"Situated in a great location in the heart of the city in Downtown Houston with convenient access to the MetroLine Rail which is less than a 5 mins walking distance (Red line from Main Street and Green and Purple lines from Rusk Street). I was able to move around the city fairly easy.
For hotel facilities, I liked that there was a gym with free access, which included TV entertainment and a free-access laundry room with both washing machines and tumble dryers. There were drinking water fountains on each floor corridor for guests to refill on water and keep hydrated instead of requesting for more water bottles in their rooms. There were also vending machines available if preferred.
I was a little underwhelmed with the appearance of my first room. The weren't clean from the outside which affected my view. The bathroom mirrors were stained and the room space felt small even as a single guest. There was no mini fridge which I've found to be a hotel room standard and it would've been practical for storing cool drinks and snacks especially in the Texas summer heat. However, there was manually controlled air conditioning which helped. There was also no safe in my room for me to store my valuables and important travel documents which I found puzzling. Hence I requested a room change which the staff assisted me with. The second room was much better as it was a larger space which included an additional arm chair along with a small kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave and a wash-hand basin). The room was cleaner, however there was still no safe. When I enquired about it, I learnt that only some of the rooms have safes which is odd to not to be a feature in all the rooms, so I shared this feedback. Overall, the room decor was simplistic and suited towards business trip/travellers which I didn't mind. However, the rooms could be refurbished to look more modern and minimalist.
The staff were okay. They were helpful in assisting me with a room change when I wasn't happy but I didn't feel like I received exceptional customer service from any particular individual. Upon arriving, I didn't feel properly welcomed and informed about the facilities and a few staff members came across a little nonchalant in addressing queries and issues. For example, I requested a mini fridge to be added to my first room on day 1 which was meant to arrive the same day but instead arrived at my new room the following day when I made the room request showing a slow response time for when I actually needed it. Also my checkout process was very quick and I was informed that my deposit would return to my original payment card within 5 working days which did not happen and I had to follow up with manager who said he would email me to check in on the progress of the refund but I never received any further communication. I had to raise the issue with card provider who told me the the payment was marked as a pending refundable deposit and should the hotel not confirm my refund, then it would automatically be refunded back to my account after 30 days. It was extremely frustrating having to wait an entire month to receive a deposit, when I stayed in other hotels during my time in Texas whereby the deposit refund was instant upon me checking out. Needless to say that my overall experience was okay but could've been better, especially if I was staying there for the entirety of my trip. A few days staying there was enough and I would rate it a 3* rather than a 4* hotel realistically."
"We came to town for a softball tournament & this stay was so convenient. HEB right around the corner, so many dining options, even late night options, thank you for having all we needed & making this trip that much more awesome. "
"Great hotel and very clean. Staff was very nice. Only problem is you can't call ahead to request where you would prefer your room to be, especially when I booked more than one room, other than this it was a great stay!!!"
"It's an old hotel, so even though it was remodeled, I was worried when I went in.
I thought it was because the lobby and reception were ordinary.
Oh my goodness, the room was clean and very modern~~~
What was disappointing was the pillow, which I had not seen anywhere else in the world.
It was a pillow with a lot of cotton tangled together, but it wasn't uncomfortable.
It was even quite comfortable. On the other hand, I wonder if it was clean since even the cotton was washed.
I also wanted to haha
And since it's an old hotel, even if it's remodeled, the plumbing can't be changed.
There probably wasn't one.
ㅡ.ㅡ;;;;; I definitely recommend bottled water for brushing your teeth."
"The experience was quite pleasant. The members of staff who attended to our needs during our one week training were helpful and responsive to our needs.
Mariam, at the reception, was willing to assist and offer help upon request. The location of the hotel and the facilities were fantastic as well. All round pleasant experience"
"I booked the room which included free breakfast. The lady staff said that I have no free breakfast. The man staff said that I have free breakfast. After I checked out the hotel do charged me for the breakfast. This is so terrible. I contact trip.com and trip.com confirmed that my booking is included breakfast."
"Overall me stay was great. It was right downtown which was close/ walking distance to a lot of places. They also had several restaurants. I went to the one on the second floor forgot the name but the bartender at night was top tier. I would definitely eat their again."

Amazing
GGuest UserI recently had the pleasure of staying at a youth hostel that truly stood out for its exceptional qualities. Nestled in a residential area, its location was incredibly convenient, offering a tranquil retreat just a bike ride away from the city center—less than 10 minutes to be exact. This made for peaceful nights, ensuring a restful sleep in a safe environment.
The hostel is run by a delightful couple whose hospitality knew no bounds. They were not only eager to assist with any issues that arose but also went above and beyond by providing bicycles. This thoughtful touch significantly enhanced my mobility around Houston, allowing me to reach various destinations swiftly.
What set this hostel apart was the attention to detail and the array of complimentary amenities, including cookies, milk, cereal, coffee, and tea. The cleanliness and smart technology throughout the house contributed to a seamless stay, making it the best hostel experience I've ever had. The bathroom towels folded into swan shapes were a testament to the owners' dedication to detail, adding a touch of elegance and care.
The warmth of the place was akin to being at home, with the owners always ready for a chat, eager to answer questions, and share their stories and experiences. A highlight for me was the world map on the living room wall, where guests could pin their home countries—a fun and interactive way to connect with fellow travelers.
In summary, this hostel was more than just a place to stay; it felt like a home, or perhaps more accurately, a homestay. It's undoubtedly the best hostel I've ever stayed in globally, blending the comfort of a home with the adventurous spirit of a hostel.
GGuest UserThey say nothing is perfect, but this hotel came close! We received a friendly greeting upon entering the lobby, the check-in process was effortless, and although they didn’t have adjoining rooms they ensured that the second room was mere feet away. They allowed us to check-in a bit early into one room and called within 30 mins to inform us that the second room was ready. They also provided the cooktops so that we could make hot meals for our families. Everyone we encountered was very accommodating from the breakfast staff to housekeeping. Hot breakfast was a plus. The only drawback was that the ice machine was inoperable on our floor so we had to venture down to the first floor to retrieve ice.
The rooms were clean, modern, large and definitely accommodated a family of 5 (2 rooms for total of 10 guests). Many restaurants and plenty of shopping is minutes away, but nothing that shares the same street as the hotel although there is a McDonald’s across the highway inside a gas station. I think not being surrounded by eateries helped navigate entering and exiting the parking lot. Total consensus is we will return soon!
刘刘白子_lssGreat Service, Lovely Breakfast — but Room Noise and In-Room Dining Could Improve
I recently stayed at the Thompson Houston and overall had a great experience, especially thanks to the excellent service. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and professional. Their attention to detail really made me feel welcomed, and I was touched when they surprised me with a graduation cake — a thoughtful gesture I truly appreciated.
The hotel breakfast was a highlight. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and once again, the service stood out. Dining in the morning felt like a treat thanks to the welcoming atmosphere.
That said, there were a few downsides that affected my stay. The room was quite noisy, even late into the night. It was hard to relax or fall asleep with the amount of outside noise coming through.
Also, I ordered in-room dining on two occasions. On the first day, everything was great. However, the next day the fries were noticeably soggier, the salad was just a bowl of greens with six tiny avocado cubes, and — most concerning — the aioli on the side looked like it had already been used.
Overall, Thompson Houston left a positive impression on me, mostly due to its exceptional staff and quality breakfast. I hope they can improve the soundproofing and ensure consistency in their in-room dining service.
MM41661****This trip was mainly for a business trip and a trip to NASA, so I rented a car for the whole trip. The hotel has a parking lot and the scenery outside the window is very good, especially at sunrise. The hotel here is relatively close to the highway entrance, so I went to Houston. Very convenient and quite quiet at night. There is a self-service washing machine and a swimming pool.
EEbenezerWe stayed at Home2Suite during our last trip to Houston but it was the one at Pearland. We arrived at this one late in the night and the staff at the front desk was very friendly. However once we entered the lift, we were welcomed with a strong greasy smell. The hall way had rug that was clean but obviously old.
The major concern was the room which had a hole in the ceiling inside the toilet dripping water all over the floor. The AC also wasn’t working well that even at 19 degrees Celsius, was still warm. Initial complain to the staff was met with no vacant room, that they were fully booked. We managed for the first three days because we were outdoors most of the time. The room was later changed to a more comfortable one.
The other thing was the swimming pool. My kids really wanted to swim during our stay but the staff mentioned that some handle to the pool was broken and that it was closed.
The breakfast was also good but with little varieties to choose from.

GGuest UserI checked in very late - around 8-9pm - and the woman at the counter was extremely friendly and nice. She made conversation with us about our trip and our jobs and told us all the available amenities. The room was clean and quiet. The breakfast in the morning was your average hotel breakfast, but had more options than I usually see so close to the end of breakfast time. They did not begin cleaning up breakfast right at the end time, which was nice because they let us keep grazing on what was left before finally taking it away about 20 minutes after breakfast had ended. The vending machines were really cool. There were cheap toiletries in the vending machine that you could buy in case you forgot something at home, and the cola vending machine had ice cold drinks for pretty cheap. I had a great time staying at this hotel and would definitely return if I'm ever in the area again. I've stayed at this brand of hotel (Choice Hotels) before and I've always had a great experience.
TTracy MorganI scheduled a stay on the wrong date. The manager comped me $5. Not a big discount but every bit helps. The room was very clean though it had a strong bleach smell. Lots of contractors and their families staying in the hotel and talking outside our door til late and early next a.m.
GGuest UserI stay here 2-4 times a month when room rates drop.Fresh coffee in morning. No breakfast but alot of fast food places to eat all around here.Huge rooms with all amenitiesSoft bedsRoku TVs with cable..
陳陳Very close to Her***n park, there are 010, 002 metro bus nearby, eating Subway, Burger King, MM, the location is not bad; There is a simple meal in the morning; However, in the room where I stayed, my colleague from the same company said that there would be a strange taste of ”roughly pen”, while the sheets and toilets were quite normal.
