FFRISOExcellent room, excellent location and atmosphere of the hotel.
Staff however, too often, go according to the 'book', and find it hard to think and improvise on the spot. It's as if they are under trained. When checking in there is no need to ask the guest to fill info on the iPad. You have this info, to stay in touch, already. Don't burden the weary traveler with trivial nonsense. If the sun shines, finally after weeks of grey and rain, and a guest sees the patio with tables in the sun, and this guest wants to have tea in the sun outside in the patio, this has to be a possibility. Don't say, well it's not the season so it's closed, it doesn't make sense, you're a top hotel, not the vander Valk. Improvise, think on your feet, explain that he is welcome to sit there and that his tea will be brought out, but it might take a few minutes longer. This way the guest feels listened to and that the moon is even possible.
The kitchen is incredible, the food is wonderful. Last evening I had dinner at the Jansz., two ladies working, were very kind, helpful and attentive, they understood the delicate balance between asking how things are going and leaving the guest alone. I want them to know i appreciate them. Please extend my gratitude to them. Also the Asian looking lady who worked during breakfast this morning, was excellent. Please let her know as well. Finally, the staff at the entrance - getting cabs etc. - are great. Some of the male staff are too - in Dutch, popy yoopy. I am your guest and not your friend. That's all, and that's enough.
Thank you for a great stay and I hope to come back again when I am back in the Netherlands.

66680****The hotel is quite new with comprehensive facilities. Although it's not in the city center, the subway station is right outside, a left turn away. It's only two stops to Central Station, three stops to the city center, and four stops to the Van Gogh Museum, making it very convenient to get around. The breakfast selection is also quite rich, but it shares the dining area with the adjacent Tribe hotel, so it can get crowded during peak hours.
Parking at the hotel costs 25 Euros per day. You pay directly at the front desk, and then when you leave, you just ring the service bell for the front desk to open the gate. However, on the day we left, we rang the bell for a long time and no one opened it. I had to go back up to the reception to sort it out, which was a bit frustrating.
The soundproofing is decent, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. However, the pillows were too high. Even after switching to a lower one, it still wasn't right, and I ended up with a stiff neck. Also, there's no conditioner, so you'll need to bring your own.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is very convenient. It is within walking distance of most tourist attractions in the city center. The hotel staff are very polite and the room is cleaned every day. It is a hotel that I highly recommend. I will definitely stay here next time👍

XxiaotaoI recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a very pleasant experience. The location is excellent and made it very convenient for exploring the Amsterdam central station area. Our room was comfortable, the building is stylish, and we enjoyed our time here.
There are a couple of areas where improvement would make the experience even better. First, the reception staff were chatting with each other while assisting us. It wasn’t a big issue, but it did feel a little unprofessional.
Second, the lifts could use some attention. They were quite slow during our stay, and on the day we checked out, none of them were working. We waited for about 15 minutes and eventually had to walk down 10 floors to reception (luckily, we didn’t have heavy luggage). What surprised us more was that the reception staff seemed unaware of the problem and didn’t acknowledge that there was an issue when we and other guests told her so.

AAnonymous UserWe stayed at Novotel Amsterdam City in standard twin rooms for a family holiday (6 of us), and overall it was a great experience. Mr. Oman at the reception was super friendly and gave us a warm welcome during check-in. He also helped make sure all our requests were met; connecting rooms, 2 single beds, same floor, and next to each other. Really appreciated that!
The only downside was one male receptionist (Middle Eastern-looking) who didn’t seem very welcoming. He was quite passive and seemed unwilling when I asked for help with temporarily storing our luggage.

PpedrO6662333The hotel is located about a 20-30 minute drive from the city center and approximately a 500-600 meter walk from the subway station. The immediate surroundings are quite desolate, with no supermarkets or dining establishments in sight. However, the room itself was immaculately clean. Its decor was very new and modern, boasting high-tech features like a touchscreen control panel. There was even a TV in the bathroom, giving the whole hotel a luxurious and sophisticated feel.

JjukiyAfter returning from Iceland, I opted to stay here again. This time, my room was on the 3rd floor, but there's no direct elevator access – you have to switch elevators on the second floor. The room didn't have any stirrers, and when I asked, the front desk wouldn't send them up; I had to go down to get them myself. What was truly frustrating was the motion-sensor light in the bathroom. It would always turn off automatically halfway through my shower, leaving me in complete darkness. I'd essentially be left in the dark twice during a single shower!

TTahsin ÇınarIt was a fascinating 3-day-journey. I really liked the hotel and the staff… They welcome you at the reception with a kind big smile. They gave two magnets while check-in and 3 key rings while checking out as presents.
Hotel’s location is very close (7-8 mins on food) to Sloterdijk Station which you can have access to train, metro, tram, public and international bus.
The room was clean. They changed the towels and cleaned the room on the second day. The bed was so comfortable and big enough. There was also a microwave oven, fridge, kettle and coffee/tea bags…
The only missing things are air condition and hair dryer.. there was a fan which works but seems mot enough to cool down the room.
If I come to Amsterdam one more time, I will stay there again.

LloreleikvltWe had been really concerned after pre paying this hotel then reading bad reviews that had us convinced we would need to wear plastic suits the entire visit,, so I thought I'd give my review based around the concerns we had read, to try and be helpful ! some of the things were true , the sheets did come off the bed on mine but I wiggle but my friends both stayed on their beds. super annoying but I just slid it back on and you can always throw your cover over it instead and ask for another . Fortunately we didn't come across the bed bugs people mentioned !, the cat seemed happy and not flea ridden.. however the room was clean enough , no obvious mould. The beds were comfortable enough. The bathroom was clean and quite nice
It wasn't huge but had ample.space for our things in the triple person room .
It's an old building with narrow windy stairs I'm glad the elevator worked. it's not a relax and sit in all day hotel..it's a place to sleep , shower ...charge your phone and keep your belongings.
The coffee machine was fine as far as basic goes.

There was a fifty euro deposit on the desk, we just asked for a receipt after other things mentioned in reviews and were given a written one with no problem on leaving . We were offered one free housekeeping day as we stayed 4 nights but opted not to use it due to theft mentioned in reviews..
We stayed at the main hotel so I don't know if all the bad reviews were from the other or we just got lucky with our room but we had no problems, and when I went rustling down before hours looking for coffee the guy did help me before reception opened.
It's no paradise of a place , there are marks on the walls but faint...if you're fussy it's not the place for you but for the price and location, we really didn't mind it . It's a super great location as a base with a trendy area behind it
And a really cool vegan restaurant a tiny walk away a pub downstairs and metro train a stone's throw away
If you have the option to pay on arrival ask to see.your room first.you could take that route
Just to be safe, but all up it was fine..3 women travelling together there was no unsafe feeling there .
We didn't find it noisy.
