"The room is located within a 'tulou', a traditional circular community dwelling. It is fully decked out with modern facilities and amenities so it's kinda cool to experience the accomodation. I've seen the original ones in the Fujian province so this is quite interesting. The room is very comfortable. And the breakfast buffet is absolutely lavish - almost like having a full on lunch with lunch dishes but it does also come Chinese and western breakfast items too
Upon checked in, we were added to the hotel's Wechat concierge, Xiao Kuang 小匡 - basically the go-to person for all questions related to your stay. If we need direction, recommended routes in Wangxian Valley, daily activities/performances at which location which time....we can ask Xiao Kuang. I do appreciate this service! We don't have to look for someone at the reception counter. Mobile engament is so much easier!
What I like about Wangxian Valley is the beautifully renovated buildings that are very Instagrammable. But be prepared to walk down the hill from the accomodation and back up again when you return later at night. There is a shuttle bus that we can take but we didn't figure out where was the pick up point.

"Shangrao Yuexi New Century Grand Hotel Kaiyuan was an absolute revelation! This Huizhou-style garden hotel, nestled at the foot of Lingshan Mountain, with its white walls, dark tiles, and quaint bridges over flowing streams, felt like stepping into a traditional Chinese ink painting. The lobby, a renovated ancient house, boasts old trees and bluestone slabs everywhere, creating an incredibly serene atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and elegant, furnished with wooden pieces and equipped with smart devices. The bedding is super soft, and you get stunning mountain views right from your window. The service was impeccable; the front desk staff were very welcoming, and the shuttle bus was always available on call. Breakfast offered authentic local specialties like Qianshan hot noodles and Dengzhan Guo, which were delicious. We also got to experience Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) for free, and the courtyard was perfect for photos. Overall, it's a quiet and comfortable place that perfectly blends cultural charm with a relaxing holiday vibe. Highly recommend!"

"Clean tidy space. This room doesn’t come with a kitchen etc as all food is available at the restaurants at wangxian valley. The service was great we has a free shuttle that can take you and your luggage to and from your hotel the worker were amazing!! They take your luggage for you without hesitation and are always timely. Everyone is kind mainly one of the elderly female cleaners who always says hello with a smile and ask if we would like a clean. I wish the CEI WEI room we stayed in had a view as requested as the windows were quite small but they explained this prior to check in and confirmed if we were ok with it which was nice. Great room location as well it is right in the middle of the main foyer and breakfast buffet and the tourist area of the valley so you don’t have to walk too far up or down!"

"A solid five-star review, my stay was absolutely flawless. The front desk service was warm and professional, and both check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. They arrange airport/station transfers based on the day's schedule, but you need to book in advance! The room's hygiene standards are very high; the entire space was clean and fresh. The bedding was soft and comfortable against the skin, and the soundproofing was excellent—I couldn't hear any noise from the hallway at all. The bathroom facilities worked well with stable water pressure, making for a truly comfortable daily stay. The hotel's location is superb, very close to shopping and dining. The common areas are clean and tidy, and the overall quality far exceeds other hotels in the same price range. Attention to detail is evident everywhere. It's perfectly suited for both business trips and leisure travel. Highly recommended, next time I'm in town, Fengzhen will be my first choice."

"First off, the help from Huan Huan the Housekeeper was exceptional; every need and whim was anticipated well in advance.
This cliffside guesthouse is undoubtedly the best place to stay if you want to take in all the scenery of Wangxian Valley. Surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, the valley is perpetually filled with a subtle fragrance of plants. On clear days, the contours of the mountains and water are sharp and distinct, with blue skies and white clouds framing the dark peaks. When it's foggy, the entire valley is enveloped in a light mist, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an ancient Chinese ink wash painting. The guest room windows directly face the canyon, allowing you to witness the changing scenery throughout the day without even stepping out. A big thank you to Huan Huan, our housekeeper, who was incredibly knowledgeable about the mountain views and recommended superb viewing spots, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the unique tranquility of the wilderness."

"The Muchen Hotel is conveniently located to the right of Shangrao High-Speed Railway Station and the East Bus Station, just a ten-minute walk away. However, the area around the hotel feels a bit remote, with no restaurants or dining options nearby (this wouldn't be an issue for those traveling by car). For guests without a car, or those who prefer not to walk far, or elderly individuals with mobility issues, this could be quite inconvenient.
Inside the hotel, the hygiene is excellent; the rooms are clean and tidy. Basic amenities like lighting and central air conditioning are good, and the bathroom features a wet/dry separation. There's also a washing machine and dryer available.
The staff, from the front desk to the housekeeping team on the floors, are all very dedicated and responsible. Any minor issues were promptly addressed. During check-in, since the room type I booked was full, the front desk proactively offered me a room upgrade, which I greatly appreciated!
I originally intended to give Muchen Hotel a five-star rating, but due to the catering department's head, whose impersonal and sharp-tongued manner negatively impacted the hotel's overall image, I'm giving it a 3.5 to 4-star rating instead."

"We had an amazing time in this hotel it’s very close to the valley, but with traffic it can be a while. Fortunately, the owner had a very easy set up for us to make it. She checked us and told us to put her stuff down and to come down to that her driver could take us to the valley. It definitely took out part of the stress of trying to get there. We are very grateful. I would 100% suggest reaching out to her before showing up to coordinate transportation to the hotel. It’s easy, especially for foreigners who don’t understand the language and don’t want to get overcharged on the Didi app. She included breakfast with our booking and honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it. She’s so kind and generous. I wish I could communicate better to her. How grateful we were for her place and hospitality."

"An old established hotel in Shangrao! There was a 24-hour welcome tea service next to the front desk when I checked in, and the staff were warm and friendly. The room hygiene was impeccable, spotless and tidy, making for a very comfortable stay. The handwritten welcome letter was a particularly thoughtful touch, really showing the owner's sincerity. Little details were considered everywhere, creating a strong sense of home and human warmth. A perfect stay experience!"

The room we booked looked exactly like the pictures, no discrepancies at all. My family unanimously gave it a thumbs up! Since we had a large group, the front desk lady kindly arranged multiple shuttle trips to the scenic area for us, which was a huge help 👍🏻. And the noodles and congee for breakfast were delicious! 😁

They provide free shuttle to the valley and also serve dinner and lunch for a very good price.
We had dinner there when we arrived and the food was very tasty.
The boss and her family are very nice and friendly. They also help us get a shared car back to the train station.
I highly recommend this place!

MM380264****The house was clean and tidy, and the landlady was incredibly welcoming. She helped us find a shared ride as soon as we got off the train, and then personally picked us up near the scenic area to take us to our hotel, saving us the trouble of taking the cable car up the mountain. She even helped us with our luggage. Whenever we saw the family, they always greeted us with smiles, which warmed our hearts. I highly recommend their food; it was delicious and inexpensive. They also helped us call a car when we left. Of course, Huangling is also very beautiful. It was a very happy day.

Nancy and the staff were so kind, helpful and friendly - they shared recommendations on where to visit. The food was absolutely delicious; we recommend ordering lunch and dinner there too. The room was lovely; the view from the balcony was stunning and very peaceful. We recommend hiring Master Yu as the driver; He drove us around the various villages (Wuyuan is his hometown, so he knows all the good places to visit). He is so thoughtful and took our picture many times! The afternoon tea was also very special. We had a wonderful trip!

GGuest UserDisappointing stay here. We had no choice but to extend our stay because it was Chinese new year and very difficult to find another place to stay and also my husband was sick so we had to change our plans and stay an extra night so he could rest.
The place smelled like smoke everywhere. We have a baby with us and wanted a smoke free place. Despite the signs in the lobby saying No Smoking, people were smoking there and the front desk people didn’t care. The towels in our room had ashes on them and smelled like smoke. They were also ripped and badly needed to be replaced. (We got a smoke free room and learned on our trip that all they do for smoke free rooms is open the windows to air it out before you arrive. 🤦🏻♀️)
There was insufficient toilet paper when we arrived and although they did provide more when we asked it was just inconvenient. The toilet paper holder was broken so we had to find somewhere else to put the roll of toilet paper. The sink leaked and it was supposed to be a dry washroom which is one of the reasons why I booked the place but turned out to be a wet washroom. Incredibly inconvenient with a baby.
The shower drainage was missing a cover and it didn’t feel safe for my child when showering because her little feet could get stuck inside it.
One of the days we needed to rest a little longer and the housekeeper asked us when we were leaving so she could clean our room. We said we needed 2 more hours (around 2pm) she kept trying to peer inside our room and said she wanted to get off work early. I found that incredibly rude. I understand it’s CNY and you want to go home early but that’s not something you should say to a guest who paid to stay at the hotel. Front desk people also did not seem friendly. Never saw any of them smile. We obviously don’t speak Chinese fluently and they laughed at us when they couldn’t understand us and wasn’t helpful in any way.
Overall, not a very pleasant stay. Would not stay here again.

UUseràThe room was very nice and clean, and the accommodation is just a few minutes' drive from the entrance to the scenic area. There are plenty of restaurants along the same street as the property.
The only downside was that from 5:00 AM on there was a lot of noise and people talking in the stairwell and at the reception.
