The Elephant at the Market
7.8 (79 reviews)

The Elephant at the Market ★★★

📍 Market Pl, Newbury

"Very close to Newbury Railway Station, just a few minutes away. Located in Newbury Market, the scenery nearby is very beautiful. The room is a bit rudimentary, but there is nothing missing, there is everything. The room is in the backyard of the bar, and it is very convenient to go to the bar for a drink at night. Breakfast is not self-service, there are several breakfast options, and then you can make it. The breakfast is delicious, especially the fried eggs, and the fire is just right. I am going to Hacklear Castle. The front desk called a taxi for me. It costs more than 30 pounds to Hacklear Castle. I didn't book a ticket to Hacklear Castle in advance. It is also possible to buy a ticket there. Unlike the online, you must book a ticket in advance."

The Lodge
7.9 (102 reviews)

The Lodge ★★★

📍 Racecourse Rd, Newbury

"The lodge is a great location if you are going to the racecourse. We arrived at around 1:30 as the first race was at 2:30 and was told that if we wanted to check in early we would have to pay a fee of £20. When the races often start at around 2-2:30 this seemed unreasonable. I had to come out of he racecourse between races to check In. I’ve stayed at the Lingfield racecourse hotel and they checked us in 12:30 as our room was ready. Went for breakfast at around 7:50 and there was no menus out, the staff seemed totally disorganised. There was no instructions on how to order food. The continental “help yourself” was ok but had very little fruit options. They did have alpro soya and oat milk as milk alternatives. The room was clean and tidy but very basic. It did have a free standing fan which was good in the warm weather. The bad was big and comfortable. The shower was nice and had shower gel. The customer service let it down a little."

Newbury Town Centre South A339

Newbury Town Centre South A339 ★★★

📍 Centre, Pinchington Ln, Faraday Road, Hilton, Greenham, Newbury

"Enjoyed a lovely meal, with Arianna and Emily as my superb hosts. Great service, with a smile. Food was really good. Look forward to my next stay 👍"

Cbh Donnington & Co (Formerly Donnington Valley Hotel)
8.3 (91 reviews)

Cbh Donnington & Co (Formerly Donnington Valley Hotel) ★★★★

📍 Old Oxford Rd, Donnington, Newbury

"Staff and service are lovely lovely - the bed on my first night was a little soft. Skirting in the first bathroom didnt look like it had been cleaned in a year. The upholstery was pretty grim in both rooms, large cofee/wind stain on the curtains. The sofa looked like something from a student house and the desk chair pretty much the same - not reflective of room price"

"What a pleasant surprise! I didn't expect to find such a cozy hotel in a small town near London. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the breakfast was good. It's very convenient for people with cars, as it has its own parking lot. Note that the parking entrance is at the back door of the hotel."

Premier Inn Newbury Town Centre (London Road) ★★★
"Lovely clean room spacious everything you could need for an overnight stay. Unfortunately there was no hot water in bath/shower only luke warm. Sink tap very hot and the mixer bar get hot to the touch but water did not get hot. Consequently we had to have a cool bath in the evening after a long day and cool shower first thing. As it was late in the evening no member of staff on duty to ask"

"Premier inn is top notch. I came to stay a few days ago and I was welcomed by a staff member called Dina. She made sure we were booked in for dinner and had everything in our favour. The room was really comfortable and homely and we had a brilliant night sleep. Upon asking a team member to fill up our water she kindly did so and gave us a jug to take to our room. In the morning, there was a young boy who welcomed us at the stand with a big smile and gave us a smooth breakfast. When asking him and questions about breakfast he made sure that they were answered even though it was busy in the restaurant and he was alone. He said that his name was Shaun. Overall the stay was brilliant and everything went really well. Dina and Shaun and the team are a credit to the building. Thank you."

"Reception great. Rooms conditions good but the rooms quite far from each other. Why no separate shower from both. All customers in this group unable to get into bath for shower. All rooms for disabled should have walk in showers. WiFi signal none existent..unalble to sign in although paid for excess."
