Outstanding
JJD75Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property.

AAnonymous UserNo need to wake up early for a safari when staying at this hotel! You can see many black-faced monkeys, four or five crocodiles in the lake, peacocks, lizards, various water birds, and small squirrels. The ecosystem here is fantastic, and surprisingly, there were no mosquitoes at all – maybe it was the season. The weather was great during our stay, and dinner was good too. It's definitely a great value for money option in this area. We also met a staff member who enthusiastically led us to the hotel's private beach and took photos for our whole family. He refused a tip, saying he was just happy we came, such a kind person! The animals here are also very friendly; the monkeys don't attack people and just eat leaves. What a magical experience watching the hotel's dogs immediately charge and bark when they saw crocodiles trying to come ashore!

GGuest UserThe feeling of vacation is full when you enter the hotel. The room is OK but there are a lot of bugs. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel, Italian, Asian and buffet. There are some tourist restaurants around the hotel, which are not recommended. It takes about half an hour to drive to any restaurant that is worth your attention. When you check out, you should take a good look at the bill. There are several extra items such as turtle protection fees for no reason.

GGuest UserWe were staying in My Village as we wanted to experience safari (by third party) at Yala National Park. The area is a little more secluded but split into two sides where we put up at the rooms next to the pool. As it was raining every day whilst we stayed there, we didn't get a chance to swim but it looked great for cooling down. Our room was clean and great value. However what surprised us was the quality of food for dinner as it was prepared fresh upon order. Also enjoyed the packed breakfast they prepared for our safari. Only comment would be the number of insects and mosquitoes, but mosquito coils can be requested. Over all, a pleasant stay with efficient service and AC.

GGuest UserThe room was large, but there were very few electrical outlets; all the outlets were plugged into light sockets, so you had to unplug them to charge your power bank or phone. The room was dimly lit, which might be the design, but we were worried about missing anything while packing our things.
The food options were limited, but you could try their buffet, which wasn't expensive.
The service was poor, and the staff's English wasn't very good. My friend got bitten on the finger by an insect in the bathroom, causing it to swell and turn red. When we went to the front desk for help, they were indifferent and said they didn't know if the bite had occurred on the hotel grounds. They didn't treat the wound immediately and even sent someone to the room to check what kind of insect it was. We just wanted some alcohol to treat the bite. What was supposed to be a pleasant trip turned sour.
It's quite close to the zoo, about 15 minutes away, but we'll probably not stay here next time; staying by the lake would be more convenient.

GGuest UserWe booked this at the last minute due to a change of plans and so just went by the previous reviews but we are so glad we did! It’s a small hotel but with lovely large rooms with private pools. We loved the sunset walk to the beautiful wild beach and our trip to Yala. We didn’t have any problems with wildlife in the shower and loved the feeling of being in such a natural environment. The real selling point of the hotel however is their staff and every one of them went out of their way to help us have a great stay.

CChris&MariaThis hotel is located in a remote area, which turned out to be a huge advantage. The peaceful surroundings allowed us to completely unwind without any distractions — it truly felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.
Right from the start, we were treated to a lovely surprise: a room upgrade with a stunning ocean view. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was pure magic.
The food was a highlight — beautifully flavored local dishes with a creative twist. Knowing that everything was sourced sustainably from local farmers made the experience even more meaningful.
What really stood out was the hospitality. During my stay, I sprained my ankle, and the staff went above and beyond to take care of me. A special thank you to Lakshitha, who was incredibly kind and attentive throughout my recovery.
This is a place where nature, comfort, and genuine care come together. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to disconnect, recharge, and experience authentic Sri Lankan warmth.

EElliaYuThe Hilton Yala Resort is located on the southern edge of Yala National Park in Sri Lanka, at the entrance to a protected area... It's said that the park experience is a substitute for an African safari, and this protected area is home to wild animals such as leopards, elephants, deer, and peacocks, especially the leopard colony (just kidding, you practically never see one [sweat]). This resort has only 42 rooms, blending seamlessly into nature. Each room has a private balcony and a Jacuzzi or private pool. A spa is standard at resorts, and there are suites and more private villas, but the prices are just as hefty [laughs]...

GGuest UserSet a quadruple room, in fact, can live 6 or 7 people no problem 😄 The hotel is located on the edge of the lake. Since we are going to Yarra National Park to see wildlife the next morning, the store packed breakfast for us very early.

JJoe0412A wonderful family run establishment. I was very ill during my stay and the owner took me to his doctor friend and pharmacy and took care of me.
The room is comfortable and it has a nice sitting balcony. Its very very quiet and easy to sleep. Its 10 mins by tuk tuk to tissa lake and the safari is not far. They offer safari services although I didn't use. Wifi available. Lots of plugs in the room.
Breakfast is flexible and accommodating.
The family is so kind and warm. Highly recommend staying here.
