Global Cabin Dormy Inn Yokohama Chinatown

9.7/10
Amazing

The location is excellent, right across from the Kuan Tai Temple in Yokohama Chinatown, and it's about an 8-minute walk to the Minatomirai Line subway station. Check-in and check-out were very convenient. You can get free water at the front desk, and the kitchenette offers complimentary drinks. The bed space is very generous, almost like a small double bed, and comes with a table, chair, hanger, and towel. There are outlets conveniently located by the bed and on the bedside table, which is very thoughtful. The room, shower room, and toilet were all very clean, and they even provided paper cups, makeup remover pads, and various other free amenities.

If you're attending a concert, this is undoubtedly the best choice. It's right next to K-Arena, a mere 1-minute walk away. Anpanman Children's Museum is also very close. There's a Lawson convenience store nearby that closes at 11 PM. It's a bit of a distance to Yokohama Station, about a 15-20 minute walk, or around 1500 JPY by taxi. There's a bus to Haneda Airport right outside, but it has limited operating hours. However, since it's the first stop, you don't need to book tickets in advance; you can just buy them on the spot. The shower is in the bathtub. Breakfast was decent, nothing special.

InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8

Undoubtedly Yokohama's top luxury experience! This hotel exclusively occupies Pier 8, surrounded by the sea on three sides, and its exterior resembles a luxury cruise ship. Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the elegant spiral staircase and nautical-themed design. Located in the heart of Minato Mirai, it's just a short walk to the Red Brick Warehouse, the Ferris wheel, and the Cup Noodles Museum. The guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, offering an unobstructed 270-degree panoramic view of Yokohama Port's nightscape and the city skyline. Sunrises, sunsets, and dazzling city lights all become your private masterpiece. The space is generous, featuring a modern Japanese aesthetic with warm wood tones and meticulous attention to detail. The bedding is comfortable, and soundproofing is excellent. The bathroom comes with Byredo amenities, and the large bathtub directly faces the sea. The facilities are new and well-maintained, with a gym, courtyard, and sea-view terrace all available.

I had a 17-hour layover in Yokohama on my way to Washington, so I decided to spend a night here. The location is excellent! From Yokohama Station's NEWoMan building, you just follow the signs on the second-floor concourse, and it leads straight to the hotel – about a 6-7 minute walk after exiting the station. If you don't want to walk through the mall, after exiting Yokohama Station, look for the North Exit first, then the Northwest Exit; this also connects directly to the concourse, so you're sheltered from any weather. I chose a room with breakfast, which was pretty standard but perfectly fine for filling up. They had a great selection of amenities, very comprehensive. And with my Trip.com points, the price was an absolute steal!

InterContinental Yokohama Grand

For my Yokohama trip, I chose the InterContinental Yokohama Grand, and the overall experience was absolutely stunning – easily the most satisfying hotel of my Kanto trip. It offered a high-end stay with a perfect blend of city views, quality service, and an unbeatable location, making it ideal for an in-depth exploration of Yokohama, enjoying the nightscapes, and a relaxing getaway. The hotel's location is truly unparalleled. It's right next to Yokohama Port, the iconic Ferris wheel, the Red Brick Warehouse, and shopping districts. Step outside, and you're on a seaside promenade, perfect for walks, photos, and enjoying the night view. World Porters shopping mall and various restaurants and cafes are within walking distance, and there's a convenience store downstairs, so you'll never have to worry about food or shopping. Transportation is also very convenient; it's close to the station and has a direct airport bus, making travel and departures completely hassle-free. The biggest bonus was definitely the unbeatable floor-to-ceiling harbor view. While Japanese hotels are generally on the smaller side, the InterContinental's rooms are spacious and airy, with an elegant and tidy layout. During the day, natural light is abundant, offering expansive views of the clear harbor sky. At sunset, the gentle glow is incredibly therapeutic. As night falls, Yokohama Port lights up brilliantly, and the Ferris wheel's spectacular lights create a magical ambiance. You can enjoy a front-row view of the nightscape right from your bed, and the atmosphere is simply immersive. The overall hardware reflects the quality of an established five-star hotel. The decor is elegant and luxurious, and maintenance is impeccable, showing no signs of age. The bedding in the room was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a very quiet night's sleep. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the toiletries were high-quality and thoughtfully detailed, making for a very comfortable stay. Service was consistently excellent throughout. The front desk efficiently handled check-in with professionalism, and the staff were polite, gentle, and responsive. Luggage storage and room service were meticulous, making the entire experience feel secure and dignified. The hotel's public areas are clean and grand, perfect for strolling, taking photos, or simply relaxing. The only minor drawback is that since the hotel has been open for a while, some of the facilities have a more traditional style, not the trendy minimalist look. However, the overall maintenance is superb, and it doesn't detract from the living experience. Overall, the InterContinental Yokohama Grand is a benchmark hotel that's a must-stay when visiting Yokohama. With its unbeatable views, killer location, and reliably high-quality service, it's highly recommended for couples, families, or independent travelers. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Yokohama.

The room is cozy, compact but well-equipped. It’s conveniently located just behind the Shinkansen station, with many eateries nearby. I had a comfortable rest after several days of traveling.A self-service laundry is also available if you need to wash your clothes with a fee

The location is really convenient, perfect for a layover hotel if you're transferring from Haneda Airport to Osaka or Kyoto. It's only a 400m walk from the Shinkansen station, and there's even a 7-Eleven inside the hotel. However, the downside is that there's a lot of street noise from cars revving their engines at night, and the soundproofing is extremely poor.

My stay at Comfort Hotel Yokohama Kannai was enjoyable overall. Parking costs 1,600 yen per day. The front desk team was welcoming, attentive, and professional, making check-in quick and easy. The breakfast buffet was generous and varied—I loved the creamy scrambled eggs with toast and broccoli, and the grilled mackerel with rice was outstanding. Granola with fresh milk was a nice addition. The double room was clean and comfortable, although the bed felt a bit tight. It would be more convenient if complimentary bottled water were available.

The place was old, but well kept enough. The staff were helpful, and the location is near the furthest exit of the train station - so mostly sheltered, which is great

Facilities: The room was a bit old-fashioned; it didn't use a key card for electricity, which meant the power was always on. It's an eco-friendly hotel, as the front desk provides towels. Cleanliness: Acceptable. Environment: Getting to the JR station wasn't very convenient, as you had to cross pedestrian overpasses.
