"Arrived at the hotel to find there was no running water or air conditioning which is understandable given Zanzibars intermittent electricity - particularly given it was new years. Except service was terrible - had to ask several times for water when our room was delayed. Front staff never once smiled or interacted at us, scoffed at our requests for transportation booking. Showers didn’t get hot, poor flow, and shower head was broken so the water went everywhere. There was hair everywhere in the toilet and the ‘cleaned’ towels had dirty sticky tap over them. We understand new years is the busiest time of the year so things may be different at other times - but given our current experience we wouldn’t book again."

"Here's a well-presented place, surrounded by greenery, with very young receptionists. We should stop here, at the entrance, at the first impression, because what can happen can truly ruin your stay. Let's start with the most serious issue, the one for which I strongly condemn this hotel: the incompetent manager, who wakes up tourists at night (it happened to several people on the same night, including me) with different excuses for each room he knocks on, to retrieve his luggage from under the bed. He keeps a lot of it, some heavy and locked, others half-broken, all under the bed (which is made of brick, so to uncover the luggage you have to lift the mattress; otherwise, it would be impossible to notice). And the same goes for every room. There would (perhaps) be nothing wrong if he didn't dream of waking you up when you're already asleep, because it's midnight and in Nungwi, after a dinner at the restaurant, there's nothing else to do in the evening. This episode left me with a sense of anguish and insecurity, immediately reminding me of the fact that there's no surveillance here, the gate is permanently open because it's broken, and we're inside the village, so potentially anyone can come in and knock, for example. Everything else is spotty: the water (don't imagine a shower that washes away the salt; maybe you'll sleep a night with that sea salt, and the next morning, if you don't report the water still being out, you can leave with that salt); communication due to the staff's modest or very shy English, which can lead to misunderstandings; the Wi-Fi connection, practically nonexistent (jokingly, this hotel boasts a fast connection!). And then the breakfast, which features eggs every morning, is a real test for your cholesterol and for anyone who, being vegan, lands here. If rest is a priority for you (or the connection, or whatever...), then forget about Zanzigo. Or consider it a suggestion: "go" away from here!"
