"Traveling to Thailand during the low season is honestly not worth it due to the constant rain. The cleanliness of the beach left much to be desired, and the hotel breakfast was quite poor. We often felt like we were bothering the staff rather than being welcomed. They weren’t attentive to whether guests needed anything or lacked something. We even visited a local clinic, and they wanted to charge us 2,200 THB just for calling a doctor and speaking over the phone. It also felt like the only thing that really mattered to the staff was the tip you might leave. All in all, we don’t think we’ll be coming back."

"The location was good. Pretty much in-between the pier and the beach. Bed was comfortable and the AC is great. There is a school very close that may get loud during school hours. Kids being loud and having fun doesn't bother me though. The front desk is not manned. No line/WhatsApp number to call. Reception closed at 5pm."

"To be honest, I'd say it's pretty decent. The price is fair for the room, offering good value for money and no real complaints. The breakfast spread had a good variety. The hotel is located right by the beach. The island isn't very big, so I'd actually recommend renting a scooter no matter where you're staying. I would definitely choose this place again for my next visit."

"From the pier to the hotel on foot along the central street of Samet, the hotel is conveniently located, although at first we did not find it, since it is in a common courtyard with other buildings of the Siakaew chain, if you walk along the beach, it is easier to find it, the reception is hidden right behind the beach restaurant, by the way, in the mornings from the restaurant they really rattle dishes very noisily)). The reception staff is very friendly, they checked us in right away (and we arrived at 10 am, ☝️), the rooms have no windows, there is a large portal to the inner hall and that's it, but there is enough light. The room has everything you need, 4 towels, gel, shampoo, coffee, a comfortable soft mattress, a dryer on the mini balcony, there is also a folding basin if you need to wash something, I have not seen this in Thailand yet. There is another problem that everyone writes about, it is the smell of sewage, I woke up at night from a terrible stench, the problem was solved with the same basin, we covered the shower drain with it and the smell disappeared, another plus is that at the entrance from the beach to the restaurant there is a place where you can wash your feet from sand, and not carry it into the room"

"Good day to anyone interested in our opinion of this hotel. We're not picky travelers; we just needed a cheap, clean room for a night, and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. The beach is nearby, there are two 7-Elevens close by, it has air conditioning, and the bathroom is impeccably clean. The room itself is clean and ideal for travelers who just need a place to sleep. However, if you're looking to do more than just sleep and actually spend time in the room, this isn't the place for you. The balcony is only good for drying clothes, and there isn't really anywhere to eat. But again, to find such cleanliness and a great location for this price, you'd be hard-pressed. The hotel owners are kind and helpful, so thanks to them!"

"The room was beautiful and clean. I got a room next to the Kahe and Sai Kaew beach. The view was beautiful. The accommodation was between Buggy and Sai Kaew Beach Resort, and it was a short walk to a 7-Eleven. Breakfast was a set menu with options to order in advance. You can eat at the cafe or in your room. However, the staff at the cafe and other areas lacked service mind. They didn't smile and greet me. They were either sitting on their phones or chatting in groups. The water and toiletries were insufficient for the guests. The restaurant and cafe closed early, closing before 5 p.m. There was nothing available for drinks or food. The entrance was under renovation, but every time I walked past, the attentive receptionist would come out and tell the technician to stop and let me pass. Thank you. The air conditioning wasn't cool throughout the room, but overall, I liked the beautiful and complete interior design. The mattress on the large bed was too soft, causing back pain."

"Lovely location with beach access. We stayed in a Cottage room, which had a large king-size bed and a single bed. The mattress was firm. Although the room was more than adequate for our stay, it is not luxurious. No room service is provided, but rooms are cleaned daily. Breakfast was included and offered thai food and western based breakfast items ( although it was luke warm at best) The dinner menu was very thai, fish based, but they did have pizzas or burger and bbq items. I ate mainly thai. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, although a couple of times we ordered food or drink for it to never appear. Beach .. sea was lovely and clear , and sand was soft and clean. You can walk over to the neighbouring bay for more restaurant options. The usual downer is the people that insist on reserving sunbeds and barely using them... frustrating when they are unused for 4 or more hours."

"The hotel is new, all the bath accessories are there, no need to bring a bunch of bubbles with you. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, brushes, pastes, cotton swabs. Clean, nice, hot water! Clean bed linen, towels! Comfortable pillows) complimentary upon arrival - chips, hot chocolate) Breakfast is decent - and coffee and juice and water will be brought to you, and food similar to English breakfast. You will be given a voucher for sun loungers! The location is ideal - the center of all the action, but at the same time quiet and calm at night, you can't hear the music. The only thing that slightly spoiled the impression is the employee who receives guests. We had to leave the island at 16:30, came to extend until 16:00 hotel, translated our request with the help of a translator with sound, since for some reason she could not just read from the screen what was written there in Thai. In general, as it turned out, she nodded to us that we could stay until 4 pm, agreed and announced the surcharge, but in the end we still paid 3 times more than what was announced, since in fact, when checking out, she told us that we misunderstood her) The surcharge for every half hour of room extension is 200 baht. Be prepared that the receptionist simply will not understand you, the dialogue will be difficult. Neither Russian nor English, only Thai with voice acting. Translation difficulties, costs)) But despite this pun with the check-out, we really liked everything and recommend the hotel. By the way, we did not have any neighbors, we were alone, no one made noise, everything is just perfect!"

"Mixed impressions) For families with children, the pool was a great help: two depths, for babies and a maximum of 110 cm. We vacationed with my 9-year-old daughter in June 2025. There were waves in the bay, so we often swam in the pool. For breakfast: buffet (watermelon, melon, tea, coffee, juices, cornflakes, milk, green lettuce, cherry tomatoes, white rice, rice with vegetables, with chicken, sausages, fried eggs, white toast, jam, butter, etc.) We got a room in which the water in the shower and sink did not drain, not comfortable at all. But we lasted two nights) as in other houses - I don't know) Overall, good. We rented a motorbike and traveled around the island: we were on other beaches and at View points. At the very end of the island, there are gorgeous views!"

We stayed on the third floor, which offered peaceful mountain views overlooking the national park forest rather than beach views. The setting is genuinely calm and quiet – exactly what we wanted for a family retreat. Important consideration: There's no elevator, so reaching upper floors requires quite a climb. As we joked, shuttling between the room and outside areas four times daily provides a workout in itself! This makes the resort unsuitable for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. Dining Experience The breakfast experience is delightful, served in a beachside restaurant where you can enjoy your meal with sand between your toes. The selection impresses with a good range of both Western and Thai options, including fresh fruits. The resort's beach restaurant serves quality food with excellent value for money – we tried multiple dishes and enjoyed them all. However, there's no room service, and the restaurant closes early (around 9:30-10 PM). When late-night cravings struck, we found the nearby 7-Eleven (just 5-6 minutes' walk) convenient for snacks. Room Amenities & Issues Room amenities are adequate though not luxurious. The shower area is well-designed with a spacious dressing area. However, we encountered an unpleasant odor from the bathroom drainage system that required some management during our stay. Activities & Surroundings For water activities like parasailing, snorkeling, and jet skiing, you'll need to walk to Sai Kaew Beach to find service providers – fortunately, we found excellent options there. Final Verdict Avatara Resort succeeds as a family-friendly destination that balances beachfront access, peaceful ambience, and reasonable pricing. While it has some limitations (no elevator, early restaurant closure, minor maintenance issues), the overall experience was enjoyable and memorable. Recommended for: Families seeking a calm beach getaway who don't mind some stairs and prefer a quieter resort atmosphere. Consider alternatives if: You need elevator access, late-night dining options, or luxury amenities."
