"It's cheap, clean, and in a good location. The reception staff were also very polite. However, the elevator stops on the stair landing, which might be inconvenient for people with heavy luggage. Also, the walls are thin, so you can hear voices from the hallway. There are plenty of bath towels, but you'll need to bring your own shampoo and body wash."

"Very disappointing experience. We arrived at the hotel at around 12:45 with our family and an exhausted child and asked whether it might be possible to access our room a little earlier if it was available. We fully understand that the official check-in time is 3:00 PM. However, the hotel knew that we had been sitting in the lobby waiting for almost two hours with a very tired child, yet no effort seemed to be made to prioritise our room or find any solution for us. What made the situation particularly disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility or consideration. We were not demanding something unreasonable; we were simply asking whether, given the circumstances, the room could be made available slightly earlier. We were also going to check out very early in the morning, meaning that we would not even benefit from the official check-out time until 12:00 noon. For a hotel of this standard, I expected a much more welcoming and customer-oriented approach. Small gestures and a little flexibility can make a significant difference to a guest’s experience, particularly for a family travelling with a tired child. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled left us feeling that there was very little interest in helping us or making our arrival more comfortable. On top of that the room wasn't fully clean. I insert a photo."

"This place was honestly a solid find. The room was super comfortable and it was clean. The lobby has this really nice, open feel with great interior design, so just hanging out there for a few minutes was a vibe. And the views outside the hotel are lovely, especially around sunset. There's a train station across the river, and a supermarket just a 10-minute walk away. Super convenient for grabbing snacks, drinks, or anything you forgot to pack. Overall, it's a chill, no-drama stay. Comfy, clean, nice views, and practical. Would definitely come back."

"The price is very convenient, especially considering the central location and if you are traveling solo. The structure is well organized and functional. I appreciated the bathroom concept - even though it’s shared, you have your own individual space, which gives you privacy and comfort. I stayed for 6 nights and always found the bathrooms to be very clean. It was also surprisingly quiet. I was able to sleep well every night. For more sensitive sleepers, they even provide earplugs. Overall, a good option if you’re looking for an affordable, clean, and well structured place to stay in Berlin."

"Location is excellent and hotel is modern with good amenities. But their staff service isn't very friendly and sounded impatient. This hotel doesn't clean your room everyday, and they mentioned it's only every three days. When we reminded them on the designated day, they said it's automatic on their schedule. But when we returned to our room end of day, it wasn't cleaned. The next day they came to clean and on the day we are checking out, their housekeeping staff came to asked if we want to clean. So, I don't think they have a good system of tracking."

"Where to begin? First off, the bed system is very clever; we were comfortable. However, the room is small, the toilet is small, the bathroom is small, and there's no fridge. But thankfully, they have luggage storage. Our room was quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view of the garden. Lidl was very close by, and both the A and U metro lines were nearby. What more can I say? The price is reasonable…"

"We absolutely loved our stay at this apartment. The space is impressively large, impeccably clean, and comes fully equipped with everything you could possibly need — from a well-stocked kitchen to comfortable, thoughtfully arranged living areas. Nothing felt missing or improvised; you could tell great care went into making it a complete and functional home. The location is simply unbeatable. Centrally situated yet tucked away in a wonderfully quiet neighborhood, you get the best of both worlds: easy access to shops, restaurants, and public transport, without any of the noise or chaos you’d expect from a central address. We traveled with our young children and it was an ideal setup for a family. The apartment offers plenty of room for kids to move around safely, and the calm surroundings meant peaceful evenings and restful nights — something every parent traveling with little ones will truly appreciate. Whether you’re visiting as a couple, a group of friends, or a family with small children, this apartment ticks every single box. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a spacious, well-located, and comfortable stay. A true 5-star experience from start to finish."

Choosing the DoubleTree by Hilton is always a good decision. The hotel is perfectly situated right on Kurfürstendamm, with a large Asian supermarket nearby, plenty of restaurants, and within walking distance to both metro and train stations. There's complimentary water refill available on every floor, and the bedding in the rooms is excellent. My only minor suggestion would be for a wider variety at breakfast.

The room has excellent natural light, and the location is fantastic. The service attitude is also top-notch. I'll definitely choose to stay at SANA again when I come back to Berlin! It's about a five-minute walk to the subway station, and it's very quiet at night. The in-room coffee machine is also super good.

The hotel was beautifully decorated and in a great location. We stayed there for 3 nights over New Year's Eve. It must be even more beautiful in the summer. The staff are always available and address any issues promptly. It's also really cool that each elevator plays different music. I would recommend it to everyone.

The Circus Hotel

9.2/10
Great

We recently stayed at The Circus Hotel in Berlin, taking two rooms for a short family trip. The experience was, in many respects, excellent. The location is ideal—central, with easy access to public transport and within walking distance of a huge variety of restaurants and shops. Service throughout was truly commendable. Staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful at every turn. The hotel bar is a genuine highlight—stylish, welcoming, and well-stocked. We especially appreciated the honesty bar and terrace upstairs, which made for a beautiful, relaxed afternoon during our stay. Breakfast was another strong point, offering a good variety of quality options in a comfortable setting. The rooms themselves are well-sized, clean, and nicely appointed. However, there’s a major issue that any traveller should be aware of: there is no real air conditioning. What’s provided is what I would describe as a comfort cooling system—more symbolic than functional. During our stay, temperatures hovered around 25 °C during the day and 18 °C at night, yet the rooms remained unpleasantly warm. Both rooms had fans, and the windows had to be opened to let in any real cool air. It’s quite clear that the hotel expects guests to rely on the fans, which is not acceptable given the climate realities of Berlin summers. This significantly affected our comfort and sleep. For travel between late May and early October, I would strongly caution against booking unless you’re completely indifferent to room temperature. It’s unfortunate, because in almost every other respect, The Circus Hotel is a real gem. I genuinely wanted to love it, and in cooler months, I very likely would. But the absence of proper climate control is a deal-breaker in warmer weather, and it’s clear the hotel is aware of the issue—hence the fans in every room. Pros: • Excellent location • Superb service • Great breakfast • Fantastic bar and terrace • Generous room size Cons: • No air conditioning—only a weak cooling system and fans • Rooms become uncomfortably warm even in moderate summer temperatures Conclusion: A brilliant hotel during cooler seasons. But for summer stays, particularly with children or light sleepers, the lack of proper climate control unfortunately outweighs the many positives.

Perfectly located — within easy walking distance to most major sights in Mitte like the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Philharmonic, and Checkpoint Charlie. For places a bit further out, there’s a train station right in front of the hotel, which makes getting around effortless. There’s even a dm grocery store just a minute’s walk away, which was super convenient. The room was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped, with a full set of amenities provided from the start — something surprisingly rare in Europe. Overall, a very comfortable and well-thought-out stay. Highly recommend!

Let's start with the positives: The location is excellent, right next to the U2 subway station and very close to the U6. If you have the Berlin WelcomeCard, getting around by subway and bus is super convenient and saves you a lot of walking. There's a Rewe supermarket across the street with a great selection of food, and their salad bar and hot food counter are both excellent. Now for the negatives: The staff were arrogant and rude. I waited in line to check in for almost 20 minutes when a white man just walked up and stood next to the queue, not bothering to line up. After the person in front of me finished, I walked up to the front desk with him. He said the balding male staff member at the desk had called him over. I told the male receptionist that everyone was queuing and should be served in order, but he insisted he had called that specific white man. At this point, another front desk was free, so I didn't argue and moved to that one. This is where it got even more interesting. When I tried to pay the deposit in cash, the female receptionist said they don't accept cash. Isn't it illegal in any country to refuse legal tender? And who says everyone has a credit card? I didn't want any trouble, so I pulled out my credit card, but for some reason, it wouldn't go through. Finally, this female receptionist said her colleague could accept cash, and indeed, the colleague came over and took the money. But if I hadn't asked, they wouldn't have even given me a receipt. For a hotel costing over 2,000 euros a night, they don't provide bottled water unless you're a Hilton Silver member or higher. The coffee is also terrible instant coffee, the worst among the four hotels I stayed at on this Europe trip. The facilities are old but reasonably well-maintained. In short, besides the location, there are no redeeming qualities.

The room was super clean. The hotel is centrally located. Walking distance from a shopping mall and the train station. We tried ordering room service but we didn’t have a way to do it and when we called reception they basically told us to just look in the room for the menu. We only had a breakfast one. Other than that, everything else was awesome.

This is a very big hostel with hundreds of beds, though it did not feel cramped or loud. I had a quiet stay.   I stayed for 2 nights in a mixed dorm with three bunk beds and en-suite. The toilet and shower are separate which makes use easier. Hanson’s and shower gel is included, as is a hairdryer.   The room is spacious with tables and seating areas, this is also of use to those who on the top bunk who cannot sit on their bed as easily.  There is a mirror though a lack of hooks being only a hook and couple of hangers. The bed is of a metal frame and thus I was able to apply my travel straps and hooks to create places to hand my coat and bag. There is a locker big enough to take hand luggage sized bag (own lock needed).  The bed has a usb port for charging and a slot into which a phone will fit, though no individual light. The room has two lights and it is possible to turn on only one; the other people in my room came in and out at unsociable hours though we’re all respectful being quiet and also putting in the main light.   The mattress and pillow are comfy enough, you need to collect linen and make the bed yourself.  Everything was clean.  Reception is 24 hours though checking us via one of the 4 automated screens. It is through the machines that you do check in and pay tourist tax and the machine prints paper with your allocated room and bed number. You even activate the room card yourself. There is a sign in the desk with a map of blocks with room numbers in each one. That is all the welcome that you get; there is no explanation related to hostel layout or facilities. I had to ask in which direction to go to get to my block, the receptionist gave my directions and once I got to the room and found no bedding on the bed so went back to reception. The check in computer screen states that bed linen is provided free of charge and towels can be paid for at reception. The receptionist did not give me any bedding nor point to where to where to pick it up some thus I assumed the linen would be laid on the bed as in other hostels. The next day a person arriving in the room asked where he gets bed linen, he also did not get given any bedding even when talking with the receptionist. I do find it odd that you are expected to ask for the bedding: as this is the case I recommend updating the wording on the computer screen as it is ambiguous and gives the impression you only need to ask at reception if needing a towel.  There is a guest kitchen which has basic equipment: fridge, sink, microwave, 2 hot plates, 2 frying pans, 1 saucepan, some plates, bowls and some cutlery. There was one mug in which I made a cup of tea by heating water in the microwave. I recommend a kettle to boil water. The kitchen is sufficient for simple meals, making breakfast and sandwiches. I did not try the hostel breakfast.  There is one common area near reception with a bar and possibility to purchase food. Vending machines there. WiFi reliable. The common room can feel cramped when groups are there. There is good security as all entrance doors and lifts use card access. To access the guest kitchen ask at reception and they update your card.  The location is very good being 5 min walk from Ostkreuz train station. It is a direct line to Messe Nord where the bus station and FlixBus stop is. Easy to get public transportation into the cities. There are many shops, supermarkets and eating places nearby. Vegan kebab shop directly opposite.  Good value for money. I had a comfortable stay with no difficulties and I would stay again.

Everything was great! The location is convenient — you can quickly get to any metro station by tram. There is an option to borrow dishes and everything you need for a deposit, which is later returned. It’s clean and comfortable. The only downside is that there are no air conditioners in the rooms.
