My husband and I planned a trip to Kamikochi and stopped over in Matsumoto. The hotel is about an 8-minute walk from the station, which is quite convenient, but the nearest convenience store is also a four or five-minute walk away.
The breakfast at the hotel was pretty good, the tempura was delicious, though the variety wasn't huge, so eating it for two consecutive days might get a bit boring.
From 9:30 PM, they offer free ramen, which is a nice touch after a hot spring bath. The onsen also provides free ice cream, and in the morning, they have Yakult.
The hotel is also quite clean. Highly recommend it!

Anonymous UserEverything was excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and very quiet. The soba and ice cream were delicious! The location is perfectâclose to the train station and many city attractions. The reception staff provided great service, and I was able to leave my luggage there after checking out.

Fukashiso could be one of the loveliest accommodation that I have ever stayed at. The staff were very polite, attentive and extremely helpful and courteous. The place itself is so beautiful and quaint. Traditional garments are provided as an option if you want to dress up for dinner. Made for great photo ops! The Kaiseki was the most beautiful equivalent of a degustation Iâve tried, and it was served in a lovely separate intimate dining area. During dinner Nobu-San a fourth generation family member of the owners greeted us which was a lovely touch. Soba was freshly made at the accomodation. We stayed two nights and the Kaiseki menu was different each time. Breakfast was a nice assortment of Japanese and Western options and the coffee machine was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the onsens, there are two public ones that switch locations for men and women and a private one. They were well equipped and relaxing. Our room was on Level 1 with a private bathroom, seating area and little garden view. Overall this place is highly recommended. For a traditional ryokan experience, it was so nice. Even after we checked out, the receptionist gave us a little gift, and even walked us outside to where our car was parked. Such a warm and lovely place. Stay here for sure!

TonleewOur stay at Poetical was truly one of the most memorable experiences of our trip in Japan.
From the peaceful atmosphere surrounded by beautiful nature to the warm hospitality of the owner, everything felt so special and heartfelt. My husband and I were deeply touched by the kindness and care we received throughout our stay.
The homemade meals were absolutely delicious, every dish was prepared with so much love and attention, making us feel completely at home.
Thank you for creating such a beautiful place filled with warmth, comfort, and unforgettable memories.
We already miss Poetical and hope to come back again in winter to see this lovely place covered in snow âïž

ăăŁăăNo.2Close to the station, with many restaurants nearby. It also has a large public bath. There are plenty of power outlets, and the breakfast is delicious. Overall, I honestly feel it's a great hotel.

Hannah R CLocation was a 4 minute walk from the station, or 15 minutes to Matsumoto Castle which was great! Room was pretty spacious (bathroom was compact but fine) and there was a free breakfast which was very good - not too much choice but tasted really good. Beds were quite hard and they donât do luggage storage after checkout unlike most other hotels, so had to pay for luggage storage at the station instead. Was good for one night. Great value for the price.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth and professionalism, making me feel instantly at home. The property itself is beautifully maintained, with stunning views and thoughtful touches that create a relaxing atmosphere. Every detailâfrom the comfortable rooms to the delicious dining optionsâwas carefully curated to ensure a memorable experience. I was especially impressed by how impeccably clean everything was, including the public bathrooms and hot spring area. The staff cleaned up immediately after use, which made the whole environment feel fresh and cared for. I truly appreciate the teamâs dedication to hospitality and excellence, and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.
We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary care shown by the hotel assistant Akemi during our stay. When we were unexpectedly stuck in the snow in a remote area, she walked alone to find us and kindly offered assistance to call for tow truck support. She then guided us safely back to the hotel, even though we had already checked out, and welcomed us with tea and biscuits to keep us warm while we waited. Her thoughtfulness and dedication went far beyond duty, and her kindness turned a stressful situation into a touching memory. Thank you sincerely for such genuine hospitalityâit is something we will never forget.

Outdoor temperature was around â3°C, but the ryokan felt even colder because some sections were open to the outdoors. The walkway from the rooms to the onsen is uncovered, so thereâs no way to avoid the cold. I had to wear my winter jacket just to walk to the public bath.
There is a private bath option, but the one assigned to me was far too hot â I couldnât even step into the water.
The public bath is a very small indoor pool, probably suitable for 2â3 people at most. There is no shower in the room, so using the public bath is unavoidable.
The room itself was very cold. On top of that, I had to carry my own 25-inch luggage up three floors as there is no lift, so this place is not suitable if you canât manage your own luggage.
Dinner was disappointing â just soba and a simple soup with pork and some vegetables and mushrooms.

The room is a bit like a small house in Tokyo, it is still crowded! The twin room is a twin room with a bunk bed, and the lower one will be bigger, the upper bunk will be a little narrower, but the bed is still very comfortable overall, and sleeps very well! Breakfast is free, starting at 6:30 in the morning, winter is different from summer, and the store notice shall prevail. But the price/performance ratio really has nothing to say. Is it a night of sleep or recommended đ also self-check in and then the room door lock password will be printed on a piece of paper, which is more convenient. The station is about 5 minutes away, it is still very close.

Anonymous UserThe hotel located in good location, with walking distance to the city center area where you can find shops, restaurants, or even Matsumoto Castle. Parking lot provided with fees but itâs quite convenient. The most favorite from this hotel is thereâre plenty of amenities â shampoo, conditioner, shower gel from a lot of brands that you can select by yourself at the lobby.
