Kyoto Hotels with Kitchens

"Although it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below. Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks. Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly). Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion."

"I forgot to take pictures of the room, but it looks exactly like the product photos. We had a very comfortable May Day holiday. The hotel's location is great, not far from Kyoto Station, but without the noise of being right next to the station. The decor and facilities are very new. It offers excellent value for money. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day. There's a Chinese-speaking gentleman at the front desk who provided excellent service and explained everything thoroughly. The breakfast was rich and varied, but there was a queue, so it's best to allow extra time for waiting."

"A decent hostel with an excellent location near Gion in NE Kyoto, and very near to a station with direct trains to Osaka. The room was OK in size but very bare, only a double bed and tiny shelves for nightstands. It was a shame as you could easily fit a table/ chairs/ small wardrobe in here which would make it much easier for storing things instead of on the floor! Shared bathroom was OK, and only one shared shower for our floor, thankfully it was always free when we needed it. It was quite expensive for what it was so slightly disappointing, but I guess Kytoto is now a very expensive city to stay in."

"So its very near the temples and attractions so thats nice. Also away from the kyoto station so consider that if youre also into that. The hostel allowed me to leave my bag before and after checkout so thats perfect. It is also clean and well maintained, though toilet locks can be a bit tricky. They also have a cafe below, then a place to hangout with people and strangers. Have small kitchen with everything in it. They dont have free rental towel so heres that but its fine. Overall i will recommend this to my friends."

"The hotel is decent overall. The rooms are small, but that’s pretty normal for Japan. Unfortunately, the sound of insulation is poor, you literally can hear everything happening in the hallway and even the neighbors upstairs. The bathroom ventilation is also extremely loud, and since you can hear it through the wall from the room, it gets quite annoying at night. At the same time, the ventilation in the room itself is not very good, so it often feels stuffy. The “city view” is basically just a questionable-looking building across the street. The drink vending machine was broken as well, although at least there was water available. Honestly, this feels more like a 3-star hotel than a 4-star one. On the positive side, there was a very pleasant Russian-speaking staff member at the front desk — Kirill!"

"Cute place to stay in a spacious mixed dorm. The dorm was well designed with lockers and lots of small shelves next to the bed plus a sink in the room. Bed was a little hard but not terrible. Found the self check-in process very convenient and clearly explained, you have to pay city tax and any extra charges separately before check-out, which you can do online with a qr code or cash if you have the exact amount. Nice to experience a more traditional building in Kyoto. The free rice porridge and teas and coffee was a great bonus. Plenty of convenience shops nearby and right near Kyoto Station. Overall a really relaxing and cosy place to stay!"

"The service from Manager Liu and Xiao Liu was very thoughtful. Being Chinese, communication was very easy. They provided complimentary clear umbrellas and trash bags, which was a nice touch. The room was quite spacious; we could open two suitcases. The cleanliness could be improved, though. The provided cutlery, cookware, and cutting board weren't clean; there were oily residues from previous cooking. There were also hairs on the bathroom wall. I'd suggest they replace the hairdryer with one that has a stronger airflow. The bathroom's heater/dryer unit had a drying function with a hanging rod, which was excellent – clothes dried overnight. The kitchen's range hood was very powerful; there was no smoky smell when we grilled. The location is great. It's just one subway stop to Shijo, which is more convenient than my previous stay in Karasuma. There's also a Life supermarket two bus stops away, and plenty of dining options downstairs."

"I really liked the hotel. The room was decorated in a traditional Japanese style. Shops, transportation, and attractions were all within walking distance. It was quiet, clean, and there was always hot water. A nice bonus was the breakfast with toast, butter, jam, and fruit. I was very pleased. I recommend it!"

"Advantages: The room was clean and spacious, the hotel is beautiful. Great view from the window! The room had a washing machine, refrigerator, kettle, microwave, and humidifier — everything worked well. Disadvantages: Over the two-day stay, I was only provided with two small bottles of water— each bottle was about 300 ml. You have to go down to the lobby to get tea bags yourself. Coffee is only available from the coffee machine in the lobby, and the coffee itself is tasteless—I tried espresso and latte. I didn't like the taste. I didn't really like the hotel's location - it was right in the middle of the crowds. Conclusion: the hotel fee was exaggerated and there were not enough services for this."
