This is my second time choosing the Grand Park Hotel by Cuihu Lake, having stayed in Kunming a few times. The location is truly a 'hidden gem' – No. 20 Honghua Bridge, within a ten-minute walk to the Yunnan Military Academy, Yunnan University, and Wenlin Street. You can even see the shimmering waters of Cuihu Lake from your window. It's a well-established five-star hotel; while it's older, it's well-maintained. The solid wood furniture and ethnic patterned carpets give it a distinct Yunnanese vibe, rather than a trendy, 'influencer-style' aesthetic. The extra-long windows in the room are a highlight. This hotel is perfect for city walks around the Cuihu Lake area, for those traveling with seniors, or guests who prefer not to change locations frequently. However, if you're looking for brand-new facilities or an 'Instagrammable' pool, you might want to consider other options.

This was my second stay at the Holiday Inn Kunming City Centre during this Yunnan trip. My first experience was quite good overall, and the hotel maintained the consistent service standards that Holiday Inn is known for, which is why I chose to stay here again. However, my second stay was a bit disappointing. Two specific details significantly impacted my experience: Firstly, breakfast. I ordered a fried egg, and it never arrived, even by the time breakfast was almost over. I reminded the staff several times, but it still didn't come, yet I saw some guests who arrived later than me receive theirs. This was a poor experience. Secondly, the parking issue. I arrived quite late the previous day and registered my license plate during check-in, thinking I could leave smoothly the next morning to catch my flight. However, when checking out in the morning, I found that my license plate hadn't been entered into the system, which caused some delays. Aside from these issues, the hotel's location, room cleanliness, overall environment, and facilities were all good, and the area is quite convenient. I hope they can optimize the details like breakfast service management and parking system entry in the future; it would make for a much more consistent overall experience.

The hotel's decor isn't modern; it has a traditional American style. The bathroom mirror and wall sconces reminded me of a home I once lived in, which had a similar design, so it felt very nostalgic. Although the room's facilities show their age, you can tell they've been meticulously cared for and well-maintained by the hotel staff. The cleanliness is spot-on, and the hotel service is very attentive, friendly, and polite. I recommend the connecting rooms for families; they offer plenty of space while still providing a good degree of privacy. The location is excellent. Just a short walk from the hotel, you can find authentic 'xiaoguo mixian' (small-pot rice noodles) and local barbecue. You can easily reach many wild mushroom hotpot restaurants by scooter. It was really enjoyable taking the kids around to experience the cityscape of Kunming.

Housekeeper Jenny was incredibly attentive. She called me beforehand to ask about my check-in needs and prepared the room and toiletries accordingly. She showed genuine care for my entire stay. The room was clean and tidy, with no strange odors, and despite being in the city center, it was very quiet. I felt safe and comfortable. This is my top choice for accommodation when visiting Kunming, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

My stay was super satisfying! Daisy at the front desk was warm and polite, and check-in was very fast. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, the bathroom had no strange odors, and there was plenty of hot water. The hotel's location is convenient for getting around and dining. The soundproofing was good, so it wasn't noisy at all at night. The housekeeping auntie provided thoughtful service, and all facilities were complete and in good condition. It's excellent value for money, and I'll choose this hotel again for my next trip. My stay here far exceeded my expectations. The room was spotlessly clean, with meticulous attention to detail everywhere. The mattress was just right – neither too soft nor too firm – and the soundproofing was excellent, making for a wonderfully quiet night. Check-in at the front desk was quick and smooth, and the staff were polite and responsive to all requests. The location is superb, making dining and getting around very convenient. Overall, it felt cozy and secure, making it a top choice for accommodation in this city. I've already recommended it to friends and look forward to staying again.

Beautiful hotel. Bed was comfortable with full pillow selection! Bathroom had separate shower and bath tub. It is connected to a mall and easy walk to alot of wonderful food and shopping which was helpful when it was raining. We truly appreciated the desk staff. My husband had left an item on the train. They contacted the station on our behalf and helped to find it and arrange for us to pick it up. This was only a connection to our next destination but it was a welcomed stop. Definitely explore! We found the most wonderful bakery by walking aimlessly while enjoying the city views.

It's so comfortable to sunbathe during the day and enjoy the breeze at night. The place is cleaned very diligently, and the bedding is fresh and odorless. Perfect location in a walkable tree-lined neighborhood, where there are lots of upscale restaurants and bars and cafes. The hotel isn’t the newest and could use a touch-up in places but very interesting design, cool artwork in the lobby, huge rooms. A couple machines for laundry and gym on top floor. Service at the reception was super helpful. Breakfast is in a restaurant that is a German beer place during the day and night. Selection is modest but sausages and delicious broth and noodles, the bread could have been more fresh. Would stay here again.

Five stars, highly recommended! This is an old, established state guesthouse in Kunming that you absolutely must stay at. Its heritage, views, and service are all top-notch. The location is unbeatable, directly facing Cuihu Park. Open the French windows and you're greeted with lake views and weeping willows. In autumn and winter, you can even spot red-billed gulls. Yunnan University and the Yunnan Military Academy are within walking distance, making it convenient for exploring the old city without much travel. The hotel's design was partly conceived by I.M. Pei, blending new Chinese style with retro Art Deco. The lobby's gilded lotus sculpture, rosewood carvings, and vintage staircase create an incredible ambiance. The gardens are tranquil and elegant, and every photo you take captures the unique, understated elegance of a historic five-star hotel. Service is gentle, understated, and perfectly balanced, never intrusive. Upon check-in, guests receive fresh flowers and welcome fruits, and the room is refreshed daily with Yunnan-style floral arrangements. Turndown service includes peach gum and white fungus soup, along with seagull-shaped cookies – thoughtful details that truly shine. The 24-hour butler service is on-call, and staff members politely greet guests, always professional and sincere. The room comfort exceeded expectations. The bedding is soft and plush, and the soundproofing is excellent. During the dry season, the whole-house humidity control system is a lifesaver, especially for those with allergies. The bathroom features a built-in TV in the bathtub and electric privacy glass. All mini-bar drinks are complimentary, and there's even freshly ground Yunnan small-grain coffee, adding a distinct local touch. Breakfast is served in the lake-view restaurant, offering a rich variety of authentic dishes, including freshly prepared Crossing-the-Bridge Noodles, 'posu bao' (flaky steamed buns), and rose 'naiba Jiu' (a local milky wine). Dining by the lake creates an exceptional atmosphere. The accompanying heated pool is clean and uncrowded, perfect for relaxation. Whether for business or leisure, this hotel is perfectly suited. Its century-old refined quality is irreplaceable. I will definitely choose Cuihu Hotel again on my next visit to Kunming!

Dianchi Lake Scenic Area/ Sunac World Kunming|8.14km from city centre
If I'm looking to relax by Dianchi Lake again, I'd definitely consider InterContinental. The hotel is very close to Dianchi Lake, and you can walk to Haigeng Dam to watch the sunset, which gives it a real vacation vibe – perfect if you're planning fewer city excursions. The evening ceremony was quite interesting, especially since it was drizzling the night we watched, which added a lovely atmosphere! However, during the ceremony, there were many children running on the wooden bridge, which wasn't ideal for those of us watching from the lobby bar. Perhaps they could consider roping off the area during the ceremony? Also, the drinks at the lobby bar were quite mediocre. Can they really not afford a proper bartender? Facilities: Generally meets 5-star hotel standards. Although it's an older property, the room facilities are well-maintained. A downside was the pool changing rooms, which were quite basic and not cleaned promptly. Hygene: Very good, the room was clean and tidy. Ambiance: The hotel's public areas are relatively small for a resort hotel, but the plant arrangements are lovely, and there are many name tags to identify the trees. However, the numerous shops inside do detract from the brand's premium feel. Service: The shuttle service was efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making for a comfortable stay. Another point of criticism is the breakfast restaurant. Both the variety and quality were not up to the InterContinental standard, nor did they match the hotel's resort positioning. After all, a delicious breakfast is what makes you want to return. Furthermore, at the two noodle stations, the instructions were unclear. One side was a fixed small bowl of rice noodles, while the other was plain noodles where you added your own toppings. There should ideally be a small blackboard listing the options for guests to choose from, but there wasn't. The staff also didn't proactively explain the options; I had to ask detailed questions to understand. This led to a poor experience, especially since the noodles weren't particularly tasty. I hope the hotel can improve this in the future.

I spent a long time choosing a hotel for our trip to Kunming because I wanted somewhere that would keep the kids entertained, but also be suitable for celebrating our wedding anniversary and a birthday. I chose this place primarily for the bathtub in this room type and its convenient location. However, once we arrived, I was truly impressed by how comprehensive the amenities are. From meals to entertainment, and catering to both children and adults, everything is taken care of. The staff were also incredibly friendly and attentive. The biggest surprise was the handwritten birthday card – in this digital age, a handwritten card really warms the heart. We booked two nights, and we didn't even leave the hotel for one of them; we spent the entire day there with the kids and never got bored. My children are already talking about coming back again.

The hotel is located right by Dianchi Lake, with separate lanes for vehicles and pedestrians. There's an observation deck not far from the hotel, and it's about 800-900 meters to Haigeng Park and Haihong Wetland. However, you still have to walk further to get to the cable car station, and I estimate the dam is even further – I didn't go there. The hotel is 2.3 kilometers from Xingti Road Station on Metro Line 5. Our package included one complimentary drop-off service to the metro station, which was really good. It would be even better if they offered round-trip shuttle service to the metro for backpackers. However, there aren't many shops around the hotel. For dining, it's either the hotel restaurant or ordering takeout. Park 1903 Commercial Street is about 3 kilometers away, so it's more suitable if you have a car. The hotel service was excellent. The front desk staff, housekeeping, and drivers were all incredibly gentle and friendly. The manager even proactively helped us with our luggage. The hotel is quite understated; in fact, the observation deck not far away offers amazing sunrise views, but they never promote it.

I ordered takeout, but the hotel doesn't allow the deliveryman to deliver to the room because it was inconvenient for me, so I asked the front desk for help, and it was delivered to the room very quickly. When I asked the reason, the front desk guy told me that it was for the safety of the guests that the deliveryman was not allowed to go upstairs. The hotel has trained guests that if they need takeout to the room, they can help deliver it. The overall feeling of the hotel is good, and the service attitude is very good. When I checked in, I asked about the surrounding attractions and routes, and they explained it very patiently. The room internet connection was very fast, and I asked the waiter, who told me that each room has an independent dedicated line. The room feels clean, and you can swim, exercise, and take a hot spring bath. Since I had a lot of fun, I didn't have time to take a few photos of the hotel. My family loved the hotel. It was spacious with a courtyard, a lake, and fish. The gym was large and well-equipped with a wide variety of equipment. There were two heated swimming pools, which were cleaned every night. The hot spring water next to the pools was also drained and replaced with fresh water the next day. There were both indoor and outdoor pools, and the hot spring water was drawn from underground. The whole hotel was a recreational attraction. Extended my stay. A heads-up: the 19th floor can get noisy. Around 8 or 9 PM every night, there were two or three loud, rumbling noises (like a suitcase being dragged over uneven ground). The first time it happened, my grandma was startled awake. After three consecutive nights, I asked the front desk staff, Xiao Zhu, on the 29th and learned it was due to the revolving restaurant affecting the 19th floor. Xiao Zhu offered to move us to the 18th floor, but since we were prepared for the noise after the first unexpected disturbance, we decided not to switch. Thanks for the attentive service! Another tip: For those who need absolute quiet, while the location is convenient, it also means traffic noise is present.

The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, and the front desk staff were incredibly warm and attentive.

The front desk service was excellent. Any issues I had were addressed very quickly when I called. I accidentally stained the sheets one night and they promptly came to replace them without any fuss or blame. If the laundry room isn't convenient, you can leave a note and they'll help with your washing. When checking out, they even asked if I wanted some snacks, and there were complimentary cans of Coke and Sprite in the room. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Colorful Yunnan Paradise Kunming|29.69km from city centre
Decided to take a spontaneous trip with friends during the off-season. It was my first time in Kunming, and I wasn't sure where to stay, so I chose the Crowne Plaza Fuxian Lake, part of the InterContinental group. I hadn't realized how remote the location was. While there are quite a few tourist attractions nearby, getting around isn't convenient. It feels more suitable for couples looking for a romantic getaway or families with kids. There's an amusement park right next door. The hotel's standard amenities and facilities are excellent, and the environment is lovely. The room was great, with a small balcony. Kunming's climate is so pleasant, perfect for sitting on the balcony, enjoying the breeze, and clearing your mind. There's lush greenery all around, and the air is fresh. Ms. Clove at the front desk was very attentive. After check-in, she even sent over some travel guides and tips. The hotel service was really good, and we also received welcome fruits. The cleanliness was top-notch. After breakfast at the hotel, I returned to my room to find it already cleaned. They even neatly folded my messy clothes and tidied up my makeup bag – truly impressive! Overall, aside from the location, which was a bit disappointing, my entire experience at the hotel was fantastic.

Century City area Kunming|8.51km from city centre
Honestly, this hotel's rating is definitely underestimated. It's a traditional, established five-star hotel. We got a free room upgrade, and the room was very spacious. Although the facilities are a bit old, they are all high-quality. The hotel also has a large parking lot and lobby, and the breakfast area is huge with a wide variety of options. I've stayed at Century Golden Resources in Chongqing, which is a renowned hotel there. I'm not sure why it seems to be perceived as lesser in Kunming; it's severely underrated. They offer free umbrella rentals, and there's a huge shopping mall nearby, making everything very convenient. The best part is that the prices didn't even go up during the May Day holiday, which is incredibly fair. The only drawback is that they are currently undergoing renovations, so it's a bit noisy during the day. However, we were out exploring during the day, so we mostly avoided the noise. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

A truly pleasant surprise! First, I have to praise the front desk service. The young lady who checked me in was efficient and professional. She even proactively asked about my preferred floor and invoice details beforehand, showing great attention to detail. Although the room wasn't huge, the Chinese-style decor was very cozy, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The bedding was spotless and neatly made, and even the carpet in the hallway was clean. The internet speed was fast, and the power outlets on the desk were well-placed, which was very convenient. The biggest surprise was the soundproofing – once the doors and windows were closed, I could barely hear any noise from the corridor or the street outside, leading to excellent sleep quality. The free parking lot was spacious with clearly marked spots, which was a big plus for us self-driving guests. Overall, the facilities are very well-maintained. I'll definitely choose this place again for my next business trip to the area.

The hotel is located in 1903, which is very convenient for travel and shopping. The breakfast ingredients are fresh and taste great. The room has good lighting and is very comfortable. There is a self-service laundry room on the second floor, as well as a gym. The service of the front desk and the cleaning lady is also great. It will definitely be the first choice when I come to Kunming next time.

This stay truly exceeded my expectations, and I have to give it a huge thumbs up! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt that meticulous care. The bedding in the room was just right – neither too soft nor too firm – and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom was very thoughtfully designed. Add to that the staff's professional and prompt service, and it made this trip exceptionally relaxed and comfortable. It's definitely the top choice for both business trips and leisure getaways.

The owner upgraded me to a loft king room. The room was very rustic and had a unique Yunnan charm. Breakfast included rice noodles, soy milk, and various grains. The owner even came downstairs to pick me up. The location is about 790 meters from the old town, making it very convenient for sightseeing and getting around. The conditioner was also really good!

Hidden away in Kunming's old town, this hotel is located in the historic Flying Tiger Building. It's a perfect blend of rich history and vintage industrial style, with every corner being incredibly photogenic! My bathtub room was super therapeutic – after a long day of exploring, a soak in the copper tub was pure bliss. It's conveniently located near Cuihu Lake, Culture Alley, and Wenlin Street. Plus, it's just an 800-meter walk to Metro Line 3, making it incredibly comfortable for a city walk in Kunming. Most importantly, it's pet-friendly! Bringing your furry friends is totally fine, with just a 50 RMB deposit that's fully refundable upon check-out if there's no damage.

The location of the hotel can also be near Vientiane City. The hotel is on the side of the road and is easier to find. The lobby on the first floor of the hotel is large. This hotel has several floors and dozens of rooms. The sound insulation is too poor. There is also a wooden board and mirror of a cabinet in the next room. The sound of boiling water in the next room was very clear, the sound of opening the cabinet door in the next room was also very clear, and the sound of talking in the next room was also very clear. The sound of bathing upstairs and next door was also very clear, the sound of rushing water. The voice in the corridor was also heard very clearly, the sound of walking in the corridor, the sound of pulling the suitcase, and it was also heard very clearly. On the evening of the New Year's Eve, I called the front desk several times and no one answered. On the second day, I asked the front desk person, and the front desk person said that it was a holiday. No one cleaned on the first day of the New Year, the front desk had to change my room, and I didn't change it. I have stayed in so many hotels. The first time I encountered such a situation, there was no one at the front desk on the 30th night of the New Year. There was no staff in the hotel and no security. There was no cleaning staff on the first day of the New Year. This is not a small hotel, it is also a relatively large hotel, how can this situation occur? I stayed at this hotel for more than ten days and didn't see who the manager of the hotel was from the beginning to the end. In addition to a staff member at the front desk, it was the cleaning person.
