Antsotegi, what to say about it. Well, that it’s an absolute gem of a place to stay when visiting the Basque Country. Off the beaten track, and actually situated on the Camino de Santiago route. Beautifully located in gorgeous green scenery in the hilly countryside, it facilitates both Camino heroes and adventurous types, as well as couples looking for a romantic get away surrounded by tranquility and pure nature. What makes Antsotegi even better and what truly is an absolute selling point, is its amazing owners and staff. Super friendly and ready to help you in any way they can. From great tips as to where to go and what to do from Ashley. Great and pure friendliness and know how of local produce and products, attentive and skillful service by Jon, and honest, friendly and humorous attentiveness by Gomtzal, and the rest of the crew we haven’t mentioned. It just feels like you’re staying with best friends. Food is simple yet utterly delicious prepared with local produce, and most importantly with love. My wife and I have had an absolutely amazing time in Antsotegi, and would highly recommend this beautiful rough gem to anyone that’s looking for something different yet of superb quality. The hotel was well known and its strengths remained the location, comfort of beds, quality of towels and the bathroom in case it was in the room. I haven't enjoyed the meal in any of your options so I can't comment on it. As regards deficiencies, the structure of the rooms makes the conversations of neighbouring rooms heard and clearly perceived (a good tape solves it) The spa is obsolete and it would be good to update it. The hotel is very comfortable and would repeat it, but as I suggested earlier, a 4-star hotel is defined by detail attention.

We stayed four nights in a NYX Suite in the middle of August. This hotel has an excellent location at the entrance to the old Town. The Renfe train station to Madrid and Barcelona is about 6 minutes walking across the bridge right in front of the hotel. This bridge also takes you to the major shopping street of Bilbao as well. The Guggenheim is a pleasant 20 minute stroll along the river and around the corner you'll find the Plaza Barria with some of the best pinxto bars in the Basque country. The metro station that will take you right to the intermodal bus station is a short 2 minute walk away. The suite was compact with only a double bed, but the bathroom was roomy and the shower easily fit two. Storage was minimal, but there was a safe, mini fridge, iron and ironing board. The coffee maker was an imitation Nespresso, but the pods were Lavazza. The balcony had a fantastic 270 degree view of the old Town and the newer city across the river. A negative note: Almost every evening we came home to discover a new invasion of ants crossing our room, slipping under the door and parading down the hall.

Fabulously clean, cute and cutting edge accommodations. Reception was friendly, multi-lingual and efficient. This is a nugget hotel, so not a lot of thrill. The lobby was on the small side but inviting. There’s an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet one can purchase (I did not) two elevators take you right upstairs. The hallways are cheeky and sweet. The room was small but as a touristy traveler that was fine. I don’t want to be in a hotel room. I’m out exploring. The bed was very comfortable and the whole room was spotless. Toilet and shower are separate which is helpful if there are two in the room. Highly recommend this place.

The food was very good and tasted great. The waitress always took care of us and fulfilled all our wishes quickly and meticulous. The selection of food in the menu was a variation of mostly local food and nice deserts. Also included the option to get one of the drinks from the bar. We just tasted the coffee, which was great.

We had a very comfortable stay in Hotel Carlton. It’s my third time to stay there. The location is fantastic. The whole experience is special. The rooms are very spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room are very much appreciated. The little bar is nice for a nightcap after a night out. I’ll certainly stay again

Location is about 15 to 20 minutes from the center. I was a little worried about security as it was far from the center, but there was nothing in particular. It may be better not to be too late for a woman alone. The room was large and clean and easy to spend. Towels, hair dryers and hair body wash are provided. Since it is not separated as a shower room, I am prepared to be bishabisha in that area. There is a TV, but there is no refrigerator. The bed was too soft and not too hard and I was easy to sleep ◎ The response of the front desk was also good!

The spa is a wonderful and in a spectacular environment for a rural escape and disconnect from the city. Just 30 minutes from Bilbao. The quality of the meals and the staff treatment, from 10!

The room is compact. The location is very good, just by the river, within walking distance of the main attractions in the city. There are no vegetables for breakfast, mainly custard meat and cereal. There is no ironing board, laundry room, no disposable supplies. The gym is in the basement, very small and no windows. The elevator has ladder control, but it is not very sensitive.
