SmellissaThis was a treat as it’s a birthday celebration but it soon turned into a series of unfortunate events.
The service and staff are amazing but their rooms have a serious bug problem.
We woke up in the middle of the night to find our pillows covered with winged bugs that looked like ants, they were in the pillow and on the pillow, upon inspection there were more on the headboard and on the sofa by the window. We started to also notice dust piles on the floor in the room too, so we suspect they are eating at the wood.
It was pretty alarming to find and have bugs crawling on your bed and we soon found out it was on our bags too.
A staff member was quick to come to our room to inspect but the main team have already gone home. They allowed us to switch rooms but it looks like the problem is in the other room too. By the bed, more dust piles and on the sofa more bugs.
It’s midnight so we sprayed the bed with bug spray and hope no more will crawl on us. As well as this their sink was blocked.
We are both adventurous people, slept in the rainforest before, camped etc so we are not scared of bugs but when these could be termites or carpenter ants, our biggest worry is bringing them home. It’s not a nice situation for them either given their buildings are 200 years old.
The next morning comes and the situation was not handled like a luxury hotel would. No one came to speak to us about it and no apology until I mentioned it at reception. The room they moved us to was also a smaller one so we effectively paid for a bigger room that we couldn’t stay in, this also wasn’t mentioned.
There were positives like free bike usage, good cocktails, board games in lobby and a clean pool but I wouldn’t say this is a luxury hotel but more like a 3 star hotel with a 5 star mask.
All in all, a birthday that wasn’t a treat.

Guest UserThank you for the wonderful stay at
Pondok Santi Resort!
We loved the peaceful surroundings, the kindness of your staff (always smiling and welcoming!), and the exceptional service-especially the delicious breakfasts we looked forward to every morning. We were truly touched by the thoughtful gesture of preparing pastries for our departure.
It's rare to find a place that combines such attentive hospitality with the serenity of nature.

Guest UserThe hotel's location is fantastic, right on the beachfront with private sun loungers. The staff are welcoming, and there's a tap outside each villa to rinse off sand after the beach. We were greeted wonderfully and checked in immediately as our room was ready. They promptly brought welcome drinks and cold towels.
Regarding the downsides: there are no disposable toothbrushes or body lotion. The water isn't in disposable bottles but in a carafe that you have to refill yourself in the lobby. The room is very dark with insufficient lighting. The windows aren't airtight, leading to high street noise, especially when the call to prayer starts at night. The refrigerator is also very noisy. The air conditioner is positioned to blow directly onto the bed, so we had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed. The AC is also loud. There were strange worm-like caterpillars crawling in the bathroom and room. There are no power outlets near the beds. Breakfast is à la carte, with an additional buffet offering vegetables, fruits, cheese, cold cuts, and pastries. The breakfast food isn't very good; poached eggs were overcooked. A plus is that you can order several dishes from the menu. The latte coffee was very bitter, and I had to add milk myself. I believe the price for this hotel is too high. The only plus is the location – it's conveniently situated a 10-minute walk from the port and has a beach spot where you can see turtles.

Honey Fist
😄👊🏻 We had an absolutely wonderful time staying in Gili for our honeymoon!
We took a horse cart from the harbor to the resort, which was a unique and fun experience. We also rented an electric bike at the accommodation and comfortably explored every corner of the island.
Most of all, true to its resort name, the swimming pool, gym, and private beach were very private and relaxing, making it perfect for a couple's trip. I also remember all the staff members being incredibly friendly and welcoming with smiles.
I had heard that the water quality on Gili Island isn't the best, and on our first day, the water from the shower was quite poor. However, when I informed the front desk, they immediately changed our room to a better one. Thanks to the staff's prompt and kind response, we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay perfectly.
I highly recommend this place for a honeymoon or couple's getaway!

Location:
Private and beautiful beach. Not great for swimming or snorkeling (due to the tide) but beautiful for sunsets.
In general it's in a more quiet, less crowded area. However, there are lots of restos, beach cinemas, and a small grocery store in walking distance. It takes ~15-20min to drive to the other side of the island where the harbor, the night market, and lots of bars are located.
Rooms:
Spacious. Clean. Everything as described. Comfortable beds (mattresses are not extremely soft, but rather a bit hard). The terrace is really nice.
Food:
Breakfast was very delicious. It's not buffet, but the portions are really good and definitely sufficient. Every breakfast includes tea/coffee, juice, water, and pastry.
Service:
All staff was overly kind and friendly.
Room service up to 2 times a day (with homemade cookies every night).
Bikes are for rent - prices are the same as everywhere else. Bikes are a bit run down - but so are most bikes that we've seen on the island.
We recommend staying at the hotel.

We stayed as two couples and had a spectacular time at Kelapa. Ren the manager was ready to help our every need straight away and helped us book bikes and trips. She went as far as confirming we didn't pay too much when we booked others on our own. The villa itself was clean, tidy and exactly what we were looking for. The pool is huge but rather deep for the most part so you'll want to keep an extra eye on children.
The Kelapa boys would come by to clean the place every morning about 10-11am and did an excellent job. They were very polite and made sure not to go into your room to clean without asking first.
I gave one less star on location because it's in the heart of the island where it's much quieter. If you're looking for a night out you'll definitely need a bike or carriage arranged, otherwise you can expect a long walk home.
We originally booked 3 nights and very quickly decided to add on to our stay. Thanks so much Ren and Team for an unforgettable visit!
Best,
Ryan Lisha

Guest UserLOVED this hotel!!! Hands down the most beautiful hotel on the island.
This place offers stunning beach vibes with little apartments and lovely outdoor spaces that make it so easy to relax and soak up the island lifestyle. We actually rented bikes and rode around the entire island, and this was easily the most beautiful hotel we saw!
The pool is the absolute main feature here—great cocktails and an amazing vibe. The rooms were nice, and the outdoor shower was the cutest touch! My only minor critique regarding the room would be the lack of shower gel holders and towel rails near the actual shower itself.
Food-wise, breakfast was incredible. It can take quite some time—you could easily spend an hour there—but it wasn't a problem for us because they bring out croissants and pastries while you wait, keeping you full while you enjoy the beautiful views.
An absolutely stunning stay, I can't wait to go back!

Bee_❤️If you want to stay close to the harbour and right where the atmosphere is lively, Villa Ombak is a great choice. It’s only about a six-minute walk from the harbour, so everything is easy to reach without being right in the middle of the crowds. The staff were genuinely lovely and very welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable. You get the best of both worlds — close enough to walk to where things are happening, yet still peaceful enough to relax.
I stayed in one of the traditional Lumbung huts and it was absolutely beautiful. Just something to note — the bathroom is downstairs via a small staircase from the bedroom, so it suits someone reasonably mobile. The shower is outdoors, which actually adds a really nice tropical touch and makes the experience a bit more unique. Under the bedroom there’s also a bale (a shaded lounging space) where you can unwind, read, or sneak in an afternoon nap — honestly, very easy to lose track of time there.

Guest UserThe room was nice, with several outlets on the wall, including both a two-pin and three-pin Chinese standard. The hotel has two adult swimming pools (1.6m and 1.3m deep) and one children's pool (0.8m deep). Breakfast is a full buffet with a wide variety of options, and the Vietnamese pho was delicious. A thoughtful touch was the restaurant calling our room to remind us about breakfast if we hadn't shown up by 9 AM. The downsides are the late 2 PM check-in time. Also, being located on the northern beach, dining options and snack shops nearby are limited, so you'll need to rent a car to get around and find food.

IngridThe hotel has beautiful rooms, but no maintenance. At present they are fitting it, it is noted that it has been closed for 2 years. Aris the manager is great, I help us with everything he could and more, it is of those people who value the places. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable.
