Chiayi County Hotels with Breakfast

Shifang Mountain and River is located at a small stop on the way to Alishan. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle bus stop. The scenery is pleasant, and the rooms are very clean and tidy. You can see clouds drifting by right from your window – absolutely stunning! The room's aroma diffuser had a lovely tea scent, which they also sell at the property. The restaurant is in a separate building. The hotel offers a hot pot dinner at an additional cost, with a wide variety of delicious food. Breakfast is an included buffet. The owner makes pour-over coffee on the first floor, and the coffee beans are also available for purchase. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended!

A guesthouse surrounded by tea fields. The views, facilities, service, and food were all excellent. The landscaping on the property is very well-maintained. The walk there from Fukuyama bus stop was an easy 30-minute downhill stroll. The next morning, the guesthouse staff drove me back. I walked to the observation deck, less than 10 minutes away, to watch the sunrise, which was also fantastic under clear skies. There was a tour group, but I only saw them at meal times, so it wasn't noisy and I had a comfortable stay. I'd love to visit again as a summer mountain retreat.

Staying at Dafeng Hotel on a trip to Alishan. The quad room with two large beds was very comfortable. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle stop, which is very convenient. Luggage storage is right next to the lobby. This is an area with a whole row of hotels. It's very easy to get to Alishan train station. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a chill and comfortable stay. The environment was great, quiet, and relaxing, while the owner was very friendly and helpful. The owner requested an additional TWD200 for my 5-year-old boy and kindly upgraded our room from 3 double beds to 4 double beds. The breakfast was comforting and tasty. They also provided stationery and coloring materials for kids to draw and paint, which was perfect for keeping my little one entertained. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. The owner also kindly explained the route to Alishan and even brought us to watch the sunrise, which made the experience even more memorable.

Our stay in the family room at Fenqihu Hotel truly exceeded expectations! The room was much more spacious than I imagined; we could spread out our luggage with plenty of room to spare, which is a huge plus for families traveling together. The beds were incredibly comfortable – I fell asleep instantly, getting that much-needed relaxation during a trip 😌. What I loved most was how clean the entire place was. There was no dampness or stuffy smell, which is quite rare and impressive for a mountain area. It was also very quiet at night, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. Waking up to a full mountain view outside the window, with super fresh air, felt like an instant recharge 🌄. The staff were also very friendly and approachable, patiently helping us with any questions we had. Plus, the location is incredibly convenient; it's just a few minutes' walk to the old street, making it super easy to enjoy local food and take photos. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for travelers looking to relax and conveniently explore Fenqihu. It's absolutely perfect for families, and I would definitely love to stay here again!

You can find it by going up the slope opposite the gray house, which is across from the East Xiding Bus Stop. However, as soon as I arrived, the neighbor's dog started barking. There was no staff when I got there; I had to call the owner. The neighbor's grandma helped out. After 8:30 PM, there was no running water, though there was still water for handwashing. Overall, it was clean. There's a restaurant (with hot pot) right across from the guesthouse, at the bus stop. They also offer pre-ordered lunchboxes (available for pickup at 11 AM the next day). Walking towards the elementary school, there are convenience stores and restaurants, which is handy. The landlady is very chatty. Fireflies can be seen nearby (see pictures). After rain in August and September, I even saw a super giant, perfect rainbow, and sometimes even a double rainbow. The guesthouse lobby entrance displays the daily sunrise and sunset times. There were groups of three to five flies at the entrance and in the lobby. The lobby has menus, poetry collections, tourist information, tea bags (they smell wonderful even without brewing, and the brewed tea is very layered), coffee grounds, and a kettle. The tables are made from old sewing machine bases. The shower gel was my favorite verbena scent. After eating in the lobby, I had to walk quite a distance to wash my hands, which was inconvenient. There was no hot water for handwashing in the kitchen. Every time someone walked by, the neighbor's dog would bark. **Dorm Room Experience:** I really liked the bed curtain material. The bed was very comfortable. The bamboo blinds and wooden ceiling were great. There were many storage cubbies and lockers (each cubby was assigned to a bed). But there were no actual lockers. And for some reason, even though we were in the same room and paid the same price, another bed didn't have a bed curtain, no power outlet by the bed, and no storage cubbies under the bed. It felt like differential treatment. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, the neighbor's dog would bark. Breakfast was very filling; the egg pancakes were already cut into pieces, which was thoughtful; the blueberries were very sweet; the mushrooms had a buttery aroma; the edamame was cold and seasoned like salted chicken. The coffee grounds were specially blended by the owner's friend and cannot be bought elsewhere. If guests weren't present during meals, the landlady would cover the food with tissue paper, but flies still got close. I suggest using a plate to seal the surface. **Double Room (with private bathroom):** The room was large, the bed was large, the bathtub was large, and it had mountain views. **Twin Room (shared bathroom):** Simple and sufficient.

The lady owner was super lovely and accommodating. She was very welcoming and let us drop our luggage before check-in and gave us lots of good suggestions on where to go, what to do in Fenqihu and Alishan areas. She also gave some advices on the sunrise and sunset spots. We stayed in 4-people family room which as perfect and comfortable. There are all the facilities we needed and the breakfast was also very healthy and delicious. Highly recommended if you are making a trip to Alishan!

The view from the room was absolutely stunning! It was also super convenient to walk to Xiashi Road, so no need to worry about parking. You can even park directly at the guesthouse and it's just a one-minute walk, plus you get to see the tea plantations. For dinner, we had a delicious hotpot with a light and tasty broth.

We stayed here for one night and the location was definitely a plus since it’s inside the forest area. The room was okay and had the basic essentials, although there was a noticeable old smell and it felt quite warm despite the cold weather outside. The duvet wasn’t properly flattened/prepared, and the pillow was only one and flat, which unfortunately gave me a stiff neck the next morning. The bathroom was nice and had a bathtub, with a dipper and basic essentials. The shower also has a water heater, which was great considering how cold Alishan can get. Overall, it’s not the most homely or cozy place, but if you’re looking for a decent place to stay in a good location, I’d still recommend it.

It seems impossible to find reasonably priced accommodation in the Alishan Scenic Area, which is why even ********* locals feel domestic tourism in Taiwan isn't worth the cost. The hotel provides basic facilities, and I didn't expect good soundproofing, so I have no complaints there. I saw many complaints in the comments section about the lack of a shower curtain, but the owner seems completely indifferent to guest feedback, not bothering to make even simple improvements. So the bathroom and toilet just get completely soaked. To be honest, Alishan isn't an absolute must-see, but the related tourism infrastructure and the hotel's value for money directly influence a traveler's final choice.
