"We really really enjoyed our stay in Lato Lato. Location and view is extremely superb. Many other resorts don’t have this unblocked view of the sea. There were so many starfish fish turtles just down stairs of our room it was amazing. Also there is a balcony in every room which is a steal deal for the money. For the money it’s worth it. Their snrkelong and scuba tours are also very reasonable The cons are hotel staff is not professional you need to ping them quite a lot to get to do basic stuff. Most people do not understand English but the reception lady can speak so that is okay. There are really no amenities like food snacks. We brought our own snacks. The food is up to each s preference. One thing was really bad they ran out of snorkelling gear. So we couldn’t snorkel the time we stayed there which is very bad cause they said they only keep 10 snorkels for the whole resort. But the staff made decorations for my bf s b day and also danced with us so they are simple and happy people just need some more responsibility. Overall for the price I think it’s really good stay if are okay to give up the cons :) We will be coming back for sure!"

"AU YU Room is beautiful and offers a lovely sea view. The room was clean and well-maintained overall. One tip for future guests: wear the in-house slippers, as there was quite a bit of sand on the floor. The location is convenient, with many restaurants within walking distance. However, the nearest laundry service is on the other side of the city, so you'll need to take a Grab if you require laundry facilities. The only downside was the security deposit of RM200, which felt rather high. The deposit is only refunded after the staff completes a room inspection during check-out. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with a great view and good dining options nearby."

"This is one of the better hotels in Semporna town, and the price is quite reasonable. We only discovered this hotel after arriving. Its excellent location made us willing to pay a cancellation fee to switch from our previous booking. The hotel is located away from the indigenous areas and is close to the Hia Feng Jetty. The soundproofing is actually decent, not as noisy as some reviews claim. Perhaps we're just heavy sleepers, but we slept soundly through the night. The rooms are a bit dated, but the overall space is fine, and the two large beds are perfect for families. The room also has a balcony, which is great for drying clothes. I suggest the hotel consider replacing the towels and bedsheets, especially the towels, as they've become discolored and don't feel very fresh. For breakfast, there are three options spread across three restaurants, offering both Western and Chinese dishes. There's plenty to fill you up."

"If you expect a luxury and comfortable holiday Resort, you are wrong. It's just simple wooden house supported by wooden pillors in the shallow water. The water is crystal clean yes and also garbage floats on it, not so much but you will see it. Considering it is located in a remote small island that poor infrastructure is understandable, but the three meals of every day are far below you expected. Fried rice, fried rice noodle, chicken, eggs chopped fish, one or two vegetables dishes, you would not be hungry but you would not be enjoying your holidays."

"The hotel is quite close to the pier. My room was on a corner, and I could see the sea, but it was more of a side view. It could get a bit noisy in the mornings due to the pier. For Semporna town, it's considered a pretty good hotel."

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent with a great variety of choices—they have clearly made a huge effort to improve based on past reviews! Special thanks to Syafik, who took great care of me and ensured I was transported safely. Pro-tip for future travelers: Fly into Tawau Airport rather than Lahad Datu. The resort provides convenient travel arrangements from Tawau to the jetty, whereas if you fly into Lahad Datu, you have to organize your own transport. (Trip.com should definitely update their platform to reflect Tawau as the primary airfield for this location!)"

"The room was spacious with a fantastic view. I was lucky to get room 61, and I even saw sea turtles returning at night – it was an amazing experience! The buggy service was quite prompt, usually arriving about 10 minutes after a call. The service was excellent, and there was a Chinese-speaking staff member available every day. The Trip.com staff were also very responsible, repeatedly confirming my arrival, departure, and ferry times. Overall, a delightful trip!"

"The rooms are a bit dated, but clean and tidy, and come with a spacious balcony. Most of the staff can speak Chinese, and their service is very enthusiastic, offering free airport transfers and island pick-up/drop-off. While the dining options aren't extensive, they cater well to Chinese tastes. It's true that there are many tourists taking photos, but it won't bother you much if you're just enjoying your own trip. Most importantly, the crystal-clear water allows you to clearly see fish, starfish, sea urchins, and turtles. The wooden cabins and walkways are surrounded by flowers, and occasionally Bajau people will paddle by in small boats selling coconuts and fresh seafood – these are truly unique features of the hotel."

"The hotel room was as beautiful as pictured, and when the curtains were open, it felt like being in a forest. The path leading to the room was also very nicely decorated. However, once you stepped out of the hotel, there was absolutely nowhere to walk, play, or explore; I thought there would at least be some gardens. Getting a car arranged to go into town was easy and they could usually accommodate my requested times. The breakfast, which included a bowl of noodles and other small dishes, was quite good. My only complaint is that the Wi-Fi was completely unusable the entire time!!!!!!!! I couldn't even connect to Wi-Fi from other rooms, or even from their other hotels. Internet was only available in the lobby."

"1️⃣ The location is about 1.2km from the pier, a 20-minute walk or a hotel shuttle bus. However, the road there is very bad, with no sidewalks, making it somewhat dangerous at night. 2️⃣ The hotel is located in a courtyard. Check-in and hotel staff all work in the courtyard. If someone is talking outside, you can hear them inside, as there is virtually no soundproofing. Similarly, conversations inside can be heard by passersby outside. Those seeking privacy and quiet should think twice. 3️⃣ The rooms are very basic. There are no curtains, only Roman blinds. The bathroom doesn't even have curtains. 😰 If you stay on the first floor, there's practically no privacy at night. Why didn't they even bother with curtains? It's really unpleasant. 4️⃣ It's very noisy at night. There are all sorts of insect and bird chirps, motorcycles passing by, and a constant, inexplicable mechanical humming outside my room. It was incredibly noisy. Then, at 4 AM, they started chanting prayers through a loudspeaker next door. I basically spent the whole night surrounded by noise; it was torture! 😩 5️⃣ Breakfast was just an egg and a bowl of noodles. After that, you could go island hopping. In short, I wouldn't recommend staying here at this price. It's just too noisy. The most important thing about staying in a hotel is rest, and the room lacks privacy without curtains. It rains frequently here, and there's a musty, watery smell on the first floor. It's a very average hotel, not worth the price. Personally, I think if you're going to be noisy anyway, you might as well stay near the pier."
