Mountain View Hotels in Yan'an

The courtyard is wonderfully comfortable, filled with both flowers and fresh produce. The owners are exceptionally warm, welcoming, and diligent. They prepare delicious meals using ingredients freshly picked from their own garden, which includes tomatoes, cucumbers, winter melon, daylilies, bitter greens, watermelons, Chinese melon, and a variety of other fruits and vegetables. We arrived on Friday for the weekend, and it even rained, creating a delightfully cool breeze in the courtyard. The expansive views offered a panoramic vista of the unique Loess Plateau landscape. We definitely plan to return in the autumn with our children and parents for another stay.

Environment: It's a genuine cave dwelling. Because it's located in a village, the journey is a bit rustic. The owner called ahead to remind us, which made the experience more enjoyable and allowed us to appreciate the natural beauty. Hygiene: It can't compare to a hotel. Being right outside the door, it's dusty and there are bound to be some insects. Those with a strong aversion to dirt should be cautious and avoid this option. Facilities: The owner has done a great job. Everything you need is there, showing care and attention: smart controls, TV stand adjustment, fresh air system… Service: A big thumbs up to the owner – a man of few words but decisive action, clear thinking, and strong execution. No wasted words, just keeping his word. After seeing so many insincere smiles and empty pleasantries from the service industry on the road, this owner is a breath of fresh air. The hotel is newly opened. Although Pagoda Mountain is across the street, you have to take a taxi (minimum fare) to get to the revolutionary site of Pagoda Mountain. Taxis are very convenient for getting to all revolutionary sites in Yan'an, so don't even think about walking. Our room, 502, faced the railway tracks, and the rumbling noise did disturb our sleep. There were only two sets of laundry equipment, so you had to queue if it was busy. The self-service breakfast was decent for the price, but there were many tour groups, and it was hard to find a seat during peak hours. The free hotel shuttle service could be improved. It would be helpful to inform guests beforehand that they need to take the escalator down at Yan'an Station to the ride-hailing pick-up point, and that drop-off at the station is only on the opposite side of the road, to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. Overall, this hotel is still acceptable, and drinking water is freely available.

Excellent hotel and recommended! The room was big enough for 2 of us and very clean. There are several restaurants near by. Although Trip.com shows the breakfast is from 7:00am but the actually it starts from 7:30, which was a bit late considering our schedule of the day. The breakfast restaurant staff was kind enough and we were allowed to start the breakfast from around 7:00 although the selection was limited until 7:30. Overall very good experience!

The biggest surprise of this trip was this guesthouse, which is actually more like a hotel. The room was huge, a river view family room. The Yellow River was right outside the window – it was my first time sleeping next to it! It had two bathrooms, but only one shower. An 'Xiao Du' smart assistant controlled the air conditioning, lights, curtains, sofa TV, and there were two large beds and a washing machine. It's perfect for family stays. It's also very close to both the Shaanxi and Shanxi Hukou Waterfall scenic areas. There's a big parking lot directly across the street. If it's not too busy, you can just park right downstairs without even crossing the road.

The cinema king-size bed room is very good. The layout and comfort of the room are relatively high. Compared with other room types I stayed in before, it is more cost-effective. I recommend staying in this room type. Afternoon tea for two: I especially like afternoon tea. This design is very friendly to business travelers and feels good.

The guesthouse is only about 200 meters from the scenic area entrance. The owner is said to be a scenic area ambassador, so you can get a discount on tickets purchased through him. The food at this guesthouse is delicious, especially their lamb (the owner's mother has been cooking lamb for 41 years! [Thumbs up]). It used to be called ”Lao Dang's Farmhouse Cuisine.” The guesthouse offers both cave-style rooms and standard rooms. Currently, the cave-style rooms don't have air conditioning, but it doesn't seem to matter much, as the temperature difference between day and night is quite significant, and it's not cold at night. The guesthouse has a large courtyard (I really like guesthouses with courtyards), parking is very convenient, and a self-service car wash is available.

Highly recommend this hotel! The rooms have excellent natural light and ventilation; there was no unpleasant odor upon entering. The sheets and duvet covers were disinfected and felt fresh to the touch. The toiletries were of high quality, and the hot water supply was consistent and uninterrupted. The room's soundproofing was superb, ensuring a very peaceful night's sleep. The room service was friendly, the check-out process was quick, and the value for money was exceptional. Definitely worth staying here again!
