"Myself and 2 young children stayed for one night whilst visiting friends nearby.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Reception team especially kind to my boys, and giving them activity packs was a nice touch.
We visited the pool, which was clean. Whilst not big, it was empty so didn’t have to worry about my boys bothering anyone. Clean changing rooms.
We ordered dinner up to the room and must say the children’s menu cost was really reasonable for really well portioned food.
Rooms were lovely and clean. Great that the chrome cast actually worked in the room unlike some other hotels.
Breakfast had a great spread for all tastes.
Only downside is having to pay for parking.
On the whole, great hotel and staff and would stay again."

"I recently stayed at this budget-friendly hotel in Oxford and had a pleasant experience overall. The room was very clean, including the ensuite bathroom, which was well maintained. The staff were polite and friendly, which made the stay more comfortable.
The hotel is located about a 45-minute walk from the main city centre, but the route is straight and not hilly, so it’s manageable. The location itself was fine, with good bus connectivity making it easy to get around. There are several supermarkets nearby, including Tesco and Sainsbury’s superstores, as well as a few cafes and restaurants in the area.
The hotel does not have its own restaurant or food service, but there is a vending machine offering coffee and some light snacks. Overall, it’s a good option for a clean, affordable stay in Oxford, especially if you don’t mind being a bit outside the city centre."

"As a British hotel, first of all, don't have too high expectations, basically the level of Hanting in China. The hotel's self-service level is relatively high, and it is not allowed to stay at 3 pm. The basic configuration of the room is still there, and some rooms have an unpleasant smell. The location of the hotel is good, next to the big shopping center, not far from the core area of Oxford University."

"My partner and I had a lovely stay at The George. Lovely dinner - good range on the menu including lots of alcohol free drink options. The bed was really comfortable and it was a lovely cozy room with great amenities.
Lovely location - Dorchester is beautiful! We loved the community farm just up the road with a lovely cafe and alpacas among others. Lovely countryside surrounding Dorchester and lovely cycle route to Oxford on the NCR5.
Thanks George Hotel for a lovely stay!"

"Enjoyable stay at this good hotel, which had a clean room and very friendly staff. Good location away from the rush and noise - about a 20 minute walk from the city centre, or a 5 minute bus ride. Hotel parking for £10/day is good value compared to local car parks and meters."

"Amazing hotel in Oxford. It’s in the residential area. Although there is a pub on the opposite street but my room isn’t facing that way so very quiet and nice. There is an air conditioner inside the room. The area it located has lots of shops and restaurants and Sainsbury’s and big Tesco Express. It would be 25mins walk from the hotel back to town but it’s a manageable and acceptable distance. Staff are nice and the hotel is very new and clean."

"Plenty of parking available, but if there's a home game for Oxford United in the evening, parking can be a hassle since the stadium is right next door. Breakfast includes homemade waffles and all the usual options, primarily a full English breakfast, and the coffee is excellent. The room feels cramped with a sofa bed. It's about a 15-minute drive to Oxford University or the shopping center, and Bicester Village is around 30 minutes away."

Receptionist and good service, clean accommodation, spacious room, close to tourist attractions, convenient transportation, quiet outside atmosphere, good breakfast. Like staying at home, I like it here. If you like this style, I recommend it."

Great
GGuest UserMy first night was marred by the fact that the people next door had very loud voices, this was there normal speaking voice but sadly the walls are very thin, too thin to be acceptable. I had to wear eye plugs and only fell asleep because I was exhausted. Also outside my room is numerous units which made a noise. The sound of someone using the shower was annoying too.
Though things looked okay in room and the bed was comfortable these other things spoiled my much needed break. The first thing I told the receptionist on arrival was I do not require anyone to tidy my room.
When I got back from my meeting on the next day my room had been cleaned, bed made etc. The feedback card that I had not finished filling in was removed from my room. Most annoying.
So being close to Oxford station and having a Sainsbury’s next door were the best things about this hotel.
LLilit AdamianIt is truly a fairy-tale hotel — the rooms feel as if they come straight out of a classic English story. Everything is neat, clean, and thoughtfully designed, making the stay very comfortable.
The location is excellent, perfect for exploring Oxford on foot. The lobby area is especially beautiful — elegant, cozy, and welcoming, setting the tone from the moment you arrive.
Overall, the experience was extremely pleasant. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience the true charm and atmosphere of Oxford.
GGuest UserClean and tidy! The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful! The breakfast selection was rich and varied! Convenient transportation! Quiet despite being in a bustling area!
SShawn_S.The hotel is very clean and well maintained, and the room was comfortable and tidy.
The location is very convenient, close to Oxford city centre, making it easy to explore the city on foot or by public transport.
The hotel has a slightly vintage / traditional style, which gives it some character, though it may feel a bit old-fashioned for guests who prefer a more modern design.
One thing to note is that there is no free parking available, and the hotel does not offer on-site parking spaces. If you’re travelling by car, you’ll need to arrange nearby paid parking in advance.
Overall, a clean and well-located hotel with a classic feel, but not ideal if you’re driving.
GGuest UserThe talkhouse was a really homely accommodation right outside of Oxford. The room was exactly like the pictures. The staff were incredibly helpful and I must say the showers is probably one of the best I’ve had in the uk. (Proper water pressure, temperature and drainage so I’m not swimming in my own filth). Also have a drink or dinner at the pub, it’s seems to be a popular favourite amongst the locals as well. One thing to note for light sleepers, the rooms are side by side so you might hear your neighbours & it is right by the road so you’ll be able to hear vehicles at busier times.
GGuest UserThe location is excellent, close to the colleges, high streets, and main attractions, very convenient. The old house facilities of the school are average, there is no elevator, this room is in Basement, there is a patio, lighting and ventilation. Breakfast is in the student canteen, there are few types, you can experience the atmosphere of Dining hall. on campus, quiet in the noisy, and enjoy sitting on the lawn in the morning and evening for a while.
GGuest UserIt’s not really a hotel, but more like a B&B with some hotel like features. Moving up the luggage to the room on the top floor was rather inconvenient although the receptionist,Alex, was very helpful. Breakfast was ok, but since there isn’t a restaurant in the accommodation, you’ll have to drive out to find food beyond breakfast. Besides the receptionist Alex, I didn’t quite get a warm feeling when we encountered the hosts, which is unusual given our experience in other cities in the UK so far. Other than that it was a pleasant stay.
GGuest UserI can't even imagine it. Attic, I, a big man of 158cm, bumped my head 6 times in one night. Who would dare to imagine? It was so violent that I almost broke my cervical vertebrae. According to our country, it must be a single bed, but it is a double bed. It is extremely hot. There is a small electric fan with a tilted head, which sounds like a tractor. It was a lively night. There is no independent bathroom and the two rooms are shared. One, it’s convenient to take a bath, but I don’t have enough experience. I’m sorry.
GGuest UserThe bus takes 25 minutes to the center of Oxford. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Oxford, near the ordinary residential area. It is very safe and convenient. There is Subway across the road and three bus stops within 200 meters.
The hotel is very old, and a small piece of the wall paint in the toilet of the room I stayed in fell off. However, the sanitation is good, no insects or obviously unclean places were found, the spider webs were also cleaned, and the bathtub and shower were working properly.
It is very suitable for one or two people to travel. In the peak tourist season, the hotel of 900 RMB is one of the few affordable options for overnight stay in Oxford.
KKar Yee AvaLove the supermarket right next to the hotel and there is public bus outside the hotel to go to city center. Typical English breakfast and the food choice is the same every day.
There is a retail park opposite the hotel but only have 4-5 shops like Decathlon, Sport Direct & B&Q etc.
