"Been there 4 times since 2020. Excellent location, beautiful rooms BUT the owner (Dutch guy) is very unfriendly. Our last stay in Sept. 2025 he had a shouting match with his wife across the garden which was not pleasant. His wife has always welcomed us and gone the extra mile! Was going to stay there in November but after his abrupt mannerisms we have booked in elsewhere."

"This was a stopover en route for home. We had been upgraded by our host to a garden suite, which was a spacious room with heating and electric blanket, appreciated in the winter months. The location is ideal for a pleasant 5-minute walk to local restaurants. The gardens are lovely and well-kept, this would be even better staying in the summer months, I imagine. Breakfast - you pre-select either continental or english; we had english and it was well cooked."

"Just the one night here unfortunately on the way down to the Garden route but so much more than just a stopover and we wish we had been able to stay longer. We were made to feel so welcome by all the staff from the minute we arrived . We had been suffering with a stomach bug since leaving Cape Town so reluctantly declined what looked to be some fantastic dinner options. However we were offered a simple salmon trout dish with rice and vegetables that was perfect for our “delicate” condition. Likewise , whilst we had to temper our breakfasts options, it is not to be missed - you will not need lunch but you can of course return for the complimentary afternoon warm scones! The house and grounds are beautiful and our room was lovely. Our car was even washed before we left in the morning! Highly recommended"

We ate there both nights as why bother to go somewhere else when the food and wine was perfect. Swellendam is a pretty place to stop on your way through the garden route and a change from the coast"

"A curated experience through and through! From the moment we arrived at Bloomestate the owners welcomed us and made sure to assist with everything from evening dinner recommendations to reservations. The grounds are immaculate from the citrus orchards to the common area and poolside. The room was beautiful and private. With scented bath salts and bottled waters directly from the natural estate springs. And let’s talk about breakfast…made to order hot eggs and bacon with table service, home made jams and a selection of teas from around the globe. Hands down we would visit this estate again and highly recommend adding it to your itinerary."

"It was truly a wonderful and exciting trip to Cape Town and Elianthe was an overnight stop. The service was excellent, rooms were beautiful and very clean. Swimming pool was clean, everything about our stay was awesome. When we asked for places te eat the staff was very helpful and we had the most amazing dinner at Woodpeckers. The following morning we had a stunning breakfast with the most delicious houseblend coffee from Clocks Peak coffee in Swellendam. Will definitely stay AT Elianthe again. "
