"The beds were not comfortable especially the sofa bed. Have to pay to use the shuttle bus to the air but returns are free but finishes at midnight. Airport to Hotel cost €30. The food choices are very small. If travelling by air very convenient but remember you have to book your own transport to the airport if you are travelling at night."

Amazing
FFRISOExcellent room, excellent location and atmosphere of the hotel. Staff however, too often, go according to the 'book', and find it hard to think and improvise on the spot. It's as if they are under trained. When checking in there is no need to ask the guest to fill info on the iPad. You have this info, to stay in touch, already. Don't burden the weary traveler with trivial nonsense. If the sun shines, finally after weeks of grey and rain, and a guest sees the patio with tables in the sun, and this guest wants to have tea in the sun outside in the patio, this has to be a possibility. Don't say, well it's not the season so it's closed, it doesn't make sense, you're a top hotel, not the vander Valk. Improvise, think on your feet, explain that he is welcome to sit there and that his tea will be brought out, but it might take a few minutes longer. This way the guest feels listened to and that the moon is even possible. The kitchen is incredible, the food is wonderful. Last evening I had dinner at the Jansz., two ladies working, were very kind, helpful and attentive, they understood the delicate balance between asking how things are going and leaving the guest alone. I want them to know i appreciate them. Please extend my gratitude to them. Also the Asian looking lady who worked during breakfast this morning, was excellent. Please let her know as well. Finally, the staff at the entrance - getting cabs etc. - are great. Some of the male staff are too - in Dutch, popy yoopy. I am your guest and not your friend. That's all, and that's enough. Thank you for a great stay and I hope to come back again when I am back in the Netherlands. Kind regards, Diederik Lugt

66680****The hotel is quite new with comprehensive facilities. Although it's not in the city center, the subway station is right outside, a left turn away. It's only two stops to Central Station, three stops to the city center, and four stops to the Van Gogh Museum, making it very convenient to get around. The breakfast selection is also quite rich, but it shares the dining area with the adjacent Tribe hotel, so it can get crowded during peak hours. Parking at the hotel costs 25 Euros per day. You pay directly at the front desk, and then when you leave, you just ring the service bell for the front desk to open the gate. However, on the day we left, we rang the bell for a long time and no one opened it. I had to go back up to the reception to sort it out, which was a bit frustrating. The soundproofing is decent, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. However, the pillows were too high. Even after switching to a lower one, it still wasn't right, and I ended up with a stiff neck. Also, there's no conditioner, so you'll need to bring your own.

AAnonymous UserWe stayed at Novotel Amsterdam City in standard twin rooms for a family holiday (6 of us), and overall it was a great experience. Mr. Oman at the reception was super friendly and gave us a warm welcome during check-in. He also helped make sure all our requests were met; connecting rooms, 2 single beds, same floor, and next to each other. Really appreciated that! The only downside was one male receptionist (Middle Eastern-looking) who didn’t seem very welcoming. He was quite passive and seemed unwilling when I asked for help with temporarily storing our luggage.

GGuest UserThe hotel's good location is its main advantage. However, when checking in, they initially refused to accept cash for the city tax, claiming they only took cards. We spent about 15 minutes discussing this with the receptionist and another 15 minutes running around to nearby ATMs trying to deposit cash onto a card (a function that wasn't available at those ATMs). Eventually, they called a manager who allowed us to pay the tax with cash. Inside the hotel, everything needs renovation and new furniture. It all feels very old. The room itself was clean and generally had all the essentials. However, there was an unpleasant smell in the corridors and the room.

GGuest UserLocation: it's a great location because it's only a less than 10 minute walk from the Amsterdam Central station. It's so convenient. But the hostel entrance/reception is located inside a pub/restaurant. Personally I have no problem with this. I just find this interesting. There was also a security-looking guy standing at the entrance at night every day too, so it was pretty safe. Cleanliness: it was very clean. Every day someone took out the trash and cleaned the bathroom for us, which I didn't expect. They gave us a new, clean towel every day too. I really like these things about the hostel. Service: It depends on who you meet. The ladies that I talked to were all friendly and helpful. But there was a guy that was rather unhelpful and rude. I asked, ”Do you have data sim cards?” He said, ”No, we don't provide for that.” (Of course I knew the hostel didn't provide sim cards for free; I was asking if the hostel *sells* sim cards.) I asked, ”Do you know where I can get one? I can't get on the internet with the hostel wifi.” He said, ”There's no problem with the hostel wifi, otherwise a lot of people would be complaining about it.” (I wasn't complaining about the hostel wifi wasn't working; I was asking if he knew where I could get a sim card since I couldn't get on the internet to look for them.) Facilities: I like that there was a curtain on each bed. The bed and the room were also spacious enough. The windows were almost soundproof, isolating all the noises from the people drinking downstairs. The bathroom was also very clean. The only thing I didn't like was that there were brown stains on the blanket, which looked disgusting. There was also space for luggages (it's on the 2nd floor) if you don't want to store them in your room. There was, however, no kitchen or common areas. But the room was big enough and had a table. It was ok for me. One thing I really didn't like were the people who stayed in my room. All of them were obnoxious: wouldn't clean up after using the bathroom (hair everywhere), leaving their stuff in the bathroom/on the table so others couldn't use the space/table, kept coughing all night (meaning they were sick) and wouldn't open the windows for ventilation. I hardly had a good night's sleep because they kept coughing at night. But this wasn't the hostel's fault. It's those people's problems. All in all, I recommend staying at this hotel.

CCJulyaThe location was effortless, close to everything yet calm enough to breathe after long meetings. The canals, the rhythm of bicycles, the soft sound of the city in the morning, everything seemed to move in harmony. The room was clean, warm, and simple in a way that felt grounding. After days filled with conversations and deadlines, returning to that space felt like a quiet reset. The staff were genuinely kind, always ready to help with a smile that made every interaction feel human. There is a sense of quiet care that you can feel, and it stays with you. Thank you Ibis Amsterdam for being more than a hotel. You were a pause, a reminder that even in the middle of business and movement, there is always space for stillness and heart.

GGuest UserExcellent location, close to Central Station, many shops and restaurants around the hotel. Steep stairs but manageable, recommended for light travellers. We booked the New renovated room, nice design and spacious for two people. Nice staffs, but need to leave the room key every time when you leave the hotel…but the room cleaning need to be improved…found that stains/dirts are on the toilet seat/ dusts on the bedding/ no refilling of the tea bags…overall it is a nice stay in Amsterdam
