Good location, 5 mins walk from tram stop at train station at Newcastle Interchange. Tram runs regularly to and from Newcastle Beach stop. Easy to use, tap on/off.
Room clean, view of the harbour, great laundry self-service facilities (wash $2, dryer free), good variety of fresh food for breakfast with slightly different options each day.
Helpful reception staff.
Frosty glass bathroom is apparently standard design in all their hotels, cool design but light wakes up others at night.
Nice toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities.
Blackout blind very effective

MyOwnPrivateGlobeI liked the hotel, it was adequate for my purpose and I enjoyed my short stay. I was disappointed about no room service - tried to order across the two days, but nothing on offer on the digital menu like what was being offered on the cardboard menu left in my hotel room. That would have really made my stay, being that I was visiting Australia and hotel stays are a bit of a luxury for me. Only time I ever watch television is when I'm travelling in different regions. TV channels were a great first experience of Australian culture after arriving very late at night. MTV and Rage, heck yeah! Mind-blowing! In fact, more mind-blowing than that, stepping outside the hotel, wandering down to the Civic and hearing all kinds of wildlife at the sides of the road, just on the median strip that runs between roads, jittery bugs and birds! Hilarious and utterly wild. I LOVED how much of Australia has, seemingly, to an outsider, been preserved, conserved, and the amount of greenery between places - Newcastle to Sydney. England has sadly not fared the same. Anyway, my stay was good. Hotel staff were friendly, free water in carafes, downstairs at the bar. Best thing was I caught an amazing thunderstorm on the morning before checking out. Thanks, Mercure! Thanks, Newy! 😜 Love ya Australia. Be back soon!
Note: Photos are screenshots from some videos I took whilst I stayed.

Location: central to where we needed to be; Rooms: way too small; had to put luggage rack behind the door and then squeeze out of the gap to get in and out of the room; we had a terrace so we had fresh air, other guests in our party didn't and reported their rooms stifling and considered getting up and going to their cars to sleep; Bar: friendly but staff didn't know products, seemed to use pre-mix for some cocktails. Food: nice, tasty but very small portion for steak ordered and although cooked well was not to the doneness level ordered; although busy service was good. Guest Service Agent: friendly, knowledgeable, check in swift and smooth

I have stayed at the Premier before
That's why I booked there
My preference of room was booked out for this stay
So I chose single room with shared bathroom and was a bit unsure what to expect
It wasn't terrible at all
I enjoyed having access to the balcony
I slept so soundly,I didn't move all night
I did dine in the bistro one evening the food was ready quickly and it was lovely
I was provided fresh towels for each of the 3 days I was a guest
I didn't utilise the communal kitchen but I think it is a great addition

Guest UserConfusing access as no reception. Once sorted, it was fine. Good to have under coverage garage for the car. Late evening and during the night, we both experienced a strange buzz/vibration through the floor and beds. We did not have the air conditioner on.

Great location, easy remote operated check in service.
Communal area presented well. The lift worked to go upwards from ground to level one, but it wasn’t functioning when we left (downwards function from level one to ground).
Room 1 - upon entering had a horrible dirty shoe smell. It has a major shower drainage problem where the fall of the shower floor runs into the room, possibly over time water on the carpet is causing the constant smell.
The hand basin drain was also blocked.
The renovation was modern, however the wear and tear is now evident. Could do with a bond clean and some maintenance. The ratings could improve easily if maintenance and cleanliness were addressed because the service and location are great.
