Guest UserThe location is extremely convenient, with all essential amenities nearby. It's super close to the station. For any anime/manga fan, this place is a total delight, especially being just a six-minute walk from Surugaya! Absolutely loved it! I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Shizuoka.

It seemed to be the day of a fireworks display and was very popular that day.
Check-in was done in one part of the coffee shop.
We apologize when it is crowded as the general public also enjoys tea.
The rooms have air conditioning, but the beds do not, so it feels very hot and difficult to stay there.
There are no towels or toothbrushes.
You need to bring your own.
Earplugs were available at the washbasin.
There is only one shower and one toilet, so you have to be patient when others are using them.
I woke up in the middle of the night when someone came home and took a shower because of the noise.
You have to cross a big road from the station, so it is better to go out with plenty of time to spare.

ShimadaInuFree unlimited alcohol at bar after 6 pm is totally beyond expectation.
Room is quite big, with large size bathtub and separated toilet. Very quiet from my experience.
The room I stayed does not have a window, not sure if it’s the common case. But I’m ok with that.
The location should be considered as the major concern. It’s right beside the interchange of highway, so can be ideal for self-driving trips. However, for travelers by public transportation, you’ll have to use the local bus service, it can take quite a while to figure out how.(For anyone who may read this comment: if you depart from Shizuoka JR station, look for bus No.71 or No.27, and get off at Shizuoka IC stop , which is the closest stop from hotel)
Generally I do enjoy the stay, and the nearby region has a lot of restaurants as well as convenient stores, will consider to come back if drive by next time.
