Hotels in Huaihai Road Area/Xintiandi Area, Shanghai

We spent a couple days in Shanghai to end our anniversary trip in China. We chose Campanile for the location, which was very good. Staff was friendly, but spoke limited english. Room was not good, not bad. Bed was right next to the entrance door and the hallway sounds came through pretty loudly. The chairs in our room had old smudges, other than that room was clean. Shower was working pretty badly. Water was leaking on the bathroom floor even though it had a shower door. There was construction outside the hotel, which was informed clearly beforehand. We were okay with the noises, because we didnt spend much time in our room other than sleeping at night. This hotel met our needs during our stay. Okay hotel for the price, but nothing special.

This hotel is located on Donghu Road in the premium Xuhui District. Downstairs, you'll find the charming Julu-Fumin-Changde (JFC) area, perfect for strolling and dining. What's even better, parking is free, which is a rare find in such a prime location. The hotel used to be Du Yuesheng's mansion, and the old Donghu Hotel building is just across the street. I really enjoyed my stay this time and look forward to experiencing the old building next time I visit Shanghai.

A Charming Stay at a Tiny, Cozy Hotel Tucked away from the busy streets, this small hotel feels like a hidden gem that instantly wraps you in warmth. Though compact in size, every corner is thoughtfully designed—soft lighting, tasteful decor, and little touches like fresh flowers or warm blankets make it feel far more intimate than a standard chain hotel. The room itself is snug but perfectly laid out, with a comfortable bed, clean amenities, and just enough space to relax after a long day. There’s no wasted room, but everything you need is within easy reach, and the quiet atmosphere makes it easy to unwind. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always greeting you with a smile and happy to help with recommendations or small requests. Even the common areas, though small, feel inviting—great for a quick coffee or a casual chat. What this hotel lacks in size, it more than makes up for in charm and comfort. It’s quiet, clean, welcoming, and feels like a home away from home. If you prefer a cozy, personal stay over a large, impersonal hotel, this place is absolutely ideal. I left feeling rested and content, and I’d happily return on my next visit.

The room was clean and tidy. The subway access was very convenient, and it was close to People's Square and the Bund, both within walking distance. There are also several old-brand restaurants nearby, which was a nice bonus.

The hotel's location is excellent, with a subway station not far away and the Bund within walking distance. The staff were very helpful. The only issue with the hotel is the poor soundproofing, which can be quite problematic for light sleepers. A staff member even knocked on my door in the middle of the night, which startled me and made me hesitant to open it.

I frequently stay at Atour hotels, and this one met expectations in terms of location and service. However, I won't be choosing to stay here again because the hand towels and bath towels were all individually wrapped in plastic bags. 1/ This practice is tacky and diminishes the brand image. Seriously, which five-star hotel would wrap its towels and bath sheets in plastic bags? The cleanliness of a towel depends on a user's trust in the brand (meaning Atour's towels should inherently be clean), not on a dust-proof sealed bag (if Atour's towels aren't truly clean, what's the point of putting them in a dust-proof bag anyway?). 2/ This approach doesn't genuinely consider the user's needs. Every time I finish showering and am dripping wet, wanting to grab a bath towel immediately, I realize, oh, I still have to tear open the bag, throw it away, before I can use the towel. The same goes for washing hands. 3/ This action contradicts Atour's stated commitment to environmental protection. The eco-friendly explanations/cards in the room not only become mere decorations but also appear incredibly ironic (this card explains that Atour's towels might not look pristine white, not because they're dirty, but because they're not bleached during washing for environmental reasons). If they avoid bleaching towels for environmental protection, why waste plastic bags for every single towel? Think about how many guests stay daily, how many towels/bath sheets are used daily, and how many bags are wasted as a result. 4/ This practice goes against the entire hotel industry's efforts to reduce single-use items and lags behind competitors in terms of marketing. If a few guests are concerned about unwrapped towels, sealed towels could easily be provided at the front desk. This is similar to how hotels don't actively provide single-use toiletries, but guests can pick them up if needed. Currently, Atour provides sealed towels indiscriminately, regardless of whether the guest requests them, leading to a massive waste of single-use bags and denying guests the right to choose. I've taken the time to write this feedback hoping the hotel will take it seriously and make improvements.

The hotel was good. Nice size room. Low shower head pressure but not terrible. It was clean and the staff was nice. My only 2 things I’d complain about are the A/C was minimal. The room wasn’t hot but it wasn’t cooled very well. The other is there is a construction site beside the hotel and my room faced it and the start work about 6:30 and it woke me up one morning. Location was ok. It is about a 30 minute walk to the bund and yu garden.

The hotel was just renovated, everything is new, the hygiene and service are excellent, there's a food street downstairs, and the environment is nice.

There was some kind of machinery, possibly an AC unit, right outside the window that hummed all night long. The thick curtains seemed to be hiding something. Besides the bed, there was only about two square meters of floor space, and trying to move around reminded me of my night shifts at work. The cat was great, worth 3 points, but that's about it.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was excellent. The location is very convenient — there is a metro station nearby, which makes getting around the city extremely easy. There are also several grocery stores close to the hotel, as well as the main attractions within easy reach. The waterfront is about a 20-minute walk away. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained. Housekeeping was done every day, and everything always smelled fresh and clean. The staff were friendly and always ready to help with anything I needed. Honestly, I didn’t expect much, but the hotel turned out to be really great. I would definitely recommend it.
