THE place to stay in Shaoshan. I felt like I was at home, tucked into a quiet wooded corner of town. They helped me organize my short stay, drove me around, and cooked up an excellent breakfast. They were great company and my only complaint is that I couldn’t stay longer. (The room was perfect; the pictures speak for themselves.)

It's best to drive here, as it's about a 15-minute walk to Chairman Mao's former residence. We found it very pleasant to walk in spring, but for those who don't want to walk, taking a taxi isn't very convenient. The atmosphere in the scenic area is wonderful, and the water is all spring water. Next time I come, I'll definitely go hiking and stay for a few more days.

When I turned off the air conditioner, the same sound came from the outdoor air conditioners in other rooms, and the quilt was a little thin. Great choice for light sleepers. It’s okay to just pass by on a self-driving tour and stay overnight.
