Great
__WeChat228080****The hotel I stayed in during my time in Cologne was generally a decent, practical choice, with no major flaws, but also a few surprises. The location was convenient, about a five-minute walk from the nearby bus stop. Tourist attractions like Cologne Cathedral and the Old Town are easily accessible by public transportation or taxi. Small supermarkets and small eateries are nearby, making daily groceries and meals convenient. The room was of moderate size, spacious enough for a single occupancy but a bit cramped for a double. The furniture and furnishings showed some signs of use, but were generally clean and tidy, and the bedding was perfectly soft, ensuring a pleasant sleep. The bathroom had a nice, dry/wet area with a reliable hot water supply. The toiletries were basic, but those with skincare needs are advised to bring their own. Regarding service, the front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Check-in and check-out were both prompt and helpful. They patiently answered questions about directions to attractions, but they didn't proactively offer any extra touches (such as local recommendations or extended luggage storage). Breakfast is a simple buffet with basic items like bread, ham, eggs, coffee, and juice. The taste is quite satisfactory and can satisfy your hunger, but those who seek a richer meal may find it a bit monotonous. Overall, if you are looking for convenient travel in Cologne and a good value accommodation, this hotel meets basic needs and is suitable for travelers who value practicality over luxury.

Great
GGuest UserStayed as a couple at Club King Double room for 5 nights during the Amphi Festival.
Pros:
- Unbeatable location, walking distance to everything while not within the Old Town which is way too touristy. Five-minute walk from the train that takes you straight to the airport.
- Room 99% soundproof, very private and peaceful (stayed at the Club floor, 6/6).
- Amazing bed.
- Full-size working desk in the room.
- Daytime service very professional, helpful, and friendly.
- The Club Floor lounge has it's own very good breakfast buffet (included with the Club rooms at no extra cost - apart from the higher cost of the Club room itself - so you might skip paying extra for the regular breakfast at the restaurant). Also daytime tea with cake and an evening snack are served as well. The snack could become your legitimate dinner if you need it, as there are hot options and appetizers. Amazing view of the cathedral from the Lounge.
- The food was amazing.
Cons:
- The night shift staff is not at the same level as the day shift, so try to resolve your matters during the day.
- Some visible wear and tear in the room (not important to me, but might bother some who expect everything to be 100% at this price point).
Overall:
- Highly recommend, would stay again.
XXiaoxiaoyuanyuanThe facilities are showing their age, especially the bathroom. There's only a bathtub, and showering in it felt inconvenient and somewhat unsafe due to how slippery it was. Cleanliness was acceptable. The location is excellent, less than a 5-minute walk from the train station. The breakfast service was a bit uncomfortable; you couldn't serve yourself coffee, and staff would clear plates before we were finished eating, which made us feel rushed and quite uneasy. I suppose they might have thought this was attentive service.
GGuest UserThis is an old-school hotel; they even gave us a paper map at check-in. The hotel is located 1.5 km from Cologne Cathedral. The room was quite large, with a decor style from over a decade ago, but it's still well-maintained. It has air conditioning, which proved to be very important and beneficial as the weather started getting hot this week.

Very Good
GGuest UserThis hotel is very good. There's a supermarket across the street and the station is a 7-minute walk away, which is super convenient. It's a bit bigger and cleaner than the H+ room we stayed in before. The service is also good. The only regret is that the room doesn't come with water.
AAnonymous UserBoth the location and the design of the hotel building itself are top-notch!
The breakfast buffet is also great. Quality control needs to be carefully managed every day😔Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s average
Finally, regarding the facilities of the hotel, generally speaking, they are in line with the average level for this price range, but they still look a little bit old 😂
GGuest UserIt’s a lovely and convenient hotel. With everything located nearby, it allows visitors to easily get around the city and all the popular spots. It is especially just a short walk away from the new market and all the neighbouring restaurants, bars, and it is connected to the famous Cologne Cathedral and train stations. In a word, I am very satisfied with my three - day stay.

Good
GGuest UserGreat location. Clean and tidy room- worth the price.
However, had the most astonishing experience in my life with a male receptionist called Sahsa Grass.
Room check in time 15:00. I arrive around 14:20 (I'm yet to have a say in the DB schedule). The front door was closed. Ring the bell. A man opens the door and looks at me like ”wth do you want?”. No hello, no welcome and no smile.
Me: *smile brightly to compensate for his unenthusiastic welcome* Hi, I have a booking here.
Sasha: There are no bookings till 3.
Me: I know. That's fine. I can just wait in the waiting area. *smile*
Sasha: This is not a waiting place, THIS IS A HOTEL.
Me: Hotels have waiting areas (lobbies). *pointing at the lobby* what is that for then?
Sasha: it's for guests.
Me: what am I then?
Sasha: you're only a guest from 3pm.
* I was dumbfounded at this point. Is he actually being serious right now*
Sasha: I'm alone here, I have to go up and down. I can't let you wait inside.
Me: *dump my luggage on the landing infront of the door* I'll stay here then. *NB temperature outside over 35°C*
*Sasha shrugs and closes the door*
Around 5- 10 minutes later I ring the bell again and ask for a refund. There was absolutely no way I could stay in a place where I was treated this poorly.
Sasha: it's not possible. You are free to go anywhere, no one's stopping you. But no refund since it is your decision to leave.
Me: the only reason I'm leaving is because I'm not happy with your customer service!
*Sasha repeats some of the things he said previously. And raises his voice. I raise mine above his.*
Me: You don't get to speak to me that way. No one does.
*pull out my phone to record this incident. Tries to shut the door on my face. I keep my foot. He still pushes it against me- thus, officially physically assaulting.
A few minutes later another guest enters the hotel. I tell him what had just happened. He is shocked. Asks me to come in and speaks to Sasha on my behalf. Sasha repeats the same. The guest lets me wait in his room- note, I was parched and visibly drenched in sweat in the heat.
The next receptionist Jasmine takes over shortly afterwards calls in to inform my room is ready at around 2:45. She was profusely apologetic for her colleague's behaviour and escalates to the owner. NOTE: SASHA WAS ACTING LIKE THE OWNER but the owner is a lovely gentleman of Chinese ethnic origins. He comes down the following morning and profusely apologises for my experience. Offers a full refund, free breakfast and a bag of brownies. I only accepted the latter as not to hurt his feelings and tell him it's my dignity that was injured (these things can't compensate for that). He says Sasha has previous experience as a receptionist and he's surprised by his behaviour. If this were to recur he would be sacked. But now looking at previou reviews looks like I'm not the first.
Don't let this put you off though. I would have given a 5 out of 5 (exceeded my expectations for the price) if not for Sasha Grass (photo attached).
Leaving this note as no guest deserves a holiday ruined and no employer deserves a business ruined because of a sorry excuse of a man like this.
PPeterKTo start with the good points the location is very convenient near the Cathedral and train station and a busy shopping street with plenty of restaurants just at the corner but it was very quiet at night. Also the breakfast was very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. The main disadvantage is that the hotel seems very old so modern things like having outlets for charging in the room were very limited. Of course no air conditioning in summer is normal here but no fan was provided like at some other hotels, I assume because of the lack of outlets for power. The room is very small and has not been well maintained or updated but the bed was comfortable and the WiFi worked well. The tv has some international channels for news. For the price and location I would stay again but probably I would try somewhere else.

GGuest UserFirst impressions I'll have to be honest and say it wasn't great .
Then the more we got a feeling of the area & the room & its amenities we took a step back and realised it's not bad at all. It certainly isn't the Ritz, but you sometimes have to take a step back and accept for what the price we paid in a major city with a brilliant location. It's a very good deal. Room. The cleaner was very nice she came in every day for the basic jobs, comfortable bed, lovely, big pillows, hair dryer shower good pressure and comfortable for our size etc etc. We chose the breakfast which we knew it was going to be continental style, Ok for the 3 days but limited and same each morning. Muhammad, the general manager, is such a likeable guy. Everything we asked, he sorted.thanks, mate. The guys in the breakfast hall are all helpful & polite. Remember, those who are looking for a major hotel it's not that, but we see our trips around citys as just needing a base. we spend most of the days out once we've left the room.
So a refresh bed, shower, room, location, all fine. There are plenty of things to pick holes at, but be open-minded, and it's fine. Ian AnneMarie Uk.🇬🇧👍
