Kira Baya (คีรา บายา) is a boutique resort inspired by Gauguin’s Tahiti, offering guests a liberating and immersive experience in nature, without constraints or boundaries. Nestled in Koh Samed, the resort is designed to offer guests an immersive retreat where nature and comfort seamlessly blend. Kira Baya embraces a raw yet refined approach to island living—where woven textures, organic materials, and the rhythm of the ocean shape each moment. More than a retreat, it is an immersion into the soul of the island, offering a timeless escape that feels both grounding and liberating.

"Service: First off, a huge shout-out to the service! Our trip was a bit rushed, and all the rooms were booked up. We originally wanted to stay for three nights, but the middle night was Valentine's Day, and it was so popular that we couldn't get a reservation. I thought it would be easy to find another hotel, but there was nothing available. A guy at the front desk named James was an absolute lifesaver! From the moment I asked him, he not only helped coordinate rooms at their own hotel but, more importantly, he continuously helped me contact other hotels and made reservations for us without hesitation. Otherwise, we would have been sleeping on the streets! There was also a lovely lady at the front desk who was incredibly helpful. A big thank you to both of them. Environment: I absolutely loved the hotel's environment! The beach is right there, connected to the hotel. It's not a sandy beach, but the best part is that you can go clamming and crabbing there – we found moon snails, bullseye snails, turret snails, and even various sea cucumbers and crabs! It's perfect for families with kids. Facilities: The hotel seems to have been newly renovated and it's done really well. Everything is very new, so there's no hesitation about staying here. The breakfast was also good. If we ever come back to Koh Samet, we will definitely choose to stay at this hotel again!"

ЕЕлена КучвешWe chose this hotel based on reviews. We didn't book in advance, as the trip was unplanned. It was our first time on this island, and we weren't sure which beaches were best. We decided to pick an inexpensive hotel with a good view and then visit each beach separately. Upon arrival, we realized we had made an excellent choice. LOCATION. You couldn't ask for a better location. It's so close to the pier that we literally walked there with our suitcases in 4 minutes. The two nearest beaches are a 10-15 minute walk away. We thought about renting a scooter but quickly realized we didn't need one. There are cafes, main restaurants, massage places, and, most importantly, a 7/11 nearby. We only went to the pier once to catch a shared songthaew to Ao Prao beach for 40 baht per person. (On the way back, a songthaew acts as a taxi for 250 baht for two, which took us back to the pier). We were worried that being so close to the pier would mean smells from ferry fuel, dirt, and noise. But in the end, there aren't many ferries, no real noise, and the only smell is the sea. The cicadas sing louder! 😄 HOTEL. We had room 10. An excellent room. Yes, it's not brand new, but for the price, it was more than decent. Every morning, we woke up and enjoyed the sea view right from our bed. There's a hammock on the veranda – definitely lie in it! We sat on the veranda at night, and there weren't many mosquitoes or gnats; we didn't even need repellent. Closing the doors provided a little sound insulation. I particularly appreciated the drying rack for clothes and the abundance of hangers in the room. There were glasses, mugs, a kettle, a safe, and a hairdryer. The mattress, pillows, and bedding were all fine. We got one towel per person. CLEANLINESS AND HOUSEKEEPING. There isn't daily room cleaning as such, but they change towels daily, and replenish the gel, shampoo, toilet paper, and tea/coffee sets. If you go out, leave your used towels on the veranda, and when you return, you'll find fresh ones in a bag on the table. For the trash can from the toilet, also place it on the veranda, and they will empty it. Hot water was available 24/7. We really loved this hotel. After returning from the beaches, the scenery visually changed, and we simply enjoyed the beautiful view from our window and the sound of the waves. And, of course, you can't escape the cicadas. We recommend this hotel. Our recommendation: Make sure to walk a little further past this hotel; there are also lovely swimming spots there with no waves.

JJules66This is a good low budget option to experience island life, but not that low budget £60 per night ( January 2026) We are very familiar with island life in Thailand and appreciate that some things just don’t work as well. The location of Malibu Samed Resort is gorgeous, it’s more or less situated on the beach of the small quaint Wong Duean Bay. There are several beach restaurants available, the vibe is chilled, without the drinking or ******** culture. It’s lovely. Our welcome was warm, the staff were great and happy to help with our luggage. Our room is small 16 m² with 2 single beds, some hanging and storage space. It has a rustic feel to it. There is a fridge which is always welcome, tea and coffee making facilities, which we always appreciate, as well as a safety deposit box & flat screen TV. The bed and pillow are comfortable but not sumptuous. Towels are provided and I would say are of typical island quality. However the shower was an issue, obviously water is limited on the island and taking a hot shower was challenging but actually having a good supply of water either in the evening or morning was very hit and miss. Missed more often, it gets frustrating when you can’t have an adequate shower, that’s one of the reasons we move about frequently. Breakfast is of limited quality but there are a variety of options including cereal, hot food both western & Thai. Toast cereal and tea & coffee. The pool area was hardly used during our stay so a nice quiet retreat from the beach was available.

FFrankaOLThis is my second time at this hotel. Definitely recommend. It's not in the busy hub of the island so not close to the bars and the centre with more shops and atm. You can get there with the island bus or taxi. It does boast easy access to one of the more beautiful beaches. Loads of restaurants around, and some karaoke and live music. The restaurants around there can be very pricey.
