"This hotel is super convenient! It's right across from JR Hakodate Station, just a 3-minute walk and two crosswalks away. Plus, the tram station is only 200 meters to the left of the hotel entrance. From there, it's a quick 10-minute ride to Jujigai Station, and then a 200-meter walk up a slope to the Hakodateyama Ropeway – perfect for catching the night view, which is a must-see in Hakodate. There's even a bus stop across from the hotel with buses to Goryokaku. The rooms are spacious, and the breakfast spread is fantastic. For the price, this hotel offers incredible value for money!"

"This hotel offers great value for money. Both the breakfast buffet and the room comfort exceeded my expectations. If you're planning to visit Mount Hakodate and the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses, especially in snowy weather, this is definitely the top choice because of its close proximity. Having lived in Tokyo for a long time, I've become somewhat jaded by bustling city centers and their dining scenes, which is why I didn't choose to stay near Hakodate Station. I preferred to spend more time quietly appreciating the tranquility of the rain, snow, and mountain pine forests. Many people mention long queues for the ropeway and tickets at Mount Hakodate, and that the Genova restaurant up there requires booking two weeks in advance and even then a window seat isn't guaranteed. However, I didn't encounter any of these issues because I traveled during off-peak times. I experienced zero wait times for everything, no advance booking or reservations needed. Therefore, staying at this hotel was incredibly convenient for me, and I was able to enjoy the beautiful daytime views of Mount Hakodate, which I found much more refreshing than the 'million dollar night view' that's become cliché on social media platforms like Xiaohongshu."

"Excellent! The hotel is super convenient, just a 1-minute walk from Hakodate Station – turn left out of the exit. Although our moderate double room didn't have a sea view, the street view overlooking the station was lovely too. The room size was average, but we could comfortably move around even with two 25-inch suitcases open. Housekeeping was impeccable, though they only clean every other day; on other days, they just replace amenities. The public bath was fantastic – a Japanese-style hot spring bath that felt like natural thermal water. It was incredibly relaxing, and they even offered free fruit popsicles. The hotel also has a washer-dryer combo, and there's a Lawson convenience store connected by an underground passage, which was super handy! Breakfast had a decent variety, but I felt it was a bit overpriced for what you got, though the small bottle of milk per person was delicious. My only minor gripes were the lack of body lotion in the room and the hairdryer, which was very old, low-powered, and difficult to use. Overall, it's a great hotel, and I'd definitely choose it again on my next visit to Hakodate!"

"I booked this hotel hoping for a room with a view of the JR trains, but we were given a lower-floor room facing the street. The street view wasn't bad, so I didn't complain. The location is right next to the JR station, just a one-minute walk away. The room was quite spacious and very clean. The rooftop onsen was excellent and very clean, and the body lotion provided was fantastic, though unfortunately, it's exclusive to the hotel and not available for purchase elsewhere. After a soak in the onsen, you can enjoy a hot drink and the night view outside. Hakodate Morning Market and a bus stop are nearby, making it very convenient for getting around. It's about a twenty-minute walk to Mount Hakodate. Overall, it was pretty good."

"The hotel's location is good, about an 8-minute walk from Hakodate Station. The lobby and public areas are impressively decorated, but the room decor, however, was a bit plain, and the space wasn't utilized very well. The bathroom also lacked a proper wet/dry separation.
There are two restaurants for breakfast: a buffet on the 1st floor and set menus on the 2nd floor. I had originally planned to try both options since I was staying for two nights. However, to my surprise, the buffet on the 1st floor required waiting for a table for over 40 minutes on both mornings, so I gave up. I ended up having the set menu on the 2nd floor for both days, which was decent. It was less crowded, and a set meal was quite filling for the morning. Overall, I'd rate it 3.5 stars."

"This was my favorite hotel during my trip to Japan. Arriving in Hakodate amidst heavy snow, pulling my suitcase into the hotel instantly made me feel safe. The room had a very retro decor. Two things really stood out: first, the duvet was incredibly soft, like a cloud – I've never experienced anything like that in a hotel before. Second, the super luxurious breakfast, which was a major reason I booked this place. I thoroughly enjoyed a delicious seafood feast in the morning. While soaking in the hot springs, I serendipitously met someone from my hometown, and he also raved about this hotel. We even shared popsicles and ramen that evening."

GGuest UserIt was a wonderful experience. I was so excited before arriving and still savoring it after returning. I booked a stay with two meals and enjoyed the hot springs three times a day. The ancient Showa atmosphere, mingled with the sea breeze from the Tsugaru Strait, was a highlight of my trip to Hakodate.

ZZuoyouzuoI've stayed at this hotel twice now. It's quite convenient; you can walk to Mount Hakodate, and the beach is close enough for some great photos. It's also near the station and a supermarket, plus there's a Lawson convenience store right downstairs.

CChrisYap1199Clean Apartment hotel. Interestingly they have an automated bath tub with water system. Good view and of coz a balcony for slow mornings and coffee. Location is great, only a few hundred meters to the train station. Convenience store just a few minutes walk. Near the fresh market. Staff were friendly and gave us toiletries and left it outside the room even when we did not ask for room cleaning. Spacious and great stay for Ironman participants as the unit is big, you can build your bike comfortably. Overall it was a great stay!

WWee LoonLocation is the king. Booked a room that can see the canal right off the window for a peaceful view. Otaru is a small town and most of the places are within walking distance. Stroll along the Otaru canal right in front of the hotel was great! Room itself was normal, and we have one advice for the hotel to just remove the aged cupboards in front of the beds since nobody really needs them to give more walking space and luggage space. Onsen on the top floor was decent though not of the best, offering a good view of the canal. Service at the hotel was normal. Those who have cars will need to pay 1200 yen for one day of parking (will need to inform hotel to reserve the parking space when you go out). Everybody, regardless you are going to onsen or not, needs to pay 150 yen onsen tax when you check in.

CChoy SumBecause I had to return the car at Hakodate Airport the next day, I chose to stay in Yunokawa, which only takes about 10 minutes by car. The hotel has free parking and also provides a buffet breakfast, which is really chill to eat breakfast against the unparalleled sea view. Friendly staff, willing to help, excellent service. Definitely bring my family again.

GGuest UserI really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It looked like it wasn't far from the JR station, but we arrived on a day with a heavy blizzard – something I, as someone from the south, had never experienced before. Just those few traffic lights left us utterly exhausted by the time we reached the hotel. Before checking out, we specifically called taxis. The minimum fare was 700 yen, and since we had a lot of luggage, we needed two cars. This was the only taxi company in Hakodate, Donan Taxi, that didn't charge a service fee for calling a cab, and the front desk was very helpful in arranging it for us.
Upon check-in, you definitely need to read the instructions. Used towels and bath towels can be exchanged at the front desk, but there's an additional charge of 200 yen for each extra towel. The hotel's only ice machine is in the convenience store on the first floor.
The hotel breakfast was fantastic! The seafood changed daily – sweet shrimp on the first day, salmon on the second, plus fresh shrimp tempura every day. The miso soup was delicious too. The room even had a washing machine, which is incredibly convenient for families on long trips.
We stayed on the 13th floor, and the ocean view was incredibly soothing. There's a beach not far from the hotel, and even in such cold weather, people were out surfing. The hotel's large public bath is also great; the women's bath is on the basement floor, and the men's is on the first floor. They use POLA toiletries.
For this price, and with such a spacious room, you really can't go wrong!

SSaSaleishaThis is the second time for the consecutive years of our stay. This hotel is the only reason for us to come back to Hokkaido again from last year’s trip. The ocean view in the room accompanied with the sound of tides / wind is peaceful and lovely; and the in-room but semi-outdoor/facing the sea onsen makes everything perfect. Also the lobby sitting area is another fascinating place for stay for a while! The downstairs souvenir shop, nearby walking distance Lawson/ 7–11 makes the location more convenient.
But maybe the expectation was too high after waiting for a year, I was disappointed for this stay several reasons:
1) too strong third hand cigarettes smell in the room, although we opened the window for 24 hours, the smell still lingered
2) check out time is WAY TOO EARLY(10 am) for a leisure purpose of stay
3) the room is clean but not the window, it hinder the view of seeing through the ocean ; and can tell the hotel is old from every corners.
I’ll reconsider to stay again if the price is worth the downside we need to compromise.
