Beach Hotels in Mauritius

The beach of Mao Ball really doesn't want to hold too high expectations. This is the third home in Mao Ball. We really liked the hotel: comfortable, cozy, quiet at night, first line, private clean beach with a beautiful view, which was cleaned every morning especially for the comfort of guests. The only thing to consider is that you definitely need to rent a car here, because taxis are expensive and take a long time to wait. But we rented a car, so everything was great. I played golf on the local course, and my wife and I also went to the spa, where Kevina and Sweta gave us a very good massage. There are a lot of small lizards on the territory, but this is a typical story for Mauritius, there are a number of insects that the staff actively fights, and at breakfast you can be bothered by rather impudent sparrows. But the hotel was so good that we did not pay attention to these little things. In general, the hotel is top. I recommend it. Despite the four stars in the hotel rating, it is much higher than many five-star Turkish hotels.

Compare to Lux Belle Mare and Lux Grand Baie, Lux le morne is a disappointment in terms of service level. The structure of the buildings look nostalgic but it’s well maintained. The level of hygiene seems to be high. I love the beach which has the best on the island. But it is a shame they couldn’t utilise this. If you imagine the other two lux hotels I mentioned above are for Waitrose and harrods sippers then this le morne hotel is for Tesco shoppers. They made mistakes in billing and quality of drinks is mediocre. I can do better at home.

The room was just so-so, and the bed sheets had stains. The marble floor hadn't been cleaned at all; when I wiped it with toilet paper, it was covered in dirt. The bathroom sink was spotted with something, like small pockmarks. The sofa on the balcony had a layer of yellow mud on it; definitely don't sit on it unless you lay down a towel first. However, the sunset was really beautiful when the weather was good.

Amazing stay at Salt of Palmar!!! Boutique, 16+ Hotel located on the east side of the island, on the first line. Great beach with amazing sunrises. Lots of sea activities are included with your stay. Quiet, spacious rooms. Great spa. Curated menu in the restaurant and opportunity to book a special dinner with a chef. Great wine and international cocktail selection. Professionaly trained staff and the management team lead by Mr. Med will make you stay exceptional

The hotel itself is quite good, a standard five-star property with excellent hardware and good service, located right by the sea. In terms of location, it's a bit far from the main attractions, and there aren't many shops or restaurants outside the hotel, so you're pretty much confined to the hotel premises. Every room is a sea-view room, and overall, the rooms are lovely. The front faces the ocean, and the back has a garden where many little yellow birds have built nests. The hotel has several swimming pools. Swimming in the sea is also an option, though the water was a bit chilly in the mornings. The beach isn't very fine, with some rocky areas, but it's still great for photos, and the sunsets are beautiful. The hotel beach offers complimentary paddleboards and other facilities. We also booked a free snorkeling trip that lasted over an hour, where a boat took us out to the reef. The captain and crew were very attentive, keeping a close eye on my husband, who isn't a strong swimmer. It felt like they were ready to jump in and save him at any moment, haha. I had a great time with some other guests (who were white) and saw many fish, although a lot of the coral has bleached. We stayed for three days, eating two meals a day at the hotel. The main restaurant maintained good quality, with rotating menus; one day featured Mauritian cuisine, and another was a seafood buffet, where we enjoyed unlimited sea urchin. There are two other restaurants as well. We booked the beachfront restaurant one evening, and while the sunset was stunning, the Western food was truly awful. We promptly canceled our reservation at the other Japanese restaurant and went back to the main dining hall. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this hotel; all the staff are enthusiastic, and the service is very attentive.

The atmosphere of the hotel is very good, warm and warm and many guests. But the room was really old, the door was painted on a wooden board, and the door card was demagnetized every day. Nice stay and helpful staff, but for one person at the reception who doesn't seem to know what hospitality means. Very clean and confortable room, good breakfast buffet, though dinner buffet is sometimes of lesser quality. The staff is overally very nice, I recommend to stay there if you have a rental car, or you prefer to stay and relax by the pool or beach.
