Semporna Hostels

Spent 2 nights here. The rooms were clean and tidy, price was affordable, and the customer service was excellent. The noise that the owner mentioned was not a problem as I did not hear any and had a good night rest. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the jetty. The hotel owner is very friendly and helpful. Able to accustom some special request. Never ask never know. The room and bathroom are spacious and aircond is very cooling. One downside is the water filter is spoilt during our stay, there is no hot water available unless use their electric kettle. Overall great hotel comfortable stay. Definitely worth coming again.

A very satisfying stay at this hotel. The location is convenient, it offers great value for money, and the room is spacious. Most importantly, the service is incredibly thoughtful ❤️. Upon check-in, we received complimentary snacks and a simple breakfast. Even small details were well-prepared—earplugs and hair ties were provided! And they even thoughtfully included conditioner! This was a lifesaver for someone whose hair gets tangled and dry after swimming in the sea. Overall, the stay was very comfortable, and you could feel the owner's attentiveness everywhere. I would definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Semporna!

Compared to the overall hygiene of the town, the facilities and environment here are quite good. The location is excellent, less than 50 meters from the dive shop, which is incredibly convenient for going out to sea. The downsides are the lingering formaldehyde smell from the recent renovation, which can be quite bothersome for those with sensitive noses. As for service, it's not non-existent, but perhaps because it's the off-season, it felt like there was only one staff member on duty at a time, either at the front desk or cleaning. Neither spoke Chinese, so travelers who aren't comfortable with English might want to consider this. Lastly, since it's on the second floor, carrying large luggage up might be a bit of a struggle.

very convenient in terms of location. rate per night is also reasonably affordable. friendly and helpful staff. cleanliness is very good. room is quite spacious. facilities is good. only have to walk up the stairs for those with luggage is quite a hassle. overall is really recommended.

I arrived in Tawau at 3 PM, but the airport didn't allow overnight stays, so I had to head to Semporna three hours earlier. Coincidentally, the front desk staff that day didn't speak Chinese or English, so we communicated using a translation app. It went smoothly; they allowed us to rest in the lobby and use the public restrooms. They were really kind and friendly throughout. After daybreak, we left our luggage there and went island hopping. We checked in upon our return in the evening. The cleanliness was good, and I didn't find any mosquitoes. My only minor regret was not having a place to hang my washed clothes, but thankfully, summer clothes dry quickly. The location is great, with plenty of food and drink options downstairs, including restaurants and supermarkets. Overall, for the price, I was very satisfied. If I go back, I'd definitely consider staying here again. I forgot to take photos of the hotel, so I'll just use my island hopping pictures instead.

For those looking to save money and just go island hopping, this is a convenient place to stay. There are several eateries on the ground floor, a 24-hour convenience store, and a laundry service. It's not too far from the jetty, and parking is easy to find. However, as it's a budget hotel, don't expect too much. It's comfortable enough for sleeping and showering. For improvement, I suggest the hotel fixes the air conditioning. The AC unit was dripping water in front of the door, soaking slippers and making the floor muddy. The toilet also had some sand residue (perhaps from previous guests returning from island hopping/diving). Otherwise, everything else was good, including the mattress and the coolness of the air conditioning.

Really great stay, excellent wifi, hot shower & clean bathroom. Staff at check in were very kind and even let us check in early. One of the best night sleep we’ve had so far on our trip - the room was dark, very quiet, and the bed was seriously comfortable, could stay here just to sleep in the room

Pros: Conveniently located near the island-hopping pier, just a 10-minute walk away. They can also arrange affordable shared transfers to the airport. Cons: The facilities are very basic, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Breakfast was also extremely simple, offering only a few items: plain congee, bread, fried noodles or eggs, and rather cheap sausages. There were no fresh vegetables or fruit available at all.
