Osaka Hostels

Absolutely incredible experience. The public bath and amenities was a wonder after a long day of sightseeing. The bed was comfortable and spacious, all areas were clean. The staff were impossible to fault as they were polite and thoughtful on every opportunity. For the price of a hostel room this is service for a higher end hotel.

The accommodation was incredibly clean and well-maintained, which I really appreciated. I frequently saw staff members cleaning throughout the day. The toilets, showers, sleeping areas, and locker spaces were all spotless. It's close to Namba Station Exit 25, but I'd recommend taking the escalator at Exit 24 and walking a bit further. Exit 25 has narrow stairs, making it difficult to carry luggage up and down. The location is great for shopping, being close to the famous Glico Man and roughly halfway between Nankai Namba Station and Shinsaibashi Station. There were three minor downsides: Firstly, the Wi-Fi connection was unreliable. Secondly, the sleeping area felt quite sunken, almost as if I was feeling the floor beneath. Thirdly, although the reception is on the 5th floor, the sleeping area is women-only. However, when I stepped out, there were men also present in the common lounge area.

The environment is comfortable, and being able to soak in the hot springs at a capsule hotel is fantastic! The location is also excellent, just 50 meters straight from the subway 🚇, a 2-minute walk. It's a 5-minute walk to catch the Nankai Line to Kansai Airport or Mount Koya. The privacy is great, but the soundproofing is poor. During my three-night stay, it really depended on luck. The worst was the night of April 6th-7th (my second night). My neighbor was packing their suitcase from 11 PM to 12:30 AM – **incredibly loud**! It woke me up, and then other roommates left at 2:30 AM. The other two nights were okay. Despite all this, I'm still willing to give it an overall score of 4.8 and would stay here again next time.

This is a great hostel! The front desk service was very welcoming and enthusiastic. There's a common area on the second floor where you can work, relax, or grab a bite to eat. Plus, there's free drinking water! The bed was very comfortable, and most of the guests were considerate and didn't make a lot of noise. Showering was also convenient, with a hot spring bath and showers on the sixth floor. There's a 7-Eleven right downstairs, which is super handy for buying things, and it's right next to Dotonbori's neon signs. All in all, it's a fantastic hostel!

I ended my stay early for a couple of reasons. One; the mattress in my pod was too short and my feet hung off the and. I’m nearly 6 foot. Also, the guy in the pod next to me was snoring very, very loudly all night. Sue the manager kindly let me switch to another pod but I was still uncomfortable so she allowed me to check out early. Also, the place is very cramped and cluttered. Stuff everywhere. It just didn’t suit me. But Sue was unbelievably helpful, kind and understanding.

This was my first time staying in a capsule hotel, and I was really impressed! If you opt for a slightly more premium room, it honestly feels pretty similar to a standard hotel. The location is incredibly convenient; you're in the tourist area within a 5-minute walk. Plus, the hotel has excellent facilities, including a restaurant, massage services, and a lounge. I'll definitely choose this place again when I'm traveling alone for work next time.

What I like about Jakotel is the location and modern facilities. It is located near Dotonbori and super near Kuromon market (though avoid eating there. It’s a tourist trap with super expensive and not so good food). As mentioned by others, though it says Namba but the nearest station is Nipponbashi. Bed and duvet is comfortable and facilities are kept clean. What I didn’t like is that the shower room is on the first floor for everyone (a tad inconvenient). But since I knew about it from past review, I brought a waterproof toiletries bag. Toilets are on each floor - only 1 per floor. Though there are only 2 shower room, I really didn’t have to wait at all even though the hostel is fairly full. However, since the door to the shower room is not closed, you have to dress inside the shower. The wash basin area is really for just that, washing hands or putting on make up. The other thing that could be improved is communication. There is no way to communicate with the hostel. They don’t reply to chat online and calling them is also not helpful. It’s quite concerning when you want to verify booking, confirm check in details or request for top/bottom bunk. Email for check in came 5 days before check in. Other than the regular cleaners around, there is no other staff. The cleaners are mostly Vietnamese and speak very little English but they do try to help (albeit the language barrier). Check in and check out is automated.

This one just beats all my other stays in Japan, it was seriously that good. The location is near Umeda Station, a super quick three-minute walk, and it was so easy to find amazing local cuisine nearby. The public bath is the absolute MVP here. I was totally not expecting someone with a tattoo on the back like me to be allowed in, but it was fine. My Japanese friend even said, ”Your public bath is way too good to be the one of a hotel, it should be a private public bath.” The quality is superb, and the amenities are fully equipped with everything you have in your own bathroom: hair spray, shampoo, hair conditioner, sponge, razor, nail clipper, nourishing cream, toothbrush, toothpaste and woww a lot. You put heart in every detail. It was my first experience with a Japanese public bath, and it was the best. The staff are super friendly but still uphold guests’ privacy. Having a lot of guests, it was surprisingly enough to sleep. Just one quick recommendation: The hostel requires a daily check-in even when you book consecutive days. For us, it was no problem sorting out and communicating with staffs. But some foreign guests seemed a bit confused by the process. If they could clarify that for non-Japanese speakers better, the place would be beyond perfect! Thanks for the excellent experience!

The room facilities were great, providing slippers and toiletries, and the bed offered excellent privacy. The location was also fantastic, within walking distance of a bustling commercial area. The noise under the railway tracks was really loud; I could still hear it even with earplugs. But maybe it was the sake I drank that night, because I actually slept very well (only to be woken up again at 5 AM by a cargo train 😂).

I chose this one close to the venue to go to the Expo. It was close to Osaka Port Station, and I was able to walk without difficulty even with my luggage (６ years old). It was my first time to use an unmanned accommodation, so I was very worried about whether I could enter the building, check in, and enter the room well, but I was relieved because even I, an analog, was able to do it smoothly. I printed out the passkey and QR code necessary for input so that my smartphone could get sick, so I didn't have to cover it. The building is kept very clean overall, including the rooms. There was no particular problem if you didn't care about the details such as the unit bath and the drainage ditch of the wash basin. I was very happy to be able to wash because there are several washing machines and dryers (and detergents are also available!) that can be used for free in the laundry room. And above all, the cospa is good! Easy to go to the Expo and sleep soundly at this price! It was very helpful. By the way, it was in the 3000 yen range by taxi from the Expo West Gate to the hotel. It is close to Mt. TENPO, so I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity. And! The nearby Korean restaurant was very delicious!
