MM52048****The hotel is right by the beach, and it's only a 5-minute walk to the pier. You can buy tickets for the Underground River National Park and boat tours at the small hut next to the pier, so there's no need to book a guided tour. If you go to buy tickets and board the boat around 8 AM, you can save about 1000 pesos compared to a tour package. The hotel's pool and restaurant are very clean, and the front desk staff and room attendants are all warm and friendly. We'll definitely choose this hotel again next time we visit this area. When taking a taxi from Puerto Princesa, you can ask the doorman at your Puerto Princesa hotel; it should cost around 3500 pesos.

KKaliannaThe resort was on an isolated island. Took 20-min car ride from the airport and 45-min boat ride from the port to the island. Our room was supposed to be ocean view, just right behind the sunrise villas. Unfortunately, the trees have grown high & hardly can we see the ocean. So best to go to the beach and enjoy the sceneries there. Not worth paying extra, unless it's sunset villa. Breakfast was acceptable, but in-room dining service need improvement. Especially, the cleaning up part. The swimming pool is under maintenance and I thought seafood & sashimi would be good, but nope, which is a bit extra disappointing. However, the general experience was good since the staffs are very nice and polite. We received different types of local snacks daily and turned out the kitchen made Filipinos food better than international ones. For morning hiking to Eagle Point, it's not really worth it, unless you have a drone to have 360-degree view. Intended to rate 3.8/5, but I got to see the sea turtle so 4/5 ~
CChristine Cui cuiyu(YU)minThis overwater bungalow was incredibly comfortable and beautiful, located about a 15 to 20-minute boat ride from Semporna Port. It's an all-inclusive resort, with breakfast and dinner thoughtfully arranged. We missed lunch due to island hopping tours, but there was afternoon tea and snacks available, which was perfect after snorkeling. Dinner menus changed daily and were both delicious and plentiful. Although you could pay extra for additional seafood, the provided meals were excellent on their own. The first night featured steamed seafood, the second was a seafood hotpot, and the third was a barbecue. The hotel also organized daily snorkeling trips to fantastic spots. Our whole family had a truly wonderful vacation.
AAnonymous UserThis hotel is quiet and well-located outside Coron City, right by the mangroves, and surprisingly mosquito-free.
There's a magnificent pier with a bar, perfect for enjoying the sunsets in the late afternoon. From this pier, private island hopping cruises depart for Coron Island – a magical experience I highly recommend.
The rooms, bathrooms, and balconies are spacious.
There's a large pool, though the water was a bit cloudy. The main restaurant serves a breakfast buffet. The poolside bar/snack area offers excellent ice cream. There's also a pizzeria restaurant by the mangroves, plus a Japanese restaurant.
Evening entertainment is offered several times a week.
Airport transfers are available for 350 pesos per person. Transfers to Coron City or tuk-tuks are readily available right outside the hotel.
GGuest UserThis hotel was initially a nightmare. I booked 2 rooms through Trip for adults and the kids. Upon arrival, the hotel advised that one of the rooms had been cancelled and we only had one room. All my bookings were still showing in the Trip app so neither myself or Trip had cancelled anything. I contacted Trip and they were excellent and worked very hard, but unsuccessfully to get our room back...
It was absolutely peak season and the room had been given to someone else. We were able to book a room Westown 2 nights later so the kids ended up staying at the hotel and us adults, luckily were able to find another hotel for 2 nights and then moved back to Westown hotel. When this issue occurred, I felt we were treated incredibly poorly by the hotel. They made it clear... If you book through a third party booking agency, the issue is with you..not our problem... Considering most of their bookings are probably through third parties, this attitude is poor.
Once we moved back into the hotel for the remaining 3 days, the hotel facilities were good. Swimming pools were good. There was a cafe, couple of restaurants, and small gym.
Location was 10 mins on a tricycle into the centre of town and there were always tricycles available.
A shuttle was available to and from the airport.
Negatives were as follows:
- Hotel saying we cancelled one of our rooms even though we hadn't. Kids had to stay by themselves in the hotel.
- Hotel didn't care less about us because we made the booking through a 3rd party.
- Disappointing that probably 50% of the menu foods were not available in the Filipino restaurant while we were there...usual excuse of supplier issues was always given.
AAngelicaFrom the moment we left the port, our Matinloc experience already felt special. The boat ride was smooth, and the boatmen immediately assisted us with our luggage. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ms. Jam from FO/Reservations, who gave us a friendly tour and clear briefing. Even before the trip, Reservations Manager Ms. Jeannette had already been very responsive to my emails, making the planning stress-free.
Our VIP villa, perched on a cliff, offered an astounding view that raised the standard of our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and we appreciated the generous souvenirs and hygiene kits provided. The staff were consistently attentive and polite special thanks to FO Supervisor Ms. Jhona and their Korean General Manager for adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Highlights of our stay included the refreshing fresh fruit shakes, fun water activities, the amazing walking path lined with century-old trees, and of course, the delicious food (their pizza was a standout). The WiFi was surprisingly fast..even powered by Starlink at the port. We also appreciated the thoughtful gesture of staff recommending where to get beers in town since they don’t sell alcohol on-site.
Matinloc truly combines paradise-like views with genuine hospitality. Maraming salamat to the whole team for making this my best El Nido stay so far.. I would gladly return a hundred times over.
GGuest UserExcellent service we've received. The staff were all polite, friendly & very accommodating esp with my request. Beautiful view of bay & Coron town, ignore the shanty area coz it's the trip we were after & friendliness of people of Coron. Everyday cleaning/making up our room & everyday bottled water provided. Good selection of food for buffet breakfast & freshly cooked when we had a la carte due to low season/less guests which is much better than busy😆
GGuest UserThis is a bit of a special place. The hotel is right at its own private beach. It‘s very isolated from everything else which can be nice if you don‘t want to leave the hotel at all. We wanted to go to the town some evenings and that is a bit of a challenge. You first have to take a golf car (which only runs until 10pm) and then change into a tricycle. The tricycles won‘t go directly to the hotel because the last bit of the road is too steep and winded. The other option is to walk along the beach for 20 minutes instead of using the golf car for the last bit, which we did a couple of times. It‘s not too dangerous but there are stray dogs.
The food in the hotel restaurant was Italian and just ok, nothing amazing. The service was not great. Two women seem to know how to run a hotel but the rest of the staff were rather useless. They often seemed annoyed, even when we were just ordering food. We once asked about the zipline that is literally next door and they didn‘t know anything about it (price, time, how to get there). They organised a tour for us, which was great, but messed up the booking somehow so the tour guide thought we were only two people instead of four, which resulted in less food for lunch. And then they even charged us more for the tour.
Our room was fine. Clean and no bugs. Yes, you can hear everything but we didn‘t mind that. The room was only made up on request though.
The whole area is beautiful but there were a few things that annoyed us. So I wouldn‘t come back.
MMhel B.We had a wonderful time staying at SkyLodge Resort. Thank you for making our 3D2N stay in your hotel worth it! Amazing overlooking view of the mountains and island. It’s been a great experience, friendly and accommodating staffs, great breakfast buffet for 2 mornings, and a very convenient shuttle bus that can bring you anywhere you want to go. I will definitely recommend and come back when i visit Coron again.
