"My stay was very good, the staff was professional and helpful. My only complaint was the imposed tax on Colombian citizens. I believe, I should be given the benefits of a foreign visitor. Colombia has forced us US citizens to have dual citizenship if you were born in Colombia, so they can penalize us with their tax laws. I’m a U.S. citizen I’ve lived in the US for 53 years. I paid the taxes because I came to Barranquilla to have a great time and I truly did, I didn’t come to argue or dispute their laws. The problem was that I decided to extend my stay at the hotel not knowing that I would have to pay the taxes again, that upset me and expressed my feelings. But the staff are there to do their jobs. When I read the fine print with booking connections it mentioned that the tax would apply if I was staying at the hotel for more than 60 days, I only 6 days maybe I totally misunderstood the information."

"The hotel is located in a new building surrounded by new buildings. It is very close to supermarkets and shopping malls. There are actually two Chinese fast food restaurants in the nearby shopping malls. The taste is just so-so. The hotel still does not have an electric kettle. One thing I don’t like is that it was originally a buffet breakfast, but the waiter was too enthusiastic and didn’t let me do it myself. He would help you serve whatever you like."

"The staff at the Howard Johnson were amazing. The location for Carnival is dead Centre to get to the stadium or parade route. Special thanks to Adrian, Santiago, Satay and the restaurant staff for their exceptional customer service and knowledge. The staff at the pool were also amazing people, did everything in their power to meet every request by the guests. Special thanks to them too. If I was to come up with my only complaint was the room cleaning staff. They lacked basics like new toilet paper or replacing towels. But this negative, was overcome by the other staff."

"I'll ignore the fact that no one at the reception speaks English, even in a tourist town like Baranquilla during the carnival period, but on top of that they are cold and not welcoming at all. We asked for 2 room keys...NO only one per room, no more battery for the safe so it cannot be used and at the reception they look at you like extraterrestrials, for the shower it is better to like very lukewarm water because the hot water is like welcome....non-existent In short, to be avoided at all costs"
