"I stayed in nine hotels on this trip to Italy, and this one was the most ”uncomfortable.” [Key Tips to Avoid Pitfalls] Be very careful with this [Superior Sea View Room]. It's anything but ”superior”—it's the cheapest room in the hotel (within the ocean view), the lowest-end of the ocean view rooms (there are no standard sea view rooms). It's the farthest from the sea, which is a minor issue. The key issue is that there are two vertical elevators next door, ”dimpled” from the room (essentially, two elevators directly at the head of the bed). Result A: The room is incredibly small and oddly shaped. Result B: The elevators are noisy. Don't expect to be able to change rooms. This is a terrible room type, with only one per floor. It's the same no matter which room you move to. Don't count on the hotel offering an upgrade out of kindness. I contacted the hotel using Ctrip's Black Diamond channel before check-in and was told the elevator was right next door, with no other rooms available (though there were other rooms available when I checked in). About the hotel as a whole: Pros: It's newly renovated, making it one of the more pleasant-looking older hotels. The downside is the strong odor, which is most noticeable on the highest floors (September 2026). Walking around the two lower floors, the odor seems less noticeable. The room types are generally acceptable (excluding the superior sea view rooms, a warning). The view is also okay. Cons: 1. The front desk staff's attitude towards Asian customers is average; not indifferent, but not exactly welcoming either. 2. Regarding the air conditioning: During check-in, the front desk staff gave a lot of rambling instructions, essentially saying that it only works if the balcony door is closed and locked. However, no matter how I tried to close or lock the balcony door, the air conditioning kept displaying ”LOC.” Since the weather wasn't too hot, I slept with the balcony door open for the entire night and didn't have the energy to argue with the unhelpful front desk staff. 3. This awful [Superior Sea View Room] is absolutely disgusting. 4. The room key is just a key with a heavy, old sign. 5. In the wilderness, late at night, early in the morning, with dogs barking in the distance for an hour, pure rural charm. Let's talk about the hotel restaurant. 1. Since it's not in the downtown area, if you don't have a car, you'll most likely have to eat dinner in the hotel's only restaurant. 2. Restaurant costs are pretty much the same for four-star hotels in Italy. 80 euros for two people roughly corresponds to three main courses, one dessert, and a bottle of water. This hotel restaurant falls within this price range. 3. The biggest [feature] is the portion size; it's incredibly [exquisite]. 4. For example, the shrimp main course for 28 euros (approximately) is just three shrimp slices with a little mashed potatoes; that's the ”main course” (see picture). 5. For two people with small appetites, 80 euros is enough. For larger appetites, it'll start at at least 100 euros, not counting drinks. 6. The meals are expensive, and the main courses are small. Another reason is that in Italy, main courses are divided into first and second entrees, making it difficult to get a full meal from one entree like in the US. If one person orders both entrees, the starting price is 35-45 euros. 7. The restaurant has a head waiter who looks like a gentleman waiter straight out of a TV or movie. His facial expressions, language, and body language are all very performative and ritualistic (like a magician on stage). He is very dedicated and has a strong presence, which is probably a ”super deal” for a restaurant of this price (someone mentioned him on Dianping). He is the only one in the restaurant with the authority to show customers to their seats, communicate, and take orders (this is the case in most restaurants), while everyone else focuses on basic service. Because of his professionalism and performative nature, he seems more welcoming and polite to Asians than in other restaurants, and he seems to treat everyone equally (on the surface, but only on the surface). (Of course, the other waiters are much more indifferent)."

"I picked this hotel based on recommendations from online reviews, but it turns out that the hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Sorrento Train Station, so it’s not very convenient to drag a big suitcase with you! Although it is not far from the main street and is quite lively, its location is already at the end of the street. If you walk back to the hotel from the train station, it is actually quite far away. On the contrary, it is relatively close to the beach, so it is good to watch the sunset. The hotel actually does not have a swimming pool. The swimming pool training school next to it has a swimming pool, so guests cannot enjoy the swimming pool unless they pay. But overall, the hotel is very clean, the rooms are large, and the bathrooms are large. It's just a bit old and the refrigerator is broken! Breakfast options are limited, don't have expectations. However, the hotel receptionist was also very kind and recommended a day trip to us. When we learned that the bus to Positana had been stopped! And we Chinese are not used to eating foreign food, so we wanted to get some hot water for us to make noodles, and they were very satisfied! This is a rare 10 points, and its room rate is really not expensive, which is why I still recommend this hotel!"

"The whole stay at Johanna’s park Hotel was very satisfying. Staff was welcoming and helpful, rooms spacious and reliable for what the hotel advertises. An absolute favourite was the breakfast, INSANE! "Hotel itself is pretty standard as what you would expect from any big chain hotels, but service was definitely not up to par. We were told there would be valet service - there was none. The bus boys just told us to park ourselves. FINE. Then after I've checked in I asked if the luggage will be sent up to our room - reception then asked if I got a luggage ticket to which I told him we weren't given anything. The bus boys just stood around the entrance. He said they would be sent up shortly but given how they were just standing around we just took our luggage ourselves - mind you I am 6 months pregnant and obviously so but they did not offer any help. Once we got to our room the air conditioning was not working - we kept dialing it down but there was no air. Amazing to find out the AC wasn't working for the price we paid. The room is stuffy and even the hallway was cooler. Also during our stay there was conference - we were given a room on the same floor as conference participants and as expected they were loud and rowdy at night. We could hear them talking in the hallway at night when we called reception they said there was nothing they can do. So very helpful. Upon check out, the same bus boy stood around while watching a pregnant lady wheel 4 pieces of luggage out. I really just wonder what they do other than standing around all day hanging in the shade. Service is terrible here and I've had better service at small boutique or family run hotels than here. The only upside to this stay was that the rooms are spacious and clean and that's about it."

"The front desk of the hotel was very friendly and called a car for us when we checked out. Although it was really expensive, it really could only be so due to the location. The interior of the hotel room is clean and tidy, and the price is super high I really like the hotel's swimming pool. The whole feeling of being surrounded by mountains and rivers is very beautiful! There was a problem with the hair dryer in the room at the beginning, and finally adjusted the room for us. The service attitude is very friendly!"

"Being a hotel manager myself, the hotel is not up to a 4 star level. Starting from the positives, the hotel is on a great central location, very close to the beach, the marinas, all restaurants-shops & train bus stations. The reception team was lovely & the receptionist who checked us in (Terry) was very nice & provided us with the info needed (breakfast times, wifi code etc). The reception lobby was nice. The room was a double standard but very noisy as it was facing the street, the balcony was a Juliette balcony so you cannot use it to sit etc, the shower was the tiny & old,the minibar did not work at all (was not cooling) & when reported to the reception they did not offer to look at it.no iron or ironing board in the room, when we asked for it, we were told to pick it up from the reception and the iron had limescale on it so it was not usable (could stain our clothes. The cleaninless of the room was fair, however I could see that the floor was not hoovered or mopped during our stay. The breakfast was nice and had some traditional items, the service was good but many items were finished by 9:30 and were not replenished as the breakfast was ending at 10am. This is not right, the breakfast buffet must have enough offering until closing time. Also it is served indoors so for those who want a breakfast view, it’s not ideal. The pool was small but clean. The hotel amenities, service, offering & status of rooms reflect to a 3 star hotel and the price per night (€200 approx) is quite high for this type of hotel. "

"I booked a deluxe sea view room with a large balcony. The room was very large, with a large bed and a small bed. The decoration colors of the hotel are very distinctive, with mosaic patterns. I made a mistake at first. The two hotels are very close to each other, so don’t make a mistake. We just ran to the hotel inside, and the front desk was very nice and showed us the way to the hotel. The dinner was pretty good, almost the same as in Europe. The view was great and it was right on the seaside. The hotel also had its own restaurant, which was right on the seaside. It was very comfortable."

"The campsite is located about a couple of kilometers from Sorrento and to reach the center there is a very convenient shuttle service at a cost of €2 per trip. The panoramic view is very beautiful, inside the campsite there is a bar restaurant pizzeria, a market and a swimming pool, it is possible to reach the small beach within a 10 minute walk. Inside the campsite you do not pay in cash, but with a card. I went to the restaurant ordering take-away pizza and I must say that it was excellent as were the croissants I had for breakfast at the bar."

Outstanding
CcharlottieotsieTook my dad on a trip to Italy for his birthday and the first night of our stay couldn't have gone better here. Margrita was so welcoming and friendly, offering us a glass of juice or water upon arrival. She then gave us a plethora of different croissants to choose for as part of the breakfast. There was a classic course of buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes, then a flavoured croissant, and a plate of fresh fruit. The other people staying there said it was the best breakfast ever, and to be honest, I agree. The rooms were incredibly tidy and neat, complete with a fridge to store water for enduring the heat (air con worked a treat, and there were also complimentary water bottles on our first night). The views from the little balconys in the common areas were beautiful overlooking the lemon trees. The location was great, about a 15 minute walk to the beach, which was perfect for us as we were out of the hustle and bustle. And about a 10 minute walk from the station when we arrived. All in all 10/10 honestly, and I don't usually leave reviews but felt the need to do this place and margrita justice! 😊

EedwardLYKCharming Stay in the Heart of Sorrento Hotel Maison Il Conservatorio is perfectly located—just a 6-minute walk from the train station and car rental return, making arrival super convenient. Though there’s no on-site parking, they offer a helpful valet-style service for a fee and booking The hotel sits on the rooftop of a kindergarten, which is both unique and endearing. Surrounded by plenty of great eateries and a short walk to the port for day trips to Capri, Positano, or Amalfi, the location is ideal for exploring. The interior is creative, colourful, and full of personality—a truly refreshing design. While it lacks a ground-floor reception (which would be helpful for managing luggage), and there are no pool or major facilities, it still offers a pleasant and memorable experience. A bit pricey for what it is, but I’d definitely consider staying here again for the charm and location alone.

LLKHKerMy family and I had a precious and memorable experience at Casa Astarita guesthouse in October. Although we walked for a while from the bus station to the house, we soon realized that we were already passing through the most central and lively area of Sorrento. Everything we wanted—restaurants, gift shops, gelato and drink bars, supermarkets, and more—was just a few steps from the guesthouse. The reception and hospitality at Casa Astarita were even more surprising and heartwarming, making us feel truly at home. We were deeply touched and grateful to be guests here. We especially enjoyed the morning breakfast time with other guests in the common dining area. The maids were kind and thoughtful, customizing our meals to our preferences. The room was spacious, and the furniture solid and traditionally functional—not designed for those expecting luxury decor, but perfectly comfortable. The balcony overlooked the main street below, where we could hear buskers and Italian music playing from the nearby restaurants, giving us an immersive sense of the city. On our checkout day, as we wanted to stay in the city until late, we were gladly offered luggage storage without hesitation. We sincerely thank the host for their considerate and customer-oriented service.

CClare.JThe chek-in process was smooth. Maria was super helpful. The Amalfi coast tour she recommended was the best thing I did in the whole trip of Italy. Please say thanks to Nino for me, our driver. He is the best. Everything is super clean and new. I admire how the cleaning was done. It's done like 5 star hotel. I've got to meet her the last day and she is super kind as well. The only downside was the noise from the wall next door(other guests). I could hear everything from their bathroom and when they flush the toilet it sounds like a bomb dropping into my ear. No kidding. Maybe in another room it might be better. I'm writing this because I really loved staying here. Everything is super close, convenient and neighbors are the nicest. I just hope maybe something can be done on that wall for a better soundproof because I really hope one day I wanna bring my parents to here and experience beautiful Sorrento. Overall, my stay was great and I wanna stay here again when I visit Sorrento. Everyone here is super friendly and I felt at home. Thank you.

GGuest UserWe arrived at 1030am and were informed that the check in was at 3pm. Asked twice because we thought it was later than usual. The lady with spectacles insisted it was 3pm. Checked online later, found out it was after 2:30pm. If the room wasn’t ready, she could have just said it so, instead of misleading us.  Second, this was the only hotel in entire Italy that didn’t even offer free water bottles. You would find it in the mini bar and it costs 3 euros.  The amenities consisted of paper cups and small bottles of body wash/ shampoo which weren’t replaced the next day, so we had to make do with what little soap was left. The bed was put horribly together. The bathroom had mold in so many corners, the walls were dirty, didn’t seem like it was thoroughly cleaned in years.  The good thing was that there was spare pillows, a balcony with table & chair. The breakfast was one of the better breakfast we had in Italy. The location was amazing, 1km to the port and there was a grocery shop nearby. The price was also reasonable  (250 euro per night) when we booked. However we considered extending our stay and checked two weeks before we were due to arrive and it had gone up more than 50%, at which point I don’t think it was worth it.

GGuest UserIt wasn’t terrible but I definitely wouldn’t book again. Location wise - it is on the port so good to access the beach and ferry, however, you have to walk up ++stairs to get to the main town where restaurants and shops are. I do not believe that the room itself was worth the amount we paid. This was one of the most nicest/expensive accomodations of our trip and we were so excited for our stay here. Our room had mould in the shower, the shower door did not close properly and the bed was hard it felt like a plinth. I attempted to discuss this further with the staff regarding a change of room with no success or alternative solution to my concerns. Other than that, having breakfast included was good and most of the other staff we interacted with were really friendly and helpful. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Il Faro to any of my family or friends visiting Sorrento.

OoliviachenzwWe stayed 3 nights at Santa Fortunata Village in Dodome Tent No. 9 and had a pleasant experience overall. The village is located a bit outside of Sorrento town, but since we were driving, the distance wasn’t an issue. For those not driving, they do offer a buggy service, which is convenient. Our tent didn’t have the best view, but we were still able to catch beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It was quiet and peaceful throughout our stay, with no disturbances from other campers. The bed was comfortable, and the tent included a plug point and two USB ports. However, there were no built-in lights, so we recommend bringing your own portable USB light. There were ants on the ground, but it wasn’t a major problem. The parking lot was spacious, and the shared bathrooms and toilets were a short walk away. Showers had hot water, and there were plenty of basins and mirrors available. The provided hair dryer was quite weak, so it’s better to bring your own if needed. The village also has mini marts and a restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant once—it was a bit pricey, but the atmosphere was elegant and enjoyable. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. They offer excursions as well, though we had already planned our own itinerary. All in all, it was a comfortable and quiet glamping experience. We'd definitely consider coming back!

Good
Iilzestayed here with a friend and overall, we had a pleasant experience. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, but it's just a short walk from the main street, which made it convenient yet peaceful. The room had a fantastic view, which we really enjoyed. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure — something we appreciated after long days of exploring. However, while the shower was advertised as having fancy jet options, none of them worked. This feature really shouldn't be promoted if it's not functional. The room was marketed as a deluxe bedroom, but in reality, it's a standard double room without any frills. We would’ve preferred if expectations were set more accurately — under-promising and over-delivering always makes for a better guest experience. Breakfast was basic and nothing to rave about, though we weren’t expecting much there, so no big disappointment. All in all, it’s a solid option for a short stay. But i won't be recommending for family or friends. Tbere are better option elsewhere. Just need to be booked in advance 😊
