GGuest UserChoosing Beanstalk Homestay for my Semporna trip was absolutely the right decision! The owner and staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, treating you like friends. Before I even arrived, they patiently answered all my questions and gave me tons of practical tips for island hopping and dining. While the room isn't luxurious, it's spotlessly clean, the AC works great, there's plenty of hot water, and the bedding is really comfortable. Getting a good night's sleep after a day of activities is so important.
The service was the biggest plus! The seafood preparation prices were excellent, and the breakfast, though simple, was thoughtfully prepared – coffee, toast, and eggs, perfect for fueling up before heading out to sea. Next time I'm in Semporna, I'll definitely stay at Beanstalk Homestay again.

GGuest UserThis is a very nice place and everything feels secure. The room was impeccable. They even provide eggs, noodles, toast, coffee, tea, and water, along with a washing machine. The jetty for excursions is a 15-minute walk away. We also used their transfer service to get to the airport, and everything went very smoothly. I was a bit worried beforehand because I rarely got a response when I contacted them before our stay, but once we arrived, everything was great and the photos matched the reality perfectly.

GGuest UserThe owner provided excellent service, and the place was very clean. It's a bit far from the pier, otherwise, I would definitely stay here again. They even brought us an umbrella when it rained, which was really thoughtful. The owner was also very communicative and friendly.

The surroundings were quiet at night, and the soundproofing was good, so I slept soundly until I woke up naturally. The air conditioning cooled quickly, and the bedding was comfortable. GGuest UserI booked the Deluxe King Room, but overall I was quite disappointed with my stay, especially considering the price of RM259 per night.
The bed was extremely firm, and both sides of the mattress seemed to have sunk slightly, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. The pillows were also far too soft. Even after a long and tiring day, I still couldn’t get a good night’s sleep.
Another issue was the air conditioning. It took an unusually long time to cool the room, and it wasn’t until the early hours of the morning that the room finally became comfortable.
The hotel is located next to a busy intersection, so there was constant noise from cars and motorcycles. On top of that, the soundproofing was poor, and outside noise could be heard very clearly throughout the night, making it difficult to rest.
The only highlight of my stay was the front desk staff. They were professional, friendly, and provided excellent service, which I truly appreciated.
Overall, apart from the great service from the staff, I feel the hotel needs significant improvement in terms of bedding quality, air conditioning, and soundproofing. At RM259 per night, I don’t think it offers good value for money. I’m confident that in Semporna, it’s possible to find much better hotels at a similar price point.

AAnonymous UserI have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is beautiful, set in a jungle with lush greenery and flowers all around and it feels peaceful the moment you arrive. The staff were generally nice, especially the Chinese-speaking lady. The rooms are quite spacious, with two large double beds that were very comfortable, and relatively clean given the remote location. They also offer shuttle buses to and from town, though these are limited and require advance booking.
On the downside, the remoteness creates some challenges. The shuttle requires early wake-ups and long waits as the day tours start later, and there isn’t much to do in town once you arrive. Prices at the resort are very high compared to town, and they charge extra when paying with Alipay or WeChat in Chinese yuan as instead of local currency they charge in Chinese yuan with elevated rates, which felt unfair.
Also the room’s roof material made the rain extremely loud. During our stays,it rained all nights during, and even earplugs didn’t fully help with the sound.
Breakfast was also limited and not great in quality.
Overall, the hotel has a lovely setting and comfortable rooms, but advertising it as 5-star felt misleading. It’s more like a 3–3.5 star experience. Worth visiting if you want the location and nature, but be aware of the extra costs and limitations.

There were several small supermarkets nearby, making things very convenient. The ice cream was also delicious and inexpensive. If you're interested, you should definitely check it out!

Room is clean and provided with cloth washing powder, travellers can wash their laundry after water activities.
Owner plans to buy washing machine and dryer soon.
Location is just 5min walk to fish market and 10mins to restaurants.
A bit noisy with the stray dogs barking during night time.

AAnonymous UserConsidering Semporna, this place offers decent value for the price. However, the water pressure is quite low, and it's either scalding hot or freezing cold. Even though the staff don't speak much English, they are incredibly friendly. Overall, it's pretty good value for money.
