"This hotel is very convenient and easy to travel to. It is close to many restaurants, local food spots, and the Miyagawa Morning Market. The hotel also provides parking facilities, which is very convenient for guests traveling by car. I had a great stay here and will definitely come back."

"Traveling to and from Nagoya by bus, this hotel is super close to the Nohi Bus Center, making its location very convenient. Hida Beef Restaurant Ajikura Tengoku is also nearby, about a 3-minute walk away. The room felt a bit small. The Premium Twin room is probably meant for up to three people, but for two guests, it felt like a waste of space. The hotel's cleaning service was also minimal; they changed towels and emptied the trash, which was sufficient. On the second floor, you can enjoy drinks and relax. I didn't visit the large public bath, but I did try the foot bath, and since no one else was there, it was quite relaxing."

"Hotel is just across from the Takayama Train station. Excellent location with a family mart on level one of it's building. Walking distance to all places of interest. Room is not big but ok for single traveler and is self contained with all the good japanese toiletries and amenities that one needs for a comfortable stay."

"This hotel is right next to Takayama JR Station. You can spot the 'hotel around' sign on the building as your train pulls in, though the name 'Ascend Hotel Collection' used on Ctrip might cause a little confusion. It's super convenient for getting to Shirakawa-go, as the Nohi Bus Terminal is right next door. The rooms are a bit small but very comfortable and have a modern, youthful design. I loved the thoughtful details, like the local restaurant and attraction cards in the lobby, the wall art in the elevator area, the bedside outlets, and the window-side sofa seating. For breakfast, there are four delicious options: Japanese, Western, and two vegetarian choices. I highly recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. There are also several great Hida beef BBQ restaurants not far from the hotel, perfect for dinner."

"The hotel is very close to JR Takayama Station. After exiting the station, you don't need to cross the road; just turn right towards Tokyu Stay, and you'll find it after passing Ajikura Tengoku. The hotel's decor is very unique. We booked a corner triple room, so the space was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Besides drip coffee and tea bags, the room also provided bottled mineral water. There's an open-air bath on the 9th floor – simply flawless. Before my trip, I read many reviews recommending Hida beef, but to my dismay, I discovered Ajikura Tengoku was closed when I arrived (ugh!). Luckily, I quickly found Maruaki, a famous Hida beef restaurant open year-round. The beef was incredibly rich and fatty – you'll definitely fall in love with Hida beef! I'm already planning to come back next year! 😋"

"An excellent choice for its proximity to Takayama station. Hotel has jacuzzi pool and misty sauna for guests to use. There are lots of dining options around the hotel and the morning markets are within walking distances. Will be back again on my next trip back to Takayama. Takayama is beautiful at sunset and lovely walks around town."

"The rooms are more spacious than they appear in the photos. The Onsen (hot spring bath) is small but very modern and well-maintained, and the service is absolutely fantastic! It's located in the old town of Takayama, so I'd say the location is perfect. The only drawback is that the rooms aren't soundproofed, so you can hear other guests."

"I chose this hotel because of its location and how nice the room looked, which turned out to exceed my expectations. I had an exceptional experience staying here. It’s less than a 5-minute walk from Takayama Station. We arrived quite early—several hours before check-in—but were able to store our luggage. The check-in process itself was smooth. The room we reserved felt more like an apartment-style hotel room. It was very spacious, with plenty of room to move around. I liked how the furniture was arranged; everything was well-maintained, clean, and tidy. The beds were large, and I especially appreciated that they provided four pillows each—I slept very comfortably. I also loved the balcony. My friend and I spent hours there, watching cars and trains come and go, as well as people walking by. The facilities and amenities were exactly as advertised in the Services & Amenities section. Out of my recent two-week trip, this accommodation was the place I enjoyed the most."

"The hot spring water was very hot and smooth. Parking was convenient. The room was okay, and the air conditioning worked well. The only downside was that amenities had to be requested from the front desk. It was a bit inconvenient to have to take the elevator down to the reception to get them when we wanted to use them in the room. The breakfast was a letdown, with limited choices and poor taste."

"This was my second stay at the Washington Hotel in Takayama, and I'll start with the pros. It's incredibly convenient, located directly across from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center. From the platform, it's less than a 50-meter walk to the hotel lobby, which is super handy. For travelers catching early buses to Shirakawa-go, Kamikochi, or Furukawa (especially recommended during cherry blossom season), this location is a huge advantage. All the nearby attractions are within walking distance, and the drugstore, restaurants, and specialty shops next to the hotel are among the last to close in Takayama. This is a big deal because many restaurants and shops in Takayama are quite particular, operating only four or five hours (or even just two or three) a day and often closing three or four days a week. Some restaurants even stop taking customers by 6 or 7 PM. We joked that at night, Takayama is full of 'hungry ghosts' wandering around! The hotel's toothbrushes are still the 'old style' and are much better than those in many other hotels. The triple room layout was well-designed and felt spacious when organized properly. The shower had good pressure and was very comfortable. What needs improvement is the shower curtain – it's too thin, so the strong shower spray easily splashes outside the tub. The breakfast is only a Japanese set meal. I tried it one day, and the taste was just so-so. I skipped it the second day, and it was still the same on the third, so I decided not to eat it again. The breakfast options are too limited; it looks good but doesn't taste great. Other hotel services were still good. The triple room had two trash cans, which shows thoughtful attention to detail. The overall bathroom facilities felt a bit old, and the extractor fan wasn't very powerful... Oh, and the hotel offers a hot spring ♨️ with pretty long opening hours, but I didn't get to try it, so I can't comment. All in all, for this price, being able to stay in such an extremely convenient, central location near the station (and commercial center) is definitely worth it. On a side note, I'm not sure if it's due to an economic downturn or the off-season, but Shirakawa-go and Takayama were noticeably less fun, less interesting to explore, and had fewer good shopping and dining options than my previous two visits. 'Travel early!' is truly not an empty phrase."
