"The location is pretty good, just a 5-minute walk to Saikaew Beach. The hotel bar and pool are beautiful. This time, I stayed on the third floor, but there was no elevator, or at least I wasn't aware of one because the staff told me to just take the stairs from this side. If you're traveling with elderly people who have knee problems, climbing the stairs might be difficult. Inside the room, the air conditioning wasn't very cool; it only blew air. The hairdryer was broken, but when I informed the staff, they immediately brought a brand-new one, which I really appreciated! The towels had a slight odor, and the bathroom also had a stale smell. I wish they had some kind of air freshener or essential oil to make the room smell nicer and feel fresher. The bathroom only provides shampoo and shower gel; there's no toothbrush or toothpaste. Perhaps you have to ask the staff for them, but usually, at other hotels I've stayed at, these items are provided without asking. Breakfast is served until 10 AM. Personally, the food wasn't anything to rave about, but the staff were lovely and welcoming."

"The experience with the resort is great, the staff are so friendly and polite, the room is large and very clean, the bed is a big plus when it is so comfortable, I have such a very good sleep quality. I also have very good experience with the resort’s restaurant; they served delicious food at a reasonable price and in large portions.
One point you need to know: the beach has many sea urchins, which can cause a very painful injury if you accidentally step on one. So the beach is beautiful but not ideal for swimming, or even diving due to the water not being clear enough to see the corals and fish.
Overall, it is worth staying for a relaxing trip, if you wanna dive or have a great underwater experience you can book a one-day tour with the locals."

Great
GGuest UserThe room was nice and the sea was beautiful! The pool was a little dirty, but the Thai waiter was really... charming. Everything else was good, and the food was delicious.
GGuest UserThe standalone villa was incredibly comfortable, offering a delightful 'mountain and sea' ambiance, perfect for a family getaway. The marine life around was abundant, and the service made us feel right at home. We'd definitely want to stay here again if we ever return to Koh Samet.

GGuest UserThe taxi from the pier cost 250 baht. The beach right in front of the hotel is fantastic, and the male attendant who manages the towels was really good – he's the reason I gave the last 100 baht as a tip. His enthusiasm also led us to book a night squid fishing trip for 9 people.
However, all the staff here seem to have two different attitudes: one for Western guests and another for Chinese guests. While everyone else managed basic politeness, the female server in the restaurant (pictured in photo 2) was incredibly rude to us. This is my fifth time vacationing in Thailand, and I've also traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Hamilton Island, but this is honestly the first time I've encountered a staff member so rude. She pointed her finger at me and loudly demanded that I push the water bottle from the middle of the table to against the wall. I was completely stunned.
Upon check-in, they asked for 500 baht per night for an extra bed for our 6-year-old. Since the three of us could comfortably share the king-sized bed, we declined and only paid for the child's breakfast, which was 200 baht per day.
One evening, we also encountered teenagers on the beach who were indiscriminately bullying kids playing there. I never even saw something like this in Australia, yet it happened on Koh Samet. Thankfully, my English speaking skills are decent, and after a big argument, he ended up yelling that he was going to call the police.
Overall, I still wouldn't recommend booking a hotel here. The pricing attracts a certain type of clientele, and since there are many very cheap hotels nearby, the beach attracts all sorts of tourists.
CCooldayThe Samed Resorts group offers the guests a free boat shuttle service to Samed Island (even free car parking), which I find very convenient. The staff helped us loading the baggage to the boat and from the boat to the hotel. Ban Ploy sea is located right next to the pier with a few minutes walk. The check-in went smoothly. The staff was so helpful and friendly. He even offered me an upgrade room with the sea front view for 2 nights. The room was clean and comfy. At the back of the resort is a log house cafe, offering tasty cakes and fancy drinks. I feel really relaxed lying on a private beach. In the evening we were so lazy to go out, just had dinner at the hotel‘s restaurant every night. It was not cheap but everything was delicious. Overall, we are very satisfied. Highly recommended!
DDNEThe stars of this hotel are the staff particularly the manager, Act, who could not be more helpful. She made everything about my stay easy and stress free.
The hotel itself is just across the quiet island road from the beach. Here there is white sand and crystal clear water. To the left is the busier section with all the normal beach activities together with bars and restaurants. It is just a 15 min walk into town this way. To the right the beach is quieter.
If you continue along the beach to the right you can follow the coast path which ‘hops’ from bay to bay making for a pleasant walk.
The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable. You are supplied with everything you need including snacks, beach bag, wet bag, beach towel and beach mat.
I had a wonderful stay at Green Bay and thoroughly recommend it.

Great
LLiraWe stayed for 5 days in September. The weather was lovely and sunny, with occasional rain at night. The tides were quite noticeable: low in the morning, high in the evening. The beach itself was partially rocky, but past the pier, it was sandy. We had booked a family room with two beds, so we were very grateful when they upgraded us to two separate, adjoining rooms in one bungalow.
Our room was well-equipped with a new air conditioner, bathrobes, umbrellas, a beach bag, coffee-making facilities, bottled water, and toiletries (even a hair tie!). A hairdryer was also provided, and the bed featured a lovely canopy.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would consider returning. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always happy to help with anything we needed, such as arranging a tuk-tuk to another hotel for 200 baht. Breakfasts were satisfactory.
However, we were quite disappointed with the dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food quality was poor; dishes were often undercooked or had small portions. The menu photos didn't accurately represent the food, and the dish descriptions were incorrectly translated. Subsequently, we opted to dine at a nearby family-run beach eatery, which served delicious and affordable meals.
AAnonymous UserWe booked a two-bedroom bungalow for a family of two adults and two children. It's very comfortable, cleaned daily, and has good breakfasts. The sea and private beach are pristine. We stayed there for four nights and then headed to Pattaya. Samet and the Cliff Resort are definitely much better. But not for those looking for a party.
If you're looking for relaxation, clean sea, and peace, it's fine. If you're looking for clubs and nightlife, it's not.
JJonathan WallerNice little place right on the beach. Perfect for sunrise and clear water for swimming. It's the quiet end of the island but still plenty of places to eat and drink. Rooms are simple but comfortable. Good shower. Nice pool. Good breakfast. Attentive staff.
JJules66This is a good low budget option to experience island life, but not that low budget £60 per night ( January 2026)
We are very familiar with island life in Thailand and appreciate that some things just don’t work as well.
The location of Malibu Samed Resort is gorgeous, it’s more or less situated on the beach of the small quaint Wong Duean Bay.
There are several beach restaurants available, the vibe is chilled, without the drinking or ******** culture. It’s lovely.
Our welcome was warm, the staff were great and happy to help with our luggage.
Our room is small 16 m² with 2 single beds, some hanging and storage space.
It has a rustic feel to it. There is a fridge which is always welcome, tea and coffee making facilities, which we always appreciate, as well as a safety deposit box & flat screen TV.
The bed and pillow are comfortable but not sumptuous.
Towels are provided and I would say are of typical island quality.
However the shower was an issue, obviously water is limited on the island and taking a hot shower was challenging but actually having a good supply of water either in the evening or morning was very hit and miss. Missed more often, it gets frustrating when you can’t have an adequate shower, that’s one of the reasons we move about frequently.
Breakfast is of limited quality but there are a variety of options including cereal, hot food both western & Thai.
Toast cereal and tea & coffee.
The pool area was hardly used during our stay so a nice quiet retreat from the beach was available.
GGuest UserThe hotel is beautiful - decor, location, which is on the seafront (where you can eat dinner or the delicious breakfast they offer) with an amazing complement of staff. Everybody could not do enough to help and made our stay an entirely enjoyable one. We *will* be back.
