We had a fantastic time! Hogwarts is the best location in the park. I also recommend the How to Train Your Dragon theater, Lights, Camera, Action, the parade, and the evening light show.

Words fail to describe the delight of our day at Universal Beijing Resort. We arrived at 10 a.m., daunted by stories of huge lines, but we were all in in 30 minutes. All we needed was our passport and face scan. We were a bit unlucky with the weather and it rained for half the day, but it didn't ruin our experience. We went mainly for the Harry Potter universe. The magical atmosphere greets you right at the entrance. It's best to visit the park on a weekday (we went on a Wednesday); there are lines, but it's not that scary. The decorations, butterbeer, shops, and music all transport you to a magical world. Kung Fu Panda World is also beautiful (we escaped the rain there). Everything is illuminated, there are rides, and you can eat delicious food. We took pictures of all the kung fu masters. 😄 The area is mainly for children. Next, we visited the Transformers zone with their ride (the line for the slide was the shortest at 90 minutes, but we got through it in 40 minutes, leaving everything, including our bags and phones, in the storage locker). We definitely recommend visiting the Hollywood zone with its interesting show and very short lines. Unfortunately, the Water World zone was closed. Be sure to download the Universal BJ app (you can track the wait time in real time). Expectations were 100% met!

I came to China for this! A lot of emotions, wow impressions! I went for the Harry Potter location. Everything is cool and super, the atmosphere of magic is truly felt. Lots of souvenir shops, you won’t have enough money to buy everything. There are 2 attractions, the Hypogriff and the Forbidden Journey. First go to the Hypogriff and then to the Forbidden Journey, then the wow effect will be much more significant. Arrive there at opening time, because there are huge lines for 1-2 hours, if not more. Try to buy a ticket on a weekday, so there will be fewer people. Also, buy all the souvenirs after the attractions, because with them it’s not convenient to just move around and get on the attractions, especially the Forbidden Journey. There is a small show opposite Hogwarts during the day. And of course, be sure to wait for the light show at Hogwarts itself (local time it was at 8:00 pm), but it all depends on twilight, than The earlier it gets dark, the earlier the show starts, so you can't really guess the exact time.

Things to Know Before Visiting Universal Studios Beijing

There are some important things you need to know before going to Universal Studios Beijing:

  1. You must buy tickets online before your visit; you cannot buy tickets at the gate easily on busy days. You need to bring your ID card or passport to enter the park, because the ticket is linked to your identity.
  2. Do not bring dangerous items, large bags, or outside outside food into the park. Small snacks and empty water bottles are allowed.
  3. Check the weather forecast and bring sunscreen, a hat, or an umbrella if needed.
  4. Follow the park rules for every ride and show for safety.
  5. Conserve battery on your phone for photos, navigation, etc ; bringing a power bank would be a good idea.

How to Get to Universal Studios Beijing?

Universal Studios Beijing Parade

There are two easy and common ways to get to Universal Studios Beijing:

The first and best way is to take the subway. You can take Beijing Subway Line 7 or Batong Line to Universal Resort Station. Get out of the station from Exit B, and you only need to walk 5-10 minutes to reach the park entrance. Subway is cheap, fast, and you do not have to worry about traffic jams.

The second way is driving a car or taking a taxi. If you drive, the park has a big parking lot with thousands of parking spaces, parking fees apply. If you take a taxi, just tell the driver the location, and the driver will take you to the main entrance drop-off area. You can also take a bus, but buses are slower than the subway, so most visitors choose the subway.

Best Time to Go to Universal Studios Beijing

Universal Studios Beijing Harry Potter Castle

The best time to visit Universal Studios Beijing is spring and autumn. Spring is from March to May, and autumn is from September to November. During these two seasons, the weather is very comfortable—neither too hot nor too cold. The sky is usually clear, and it is perfect for walking and taking photos outside.

You should avoid going in summer (June to August) because it is very hot and rainy in Beijing, and winter (December to February) is very cold. Also, try to go on weekdays instead of weekends or holidays. Weekdays have far fewer visitors, so waiting times for rides are much shorter. If you can only go on weekends, arrive at least 30 minutes before the park opens to beat the crowds. The best time of day to experience popular rides is the first two hours after the park opens and the last two hours before closing.

How to Explore Universal Studios Beijing?

Universal Studios Beijing Transformer

Exploring Universal Studios Beijing can be easy if you plan well.

  • Download the official Universal Beijing Resort app on your phone. This app shows the waiting time for every ride, the time of all shows, and a simple map of the park.
  • Arrive at the park early, especially on weekends and holidays. The park gets very crowded after 10 a.m., so arriving early helps you enjoy more popular rides with shorter waiting times.
  • Make a simple plan of the rides and shows you want to see first. Do not try to do everything in one day, because the park is very big. You can pick 5-7 top things you like most.
  • Wear comfortable shoes because you will be walking a lot during the day. You can also buy an Express Pass if you do not want to wait in long lines; this pass lets you enter rides faster.
