Homestays in Hakuba

The place is great. It feels very new and the living space was very good. We booked the 2 bedroom with loft. The loft do have another 2 beds, so the apartment can easy stay 6 people. However, there is only one shower and toilet. So it might be a little busy there during peak hour 😂. A good thing is they are seperated. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again if we visit again. We drove, so location was not an issue for us.

The hotel is one kilometer away from the bus terminal, but there are small stops near the hotel to various ski resorts, which is very convenient. I booked a total of 5 nights, including meals. The 5 breakfasts are basically Japanese, very hearty and satisfying! It is a traditional Japanese-style bed and breakfast. The room is on tatami mats and you make your own bed. In some years, the furniture is not new, and you can hear it in the walking room in the corridor, but it is very clean! The quality of the guests is also very good, there is no loud noise, which is much better than the Europeans and Americans who later lived in the hotel! The boss is an old Japanese couple. They don’t talk much and may not always smile like other Japanese people, but in fact they love to help. After dinner every morning, they ask you where you plan to go today, and then pull you there. His map wall helps you plan your itinerary, and the hotel also has a lot of coupons or low-cost ski tickets for ski resort cooperation. Save a lot of expenses. After checking out, you need to change to another hotel. After the boss asks the address, he will send it to the next one, but there are still not many words 😁, thank you for your rigorous and lovely Japanese grandpa Very cost-effective, recommended!

The meals in the evening and in the morning were delicious! I went in the middle of summer, but it was so cool and comfortable that I was able to sleep with the windows open at night without turning on the air conditioner. I was a little worried about the unisex toilets on the second floor, but the toilets on the first floor were separated for men and women, so I used the one on the first floor. The owner was also very kind, and after checking out, he drove me to the nearest station. This was very helpful as I had a lot of luggage. The price was also reasonable, so I was very satisfied. I would like to use this hotel again on my next summer trip to Nagano.

The location is very good, a few tens of meters away is a free bus stop, you can go to various ski resorts, the boss is very enthusiastic, can provide the village station shuttle and a lot of help you need, we stayed for three nights, arranged a two-story suite, The toilet kitchen living room is independent, the tatami is upstairs, very warm and warm, next time you choose to go here

From Matsumoto to Baima, take the IC card taken when entering the station on the JR Otaru Line. When you arrive at Baima, you cannot use the IC card. You can't speak English and Japanese. Fortunately, the boss of the Baima Canadian mountain forest cabin will pick you up and use translation software to help communicate with the JR station staff (originally paid cash first, Then reset my card). Baima Canada Mountain Lodge, this hot spring hotel surrounded by ski resorts, has many plateau ski resorts 1 to 5 miles nearby, and is a 1 km walk from the famous Bafangweigen ski resort 🚠 station (general boss will pick up and drop off for free). One bedroom and one living room apartment kitchen utensils are complete, the room is clean and the staff is warm. The hotel service is quite intimate, the boss is free and responsive, (free JR White Horse Station connection, need to be made in advance), we arrived on October 25, the free shuttle bus at the Octagon Odori cable car station has been suspended, but the hotel owner is very user-friendly and will pick up and drop off for free, making tourists feel at home during the trip. The hotel's hot springs are to the ”Baima Temple の Wood ホテル” bubble (provide coupons 1000/person) 250 meters away, the source of the discharge of Zhuang Bingwei の soup, spring quality , very smooth after the bubble. Baima の Wood ホテル and Baima Canadian Mountain Lodge are the same boss. Where is the restaurant that provides (buffet) breakfast and dinner, it is very rich. It was a very unforgettable experience. I fell in love with the beautiful Baima Village in the sunny day of waiting for the Bafangweigen Bafang Pool! Wonderful Stay at Garden Pension Obogurgl We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm. Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice. We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.

The interior of the guesthouse is very clean overall, and the common areas are warmly decorated and furnished. There's a charcoal stove in the lobby on the first floor where you can relax on the sofa by the fire, which is very pleasant. The guesthouse has an overall feel of a vintage wooden villa. The rooms are all on the second floor, so you'll need to carry your luggage up (no elevator). The room size is small, but it's very warm inside and generally clean, though occasionally bugs appear (I encountered three). When staying at the guesthouse, it's more suitable to spend time in the first-floor lobby area (it's more comfortable). However, the guesthouse doesn't have private bathrooms or showers; they are all shared, which might be unusual for those accustomed to hotels. The guesthouse has two shared bathrooms that require booking on a sign-up sheet. Each bathroom has a shower and a hot tub, and they are very clean. Since there aren't many rooms, you won't have to queue for showers. However, the cleanliness and maintenance of the guesthouse's shared toilets could be improved. The toilet in the men's restroom on the second floor was leaking a bit, and the waste bin wasn't regularly emptied. Compared to the bathrooms, the shared toilets are still less convenient, and you might find multiple people trying to use them at once. The guesthouse owners are very welcoming and responsive, but their English is limited, so communication often requires a translation app, which can take a lot of time. If you plan to visit Goryu/47 ski resorts, you can buy discounted ski passes from the guesthouse owner for 6000 JPY/day, which is much cheaper than buying at the resort. Additionally, ski equipment rental at the guesthouse is also very affordable. Hotel Oak Tree, located next to the guesthouse (a 5-minute walk), is a free bus stop with several free shuttle buses to various ski resorts. However, you need to pay attention to the timetable (available at the guesthouse), as the bus departure times are limited, and you'll be stranded if you miss one. Other transportation options include taxis, but getting a taxi in Hakuba isn't easy; they are often unavailable (and expensive).

It was very comfortable with the feeling of staying in a comfortable house. I felt the richness of nature from the window and was quiet and relaxing.

Meteor Garden is located conveniently 5-7min drive from main Hakuba Village. One thing to note is that the main cafe in the stay is not open so need to find other dining alternatives. Rooms and amenities are clean and well maintained, the one issue is that it’s not well marked on Google map as it keeps pointing to the restaurant which was not opened and gave us a false alarm. Wifi is not the fastest and does not handle multiple devices that well especially when you are trying to work. There was some confusion when booked via Trip as the contact information was somehow truncated so hotel was unable to contact me without going through Trip thus messages were delayed. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and everyone had a great time…

Feels like home. 10 minutes walk away from hakuba goryu escal plaza. a few eatery nearby so nothing to worry about food. No problem to communicate in English. and the owner they are so helpful and they are one of the nicest person I have ever met. yes, i will come back again to hakuba the next ski season, and i will stay here.
