Stayed here with my fur baby, and the pet-friendly experience was fantastic! They provided so many pet supplies in the room, which was super convenient. I really love Langham's color scheme; so many things are pink! There was even a dog-shaped pillow in the room – so cute! Sicily, one of the staff members, was incredibly warm and friendly, checking in on our stay experience. Overall, everything was lovely. Thumbs up for her! 👍👍

I chose this Light Inn for my trip to Shanghai, and it was a real gem! The location is absolutely fantastic – the subway station is right downstairs, making it super convenient to get to The Bund, Yu Garden, and Nanjing Road either by walking or taking the subway. Getting around was a breeze.
The hotel really impressed me with its attention to detail: the lobby has a self-service hydration station with unlimited cucumber-lemon water and grapefruit tea, which was so refreshing and photogenic. The bathroom in the room had Jo Malone toiletries, and the shower pressure was excellent, making for a really comfortable shower experience. The room itself was clean, tidy, and well-lit, with a soft bed that ensured a good night's sleep. They also provided individually packaged, high-quality bath towels, which felt great and showed a real commitment to guest comfort. 👍
The front desk service was gentle and attentive. The overall decor is minimalist and chic, with an elegant atmosphere. For a downtown hotel, the value for money is truly exceptional. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit to Shanghai!

I originally chose this hotel because it's in the city center, right above a subway station, and offers free parking. I ended up being pleasantly surprised! The front desk staff, especially Dou Dou, were incredibly patient and helpful with all my questions. And there was a young man named Yun Bang who was also great, a real powerhouse!

Stumbled on this place and honestly, it's a keeper.
Location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the French Concession, 3 mins from South Shanxi Road subway. That line gets you everywhere, so you're connected to the whole city without paying central tourist prices.
What really got me was the outdoor patio. In expensive Shanghai, that's a flex. The whole lobby and dining area feel super cozy and homey—almost like a US-style social hub. I noticed 90% of the guests were non-Chinese, so if you're looking for an easy place to chat with other travelers, this is it.
Rooms are clean, efficient, and have a fun, big design that makes the space feel bigger than it is. Breakfast is included and actually good—freshly made Chinese and Western options, so you don't have to hunt for coffee and eggs in the morning.
Staff are genuinely friendly. They'll give you honest food recs and even help with delivery requests if you're ordering anything.
Best value I've found in this location. Already planning my next trip back.
Pro tip: Grab a coffee or tea on that patio in the morning —just like you would do that in your own house. Super relaxing and great vibe. Also ask the front desk which side of the building is quieter; they'll set you up away from any street noise.

Special praise goes to front desk staff Vivian for her warm and thoughtful service, as check-in and check-out were handled efficiently and quickly. The hotel boasts an excellent location with convenient dining and transportation options nearby. It offers great value for money overall and is highly recommended. My experience at the Hilon Select Hotel Jing'an Temple store was great! It's right next to Jing'an Temple subway station, which makes getting to Nanjing Road and Jing'an Kerry Centre super convenient. The location is absolutely fantastic. The room was clean and tidy, with a sophisticated, light luxury decor that felt very high-quality. The premium bedding was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom amenities were a thoughtful touch. The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and efficient, going above and beyond to be helpful. Excellent value for money!

This is my second time booking here, as someone from the suburbs, I'm playing city dweller for a few days. Part of me selfishly hopes fewer people discover this hidden gem of a hotel in such a prime location, but I also genuinely wish for it to thrive.
What truly stands out is how polite the parking attendant is; he's one of the friendliest security guards I've ever encountered. My mood is always great from the moment I enter or leave the parking lot, and I hope the hotel gives them some recognition.
The street opposite has recently been renovated and is now open for business, which has really enhanced the shopping experience around here. It's truly a comfortable stay.
As Shanghainese say, '螺蛳壳里作道场' (making a grand show in a snail shell – meaning making the most of a small space), the room has everything you need. The only minor drawback is the limited storage space; it would be perfect if there were an additional small table/chair or a TV cabinet.

For solo travellers like me, I suggest you book this hotel. The staff are very friendly and will always attend to your needs, plus the area feels extra safe with them around. The best part is that most of them can converse in English. Going to book this hotel again for my next trip to Shanghai.

I stayed at the Garden Hotel again during the May Golden Week holiday to watch the Longines Global Champions Tour in Shanghai.
My first stay at the Garden Hotel was 30 years ago. The marble in the lobby, the Rose restaurant, and the small mosaic tiles in the corridors still maintain their grand and elegant style. That's why I always come back to this familiar place whenever I return to China.
It was a family member's birthday on the day we checked in, and the hotel gave us a box of rich chocolates. I was truly touched by the hotel's thoughtfulness, it made us very happy!
**Facilities**: The TOTO toilet at the Garden Hotel is my favorite because of its washlet function, making going to the restroom so comfortable! The depth and length of the bathtub are also perfect for me. The slippers are very thick and durable; I always feel reluctant to throw them away when checking out. I even take the used slippers with me to wear on planes or high-speed trains.
**Hygiene**: The hygiene details are impeccable. The towels are soft and comfortable, with dense loops, making them very reassuring to use on the skin.
**Environment**: The hotel has its own garden, where you can enjoy a rare tranquility in the city of Shanghai during a morning stroll! Just one traffic light to the left of the hotel entrance, there are many small bars and restaurants! There are even two Michelin-starred restaurants! It's definitely worth a walk and exploring.
**Service**: I bought many things online, and they were delivered to the hotel in batches. The concierge meticulously recorded everything and delivered them to our room! When we left, the concierge helped put our luggage in the car trunk, opened and closed the doors, and politely bid us farewell.
**Welcome Package**: We received canned drinks and snacks, which was a nice surprise!

MM456984****My friends and I, each with our little ones, decided to travel to Shanghai. We booked this guesthouse as a last-minute alternative after cancelling our original hotel (because the beds were too small). We initially chose it simply because it was close by and we didn't want the hassle of moving again. After checking in, we discovered it truly embodied the essence of Shanghai. The house is located in a small, old-style apartment building in a lane, resembling an architectural masterpiece from the last century. Inside, the two bedrooms are spacious, there's an open kitchen, and the entire house has old wooden floors. The Ming and Qing dynasty furniture adds a touch of antique charm. It's also very convenient, with the subway station right across from the complex. Huaihai Road is just a short walk away, and there's also the architecturally distinctive Guotai Cinema – fantastic! The manager even extended our check-out time by two hours, and her prompt and thoughtful response was very considerate. A truly hidden gem of a guesthouse! [Thumbs up]

GGuest UserGetting around is super convenient; the subway station is just a two-minute walk across the road. The dorms are separated by gender, and the communal bathrooms are constantly being cleaned by an auntie. The showers even have a small dry area, which is really handy for putting your clothes. The room isn't huge but it's perfectly adequate. The soundproofing isn't the best, so if you're a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs, especially if your room is in the middle of the corridor. They even gave out cute little zongzi (rice dumpling) keychains for the Dragon Boat Festival! I'd definitely stay here again!

GGuest UserI really loved this hotel! The location is fantastic, very quiet nearby, and there are tons of great little restaurants to choose from. The room was clean and tidy, and the small lobby connected to the restaurant created such a cozy atmosphere that I almost didn't want to leave. The service was excellent too; they even upgraded my room and gave me a complimentary breakfast. I'll definitely be staying at Xiangyang Hotel again next time!

GGuest UserMy stay here was absolutely fantastic! The guesthouse owner was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. Communication with them was always a pleasure. They even provided complimentary bottled water upon arrival, which was a lovely touch and made me feel very cared for. When I accidentally left my room key inside the room during checkout, the owner promptly arranged for a locksmith to help me out. They handled the whole situation patiently and didn't charge any extra fees. They're truly a wonderful and honest person. The room itself was clean, tidy, quiet, and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. Overall, it offered excellent value for money. There were no hidden costs, and the service was truly sincere and reliable. My experience was perfect, and I highly recommend this guesthouse. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

GGuest UserI highly recommend Guisu B&B! It's a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, conveniently located near the subway, making it super easy to explore Jing'an Temple and Huaihai Road. The interior design is warm and inviting, full of natural light, and the cleanliness is impeccable, with all toiletries provided. The host is incredibly friendly and attentive, making the entire check-in process a breeze. The space is generous and doesn't feel cramped, creating a wonderful atmosphere. It was the perfect place to unwind after a long journey and the most satisfying accommodation during my trip to Shanghai.

NNichjosNice place to stay but there are a few things to be aware of. Like all places in China there is a registration system. We sent our passports to Andy who was able to do it for us. The neighbourhood feels very safe and has security at the front. All former mansions are subdivided into rooms which are then occupied by many people. As a result, you will share a front door and some of the corridor. Because of this, the rooms are rather close together which meant in the morning you would often hear people cooking, talking etc. and in evening you might hear a bit of snoring. All together it wasn’t bad and it felt more local.
The room itself was pretty well equipped and had two large areas for the upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed the projector and kitchen. The bathroom’s water pressure/shower head was a little weak and often got a little flooded as we were given disposable linen. The disposable bedsheets were fine but the towels were not really absorbent. The location was probably the nicest aspect. It was nice and uniquely shanghai unlike staying in the newer parts of town.
