GGuest UserOne of the better (if not the best) hotel chains I’ve stayed at in Taiwan. I’ve visited Taiwan about 10 times and stayed here for 2 nights, and overall I was very satisfied with the experience.
They provide free bicycles (3 hours limit), which is useful for getting around Hualien. Breakfast has a good spread, and there are complimentary ice cream and drinks available in the lobby around the clock. We didn’t realise they also offer late-night supper from 7pm to 9pm, which was honestly as good as a proper dinner buffet, with a good mix of Western and Chinese dishes and even live entertainment.
The room was spacious and well maintained, with no hygiene concerns. Shower water pressure was good. Noise levels were generally fine, though louder sounds like furniture movement could occasionally be heard.
The hotel is conveniently located near a convenience store, restaurants, KTV, and a cinema, and it’s about a 10-minute walk from the station. You can also cycle to the night market within 15 minutes, making it super easy to get around the main area without getting a taxi.
Overall, a very good stay and very good value for money. While a gym would be nice, I would definitely consider staying at other branches on future trips.

GGuest UserReceived email from hotel staff (Juan) that they could arrange pick-up service for us if we are arriving via Hualien Train Station. They provide free transfer back to Hualien train station as well after check-out. Grateful for the shuttle service otherwise I would need to take a taxi. By going the extra mile, they offered to send my mom and myself to the bus stop nearby for going to xincheng old street. Every staff member is friendly and very helpful. Seaview room is excellent and we enjoyed the sound of the waves from our bed! Room is clean and brightly illuminated. Breakfast variety is good. They have bicycle for hotel guests too! There’s a convenience store (Family Mart) nearby, few restaurants too, but closed on Tuesday mostly. Overall I had a great stay and will definitely return if I come to Hualien again.

GGuest UserThe location is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk directly across from the station. There are also plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so you have lots of dining options. The hostel lobby is really well-decorated, and there's free coffee and milk tea available, which was perfect for relaxing while waiting to check-in before 3 PM. The room was a four-person dorm with a private bathroom, and my stay was very pleasant. They offer free breakfast, but the selection is a bit limited – mainly just bread with different jams and ham. I had a wonderful time in Hualien! I hope to come back here again someday.

JJoe Nathanael ChowA Scenic Stay with a Convenient Catch
My stay at Hotelday Hualien was a bit of a mixed bag. It has some genuinely charming touches and a great view, but its location and certain amenities require some adjustment.
Location & Transportation: The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the Hualien Train Station, which is fantastic if you're arriving by rail. However, I soon realized that the train station is not the city center. The main downtown area is a significant distance away—about a 40-minute walk. This means you'll either need to plan for long walks or rely on taxis and buses to get to the main dining and night market areas. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's something to be aware of.
The Room: The room itself was a highlight. It was spacious and comfortable, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring. The best feature was the large window that faced the train station, with a stunning backdrop of the mountains. It was incredibly scenic and made the room feel bright and open. While the room was comfortable, I did notice that the overall design and some of the furniture felt a bit dated. It's clean and functional, but don't expect a super modern aesthetic.
Amenities & Service: This is where the experience was a bit uneven. The gym was quite disappointing. It only had a stationary bicycle and a treadmill. There were no weights, no multi-gym, nothing for anyone hoping for even a basic strength workout. It felt more like an afterthought than a proper facility.
On the other hand, the service had some truly thoughtful highlights. When we asked for ice, the hotel staff kindly delivered some to our room, which was a nice touch.
The Special Touch: The most memorable part of the stay was a small, heartwarming gesture. The hotel provided us with complimentary postcards. The unique part? They offered to mail them for us, but not right away. They will send them exactly one year later. It's a lovely idea—a little time capsule from your trip that arrives as a surprise in the future.
Overall: Hotelday Hualien offers spacious, comfortable rooms with beautiful mountain views, and its proximity to the train station is a plus for travelers. The thoughtful service, like the ice delivery and the ”postcard to your future self” program, adds a warm, personal touch. However, the distance from the city center and the very basic gym are drawbacks. It's a solid choice for a comfortable night's sleep near the station, especially if you appreciate sentimental gestures, but be prepared for the travel time to the main attractions.

NNa塔莎The main reason for wanting to experience a ”capsule” hotel was to check it out. My elementary school kids loved it, running around in the bunk beds. The single beds were actually quite large and very new. The room was well-planned and detailed; each room had its own charging port, a small light, a cabinet, and even toiletries! The shared bathroom was very clean. The kitchen was accessible on the first floor, so we went to Qixingtan to buy fish to fry at night – it was fantastic! If you arrive at the hotel early, you can ride bicycles and walk to the beach, where there's a heated swimming pool! In the morning, we played cards in the common area on the first floor while listening to music. 👍
JJeff KellOne of the best parts of staying at Charming City Hotel Hualien was the incredible staff. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful from check-in to check-out. They went out of their way to answer questions and make sure we had a great stay. The hotel itself was comfortable and in a convenient location, but the friendly service is what really made the experience memorable.

HHAO YUStayed two days in a quad room.
This was my third stay.
The room was very clean, and the front desk staff was very friendly. If there's no parking available, they'll even move their company car and let you park.
It's across the street from 7-Eleven, and there's also a TP-Link nearby. Zhongmei Street has many delicious restaurants, so it's quite convenient.
If I had to find a negative, it would be:
The rooftop pool is quite small. Even with four people in it, it's usually full. It's too hot during the day and only open until around 9 PM.
The breakfast on the first floor has a good selection of special dishes, but for some reason the air conditioning isn't cooling enough, so the food is a bit warm.
Overall, it's quite good.

GGuest UserOverall a good experience (except one thing - see in the bottom). The location is somewhat central and on the walking promenade, but not very close to the railway station or the waterfront. About 25-35 min walk to the railway station but still okay. About 15 min to the waterfront.
Food options: there are a couple of local restaurants right near across from the promenade, including a noodle shop, a tempura donburi and a fried seafood place - all along the promenade. There's also a PX Mart not too far away, about 5 min walk.
The rooms are spacious and clean, very new renovation (as of 2025, seems like 2023-2024), no fridge in the room (on the first floor only), but there's a kettle. The bed was somewhat stiff but okay.
Overall felt like great value for the location and the quality, and especially the room size.
The only drawback - Easy to fix - was the towels. There was no proper size bathroom towels on my stay in May 2025. The small towels are rather insuficcient for showering.

GGuest UserThis hostel is absolutely fantastic! It's about a five to six-minute walk from Hualien Station. The beds and towels are very clean, and the bathroom is spacious with a large mirror. You can even enjoy a view of the mountain city from the room. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic, and they offer free bicycle rentals. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit!

DDeeKwokA nice boutique hotel -- locations not bad with a mall across the street, and Family Mart + 7-11 at the other side of the junction.
Gentle reminder to bring own bath towels as these are not provided by the hotel.
View from the room is not too bad :)
