"This small hotel has a special warmth that is difficult to put into words. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcome and like at home. Every corner is thoughtfully designed with love and attention to detail, creating a truly pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The staff are warm-hearted, friendly, and genuinely kind, making the stay not only comfortable but also unforgettable. A sense of peace, coziness, and care for guests can be felt at every step. "I feel like I stayed in a different hotel to some of these reviews! The hotel is at best a 3* by British standards. Our room was shabby with stained white towels, rusty taps, shower over the bath with a fabric curtain that you had position yourself and hold the shower head to prevent filling the bathroom with water - a lesson learnt on day one - not to mention damaged tiles, dirty grouting around the bath etc etc. On early arrival around midday, our room wasn’t ready so we were sent for lunch. When we returned we still had to wait so we went for a wander - needless to say no sun beds available at this time of day - next morning we found out why when people were reserving beds from around 6:30am! We were given no advice as to where everything was (towel hut - good luck finding that! ), Italian ‘gourmet’ restaurant - which actually serves the same food from the main restaurant (pizza/pasta) where to collect cushions for the mainly broken sun-beds. What was a real annoyance was being told we needed to pay 20 dinars each for towel hire which would be returned when we left. We had to convert £20 into dinars and when we left we were offered 40 dinars or £15 - they have a closed currency so you can’t take the money with you. They also fail to tell you that you can only used the dinars in the airport BEFORE you go through passport control and then they take all currencies except dinars! The food was very limited in variety and very much the same every day. The food was ever only ‘warm’ and although there is a microwave, you don’t know how long the food has been sitting around and I had an upset stomach 3 of the 7 days. The keycard was very hit and miss for the room and often took about 10 swipes to get it to work. I would not recommend this hotel and even our waiter admitted it was only a 3* by Tunisian standards. If you haven’t booked, don’t, if you have ask for a high floor because apparently the rooms are nicer at the top. We booked through On the Beach - no onsite help if you need it!"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 – Alex and the Animation Team We had an amazing stay at Hotel El Borj, and a huge part of that was thanks to Alex and the animation team. Alex was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always made sure everyone was having a great time. He worked so hard every day to keep guests entertained with fun activities, games, and fantastic evening shows. The whole team created such a fun and positive atmosphere, making everyone feel included no matter their age. They were always smiling, full of energy, and genuinely cared about making our holiday special. A massive thank you to Alex for making our stay unforgettable. If you’re staying at Hotel El Borj, be sure to join in with the entertainment—you won’t regret it! 10/10, highly recommended, and we can’t wait to come back!"

"Bad experience, not recommended. I don't recommend it. First, there's no food selection (limited buffet). Second, there's no Wi-Fi in the rooms. Third, there's a persistent damp smell in the hallways and rooms. The overall experience was disappointing."

El Mehdi Beach Resort ex Primasol El Mehdi Hotels in Mahdia

El Mehdi Beach Resort ex Primasol El Mehdi

"I stayed at the el Mehdi hotel between 20th may 2026- 27th may 2026 the view was stunning the room was 50/50 the shower kept going boiling hot then freezing cold and leaking out of the shower head , there was also water leaking out of the bidet. Our fridge worked fine but if it was on less then 5 then nothing in the fridge would be cold but if we had it on 7 some of the stuff in the fridge would freeze and form like ice glaciers inside the bottles and made a annoying humming noise but apart from that the room was good. However the entertainment people were really friendly especially Leo and Rayen there was a lot of variety of activities like aqua gym, waterpolo, volleyball, darts, salsa and ping pong. They always were kind and respectful to all guests and liked having fun with everybody (they love their job). The entertainment staff always treated you like a family member or friend and was always sad to see people leave. One or two nights, one during the week one on a weekend they have a disco like night which consists of music and dancing it’s really good however if you have younger children it might be difficult to get them to sleep as it finishes around 12am (midnight). The food in our opinion wasn’t good. There wasn’t a lot of variety especially for picky eaters or younger children and most of the fruit wasn’t ripe or like the strawberries , were flavourless and mushy. The pasta from the pasta station was chewy and the rice every time we had it was hard and chewy. The quality of the food for the price of the hotel was definitely not worth it at all. Most nights it would consist of fried fish which we was nervous to eat as they was serving RAW chicken (we spoke to another couple here who also was served raw chicken a couple days before we arrived.) We showed the pizza making chef the raw chicken and he even said one minute and rushed to get the head chef as even he could see it was pink and raw. When the head chef came out he tried telling us the pink was from rosemary and it was not raw at all and we was wrong. The head chef was very disrespectful and rude telling us we was crazy and delusional for thinking we had raw chicken. The pizza chef even said himself that the head chef doesn’t care and is an ignorant person. We did not expect this level of abuse and disrespect for commenting something was raw. If you go here always check your meat before you eat it. Also, not to mention the fact that the drinks we had from the fruit juice machine were so concentrated they were barely drinkable they was so strong and even watered down they tasted funny, the pineapple juice especially had a weird aftertaste. The fizzy drinks were always flat because they put some drink out a machine, shaked it in a bottle at the bar and gave it in your drink. We tried two alcoholic drinks one being a strawberry daiquiri which was nowhere near one but it tasted OK. But the vodka coke had a mould aftertaste and the beer was completely flat and had no head. Iberostar Selection Royal El Mansour ★★★★★
"The best five-star hotel in Mahdia, a small seaside town in Tunisia, is located right on the beach. It has many rooms spread across five floors, located in two wings of the lobby, offering beautiful views of the coastline. Amenities include an indoor pool, table tennis room, and massage room. The hotel is mostly frequented by expatriates; the books in the lobby are in German and Dutch, while the tour brochures are in Polish. During my stay in the winter off-season, the lowest price was 200 TND per night, including two meals (breakfast and dinner), which was very good value. During peak tourist season, it would probably cost around 1000 TND. There is a city tax of 12 TND per night for tourists. Free parking is available. The rooms have bathtubs and sea-view balconies; every morning I woke up to see the sea changing colors depending on the weather. The hotel restaurant is large. Having stayed for a week, I noticed they offered different main courses and themes every day. I tried sangria, couscous, lamb chops, beef, and sea bass—all delicious. The chocolate sauce and waffles at breakfast were exceptional! I haven't had anything like them anywhere else. Drinks at dinner are extra, but not expensive. The swimming pool is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The water is warm, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the sky and date palm trees. The environment is very comfortable and clean, but there's no requirement to wear a swimming cap. There's also a ping-pong room, a sauna and massage room, a café with hookah facilities, a bar, and a nightclub. The staff are very professional, and there's security screening at the hotel to ensure guest safety."

"The hotel has a nice environment, the beach and swimming pool are very beautiful, and the two-tone Mediterranean Sea is stunning. The hotel includes three meals a day, all in a buffet style, so you're sure to find something you like. The room facilities are relatively basic. Overall, it's a good resort hotel."

Monarque El Fatimi Mahdia ★★★★
"Location is far from the center on foot. The hotel is quite a distance from Mahdia’s old town and main attractions – not walkable if you’re expecting a quick stroll to the medina or beachfront restaurants. Cleanliness is below average. Don’t go with high expectations. While cleaning is done daily, the materials used (bed linens, towels, furniture) are old, stained, and often feel unclean. Not recommended for solo female travelers or groups of women. The entire staff engages in staring and verbal harassment – it’s constant and uncomfortable. Other guests’ behavior is ignored by management. Safety and respect are serious concerns here. Overall: outdated, unclean, and unsafe for women. Only consider if you’re on a very tight budget and traveling with a male companion. Otherwise, look elsewhere."
